And in the end, most cameras Thom would notice from time to time were positioned just over head-height in the trees, from a vantage where they could get a clear shot of the deer paths or open areas of the jungle below. Once he rose above some of the layers of the canopy where a camera would be blocked by foliage beneath, he saw fewer. While admittedly, not all cameras are always visable, what wasn't seen might be gauged by how frequently the visable cameras were placed.
And then, slowly, the crashing around and the pursuit grew further away. And then, finally, abruptly, seemed to cease as the guards were luckily rerouted in a different direction where a more immediate threat was taking place.
Thom was in the clear. For now.
