[I apologize for the skimpiness. I just lost a really big post to a glitch.]

"Because this village is his child," Shinichi explained, holding up Ayumi, "And my duty is to protect that child. You've no idea how much I want to castrate those responsible for his pain, but a general can't rush headlong into a battle when his men are wounded. He has to think of winning the war. Besides, I already have... reliable people out there. " He waved her off when the girl decided to leave. There was nothing more she could learn here. A vein pulsed with the sound of shattered glass. Shinichi turned to face the one responsible, glaring. "Clean that mess up or I'll you dancing on glass. And next time, make sure that kunai hits flesh, unless that was your intention this time too." When the guilty boy asked him another really dumb question, Shinichi sighed and shook his head futilely, "Do lions spend all their time hunting prey or do they wrestle to build the muscle it takes to kill a deer?"

Nobody was really progressing save for Izumi, but she had muscles that made Orika think of that messy, black-haired man she'd seen in the weapons shop. They looked so similar that she was tempted to call the two father and daughter, if not for their polar opposite personalities. This girl said her name was Meho, right? Orika had heard that word spoken among the villagers, though she couldn't remember in what context. They were probably just another clan; There were so many to remember! It was easier to just inquire about names and bloodlines on an individual basis. All this passed through her head while the rabbit struggled to hang onto the bars. She hadn't taken Shinichi-sensei's advice to go for bandages and regretted the decision. With a deep breath, she gripped the bar and slid her hands back and forth to wipe the sweat away. The girl then swung her body backwards and pulled with all her might. Her muscles cried out for water and rest, but Orika managed to get her chin above the bar. She let out an exaggerated exhale and let herself drop, but still hung onto the bar. It was too hard to reach that thing!

The young Raiken continued to carelessly swing about his wooden weapon as he approached the academy. Though Kiba had not noticed and had certainly not meant to he had wacked several villagers on his way to the academy. Fortunaely for the careless young boy none of them were particualry ornary and he managed to arrive at the academy unscaved. with a few more swings he 'sheathed' his little wooden blade and looked about him to see what was going on.

Karite knew when he was beat. There was no point in speaking back, because Kore and Baki both wrestled all the time Maya's body did not look like that because she had fallen so many times. Cleaning the glass up quickly Karite was beginning to become bored with this class. He would much rather speed things up to fight snake eyes. That would be the highlight of his day. Standing over the boys limp body would be nothing short of blissful. Walking over to a trash can Karite dump the glass and sand into it and went back to his task at hand. Maybe this little break would help him in his task. A lass it seemed it didn't, for the sand on his hands did not help his grip but loosen it. As Karite connected with the bar he had a swinging motion with only caused his hands to slip easier. As before so many times Karite's body propelled forward and towards the ground. Down the boy went in front of his Sensei's feet. "This is the dumbest thing I have ever down in my entire life." the harsh words spoken through squinted eyes were directed at the red haired man in front of the now laying boy.

"Then why are you here and not doing all the important things in your life?" Shinichi replied, scowling. The boy ran into a little obstacle and he was condemning the training as if it were mere chores. His attitude made the man wonder what kind of shinobi he would turn out to be if he considered any type of strength training to be a waste of time. The kid didn't look like he wanted to specialize in genjutsu or ninjutsu; The jo he carried proved that. Shinichi glanced around the room, searching for a tangible example to further mock the kid with when a living example kata-ed into the room. "See that boy there, swinging his sword without any application of strength? Skill will only take you so far before you need to rely on brute strength. Kiba! Hit me on tsuki as hard as you can with your bokken," he barked, pointing to his throat. Shinichi nodded at the boy, motioning for him to attack.

One, two, three! Orika gritted her teeth as she went for another pull up, silently repeating the number 3 to herself. It was only three pull ups and she would be done and would beat those ego-maniacal boys! If they would stop yapping and keep trying, well then they'd have been done already. Karite even had bigger muscles and could jump a whole foot higher than she could. And she didn't want to start on Shisei and how unfairly low his bar was. He only injured one foot and could easily use the other to propel him up. Silly boys... "So are you just gonna quit?" she asked the grumbling wild boy, putting on a wide smile as she lifted herself over the bar a second time. "You ain't gonna beat nobody if you stop, ya know." The girl stopped and observed her irritated sensei. Her eyes went big, wondering what the violent man had in mind when he asked Kiba to strike him. Was he taking out his anger on the boy for being late? Ah, it wasn't as if Kiba really had a choice. He was marked for elimination if he went against sensei. "Knock him out, Kiba-kun!" Orika yelled, despite the slugs that wormed their way 'round her tummy when she was scared. She was about to pump her fist and realized at the last moment that she needed to hold onto the bar.

Karite opened his eyes and scowled right back this man was not going to scare him. Sliding away before Kiba hit the crazed blood solider in the throat he jumped back to his bar from where he stood, maybe this distance would help considering his jumping was much higher then anyone in the academy. In the end Karite's cocky attitude got the better of him as his judgment was off. Sailing through the air the only part of him that managed to touch the bar was his finger tips. Considering the fact that his muscles were not up to the challenge today it would be interesting to see how his fight went with Shisei.

((Sorry for all the dice but I cant see straight and messing with this glitch is horrible))

Karite was beginning to wonder if he was nothing more then a pretender. He couldn't do the simplest of task no matter the situation. If it were up to him then this would be a day for fighting or learning a jutsu. Whatever those were. These people all knew why they were here and where they were going, but to Karite it was all an experience that could lead him to a new beginning or to a different end. This was his only chance to prove his was more then just a rich boy from the wave country, but he was a fighter and even a hero. Looking up at this bar it all seemed for not.

Many things were occurring around the snake child. The daughter or Mehos had not only finished one set of push ups. She completed another, more difficult set before any other student could finish the first exercise. The girl then bounded out of the classroom to parts, Shisei did not bother to hear or follow. That girl will become a nuisance in the future. Depending how strong she was now would determine just how troublesome she would be. Speaking of troublesome females Orika too was making herself a bit irritating. Not that she was irritating. It was just getting embarrassing.

Shisei heard Karite’s words and would have responded if it had not been for the farm girl’s words. The two of them were spouting who was the best while some newcomer just finished the exercise. Orika was near finishing also. Once again the serpent youth had to wonder just what happens to the females of this land. They must have some well kept secret to success. Gold eyes peered at hopper as her frame continued to persevere. She only had one more to go. The serpent youth and young lion still had all three to do. Perhaps the boys should focus their attention more on the girls since they were the ones progressing. With his one good foot, the maverick leaped into the air and grasped the pole. What Izumi had told him would did come in handy, but that was only the beginning. The harder part was coming. Pale stared at Orika as she struggled with the last exercise. “After saying that to Karite you better not stop now.” Shisei said to the diva as the boy tried to pull himself up.

"I don't intend to!" Orika huffed, breathing ragged from hanging onto that stupid bar for so long. Her palms were on fire while slick liquid seeped out of the pores. Each second that passed made it logarithmically harder to keep a firm grip. Maybe, just maybe she could grasp the bar with one hand and wipe the other on her pants. "I shoulda listened to sensei!" the farm girl gasped. Her pinkies were coming loose now. Any second and she'd feel her bottom meet hard, cold floor. Orika glanced at Shisei who had managed to pull himself up, wondering how many pull ups he managed while she was slipping off. One? None? Oh, gawd, why was she worried about him when her own training was in danger? "Huh, watch how it's done, Shisei!" Words shakingly slid out of her mouth as the girl took a reassuring breath and went for the final pull up. At first her muscles refused to move. They were exhausted and needed rest NOW! Orika wrestled with the bar and wrenched her neck as high as she could get it. Come on...! She couldn't back out after boldly declaring that she'd have the training done! Eh, was it better to go all out or do it little by little? Gravity answered for her. Orika's muscles gave way and her body shot towards the ground like a bullet. She closed her eyes, waiting for the impact. Instead, as her organs jolted when she hit rock bottom, the girl clenched the bar until her white knuckles shone and put all her strength into one last pull. "Ugh!" Orika moaned as her head slipped past the bar. She grinned and let go, landing clumsily on her back. Whoopie. The girl flipped on her stomach and waved to the two boys. "Who's the big scary killer now?" she giggled.

The snake child didn’t really believe she would have done it. He would have bet against her hundred times. Yet the tanned rabbit actually pulled it off. She was the second person to finish the exercise. If Shisei was a betting boy, he’d be bankrupt and loan sharks would be searching for him. What was this innate strength that not only Izumi, but perhaps Orika also possessed? It was incoherent to the natural flow of things. Something that the viper faced boy could not compute. This illogical event began to make him vex. The gold eyes stared at the diva as she teased the two boys. Karite’s resolution was beginning to wane from this training. Now the lion child was starting to pester Ero-sensei about the sensibility of the training. “Just finish the exercise, before that Raiken girl shows us up next…” Shisei said to the rival reaper. Four boys in the room and not one of them could keep up with a girl. This was more than embarrassing. This was the worse type of tragedy.

Shaking away these thoughts, pale arms and chalk colored fingers began to pull the rest of the boy’s skeleton up. The snake child could feel his muscles stretching more than usual. It was because of the sleepless night with sly smile. Regardless the intellectual student managed to pull his until the short chin of his body was a few centimeters above the bar. Just two more…

Shisei's face could hide an army, but his lemon, sour eyes told a lot, particularly that he wasn't pleased that she'd surpassed him. Orika didn't really know why he felt that way; the baby snake's was pretty weak for his age as shown by his pale demeanor and antipathy against any physical training. In fact, he should have been the one to question Shinichi's motives, not the athletic Karite. Boys were so weird! "If you're so ticked at my success, why'd you help me?" Orika asked, slumping until her chin pressed against the icy floor. She was too pooped to bounce out of the academy like that Izumi girl. Rusty eyes met Shisei's intense yellow, the traces of red in both students' orbs magnified substantially as they stared at each other. Was red the color of luck or rivalry in this case? Orika pouted when she couldn't come up with an answer to the competitive boys by herself, so she dragged herself over to the puzzle she'd been trying to finish. It didn't make sense; Why spend all the energy bragging about how you were gonna rip another person's throat out? Why do and say stupid things just to get the edge over them? Orika tapped a cardboard puzzle piece impatiently, then got up and turned the chair so that she sat facing the rest of the class. Her eyes landed on Shinichi-sama; Would he know why boys fought so much? No, he mentioned not having much of a boyhood. Plus, who was there that could compete with the Crimson Death?

“Cause I didn’t think you’d actually do it…” the viper began to think, but he did not let his thoughts escape his mind. Despite his impassive features she was still quick of mind to perceive his actions. His tongue had to choose his next words carefully. If not the energy rabbit may try to turn carnivore and eat him again. As he stared into the mahogany pupils his mind could not come up with an idea. Luckily Orika would make the next move. She broke their eye lock and moved on to fidget with a puzzle. The duration of their stare was enough time to have the tiny muscles in his arms stretch to their limit. Shisei could no longer hold on and fell from the bar. His form landed with his weight on the injured ankle. This caused him to stumble forward slightly, but he remained standing. Drat! Another failed attempt. Lady luck was smiling down upon her daughters, but seemed to have no benevolence for her sons. “I helped because you were almost finish. When you’re that close you might as well succeed.” the Orochi youth stated tersely to her question. His eyes moved away from her puzzle fiddling and back to the bar. The tactile mind contemplating what next to try.

Did her questions bother Shisei enough that he lost control of the bar? Orika stared wide-eyed, not sure what the boy would do to her next. She could tell that he found her annoying, through narrowed eyes and frowns yesterday to threats and a killer chi today. Ducking her head, the girl tried to concentrate on the puzzle, making any excuse to advert her eyes from the boy that she was pretty sure now wanted to eat her. However, her mind skipped between the charging snake that she expected to slither her way and the bold red colors that lined the edges of a disturbing number of pieces. Orika found herself nodding and humming an affirmation to Shisei's excuse, though still noting the silent fuming marked by his tone. She wasn't so much afraid of what he would do to her if she pushed the line, but rather of losing a potential friend. It was obvious that anybody who wasn't the snakelet's ally could only stand in his way and Orika was fairly certain that enemies didn't give benefits. They only stole what was good in your life, even if that be something like time. Now why couldn't Karite and Shisei realize that? Orika smirked sagely and fiddled around with the puzzle for a moment. Shisei wouldn't be pissed at her if it weren't for that evil exercise, right? She tested a few words on the edge of her tongue, then remarked, "I don't see why you have to wait 'til a person's close to being finished to help them. Seems that the ones struggling need the most aid."

Serena worked up her energy again to grab the bar for a third time. Why did they have to do such a boring exercise? She knew, of course, that it would help her in some way..but she felt like there should be some other..less boring way to do so. A momentarily push through the Raiken's legs brought her up high enough to grab the bar steadily. She held pretty well like the last time. It was just the matter of pulling up. Serena smiled at the sound of Shisei's comment. 'That's right..he still doesn't know my name yet..that gives me an advantage over him.' Though she had the advantage, the girl still resolved to tell him her name the next time they talked. After all, Shisei had already given in with his name...

Serena let out a small breath before pulling up. It seemed obvious to her that the result of even trying would be her ending on the ground again. She didn't have much strengh in her arms or shoulders..at least she found that out today. There was no knowing how strong or weak she was in the legs yet. This was actually the first time in a long time the Raiken actually did some kind of conditioning to work her body. The conditioning was winning so far. Serena struggled a bit and pulled up, awaiting her hands to slip off like the last time. Very surprisingly, though, the fall did not come. She pulled it through and came down alright. It did not make her feel anymore excited, though. Afterall..there were still two more pull-ups to go.
