Oh, God, what have I done?
Emerwyn leaned over Julian, moving his hair out of his face gently with one hand. The other brushed her hair from her own face, as her head rested on his chest, feeling for his breathing. Not just to see if it existed at all, but to see if it was regular. Her head moved up and down in a steady pattern with his chest.
She took one of his hands, the clawless one, in her own, gently caressing it. She stroked his face, and started to hum.
The trees were giving her a new song. A song for Julian.

Even if he couldn't quite hear it...the hum was calming.
His head tilted to one side, leaning into her touch, relaxing. All at once, there was a low rumble in the back of his throat....
...
Julian was purring.

The purr vibrated against Emerwyn's hand and she smiled warmly.
She continued to hum, the words starting to come to her. She let them go as they did, so tranquil had she become, no control over what she was singing.
I'm going to say this once But you'll hear it ev'ry day. You'll know that you can count On me.
Just hear my words to you And you'll always find your way. You'll know you've found a friend In me.
"Breathe in and breathe out The Story still unfolds With the Chapters yet untold. But you will move onward And, it's always up to you To decide It's time to wake up."

He rolled over slightly, onto his side...calm and quiet, listening to the song with the purr in his throat....
...Then on the wind drifted a long, haunting sound. A howl.
He shuddered heavily, his eyelids clenching. Stirring.

Emerwyn heard it too. The hairs on her back stood up on end.
Her head turned toward where she estimated it had come from.
It has to be... on of the Islanders...
A wolf's howl...
Even with her acute hearing, she couldn't tell how far away it was. But, she knew that the Islanders were developing animal instincts. And she, and even Julian, were fair game for a predator.
And Julian, in his current state, was a sitting duck.
"Julian," she called, softly at first. She patted his cheek lightly, and called again, a little louder, "Julian."

"Mm...."
It took a moment or two, but his eyes slowly opened, green gaze settling on the woman leaning over him.
"...E-Emerwyn...?" He winced, noticing all at once that he was in...rather a lot of pain.
"...Wh-what...?"

"Listen, did you hear that?" Emerwyn spoke softly still, for Julian's sake, and out of a kind of hushed fear. She didn't know why she felt so threatened...
"I-I think we should move away from here..."
But, then, what if one of the Islanders is in trouble? ... Ambrose. Ambrose was turning into a wolf...

"...Move....?" Groaning, he tried to push himself into a sitting position. He was hurting - badly - but Emerwyn did seem frightened....
As he got his bearings, he began to notice blood all over Emerwyn. It was...his own. He looked down at himself...noticing with a bit of embarrassment that he was shirtless, and all the current imperfections of his skin were showing.
"...Where...?"

Emerwyn's breathing got faster. She was starting to freak a little.
"I don't know... I couldn't hear where it came from..."
She got up abruptly, looking around her.
"But, I know it was one of the Islanders... Something's wrong..."
It was dark. She didn't want to be running around the woods at night.
"What should we do?" She looked down at Julian; the one who had been leaning on her for support now being asked for help.

Julian glanced around, then looked at Emerwyn. His bright green eyes caught snatches of light - and they appeared to glow. He blinked.
"...Maybe...we should...."
He thought for a long moment. He was scared, too - and he was uncomfortable leading a situation.
"...Find a clearing...make...make a fire...?"
Wincing heavily, he made his way to his feet, wobbling....
And reaching out to grab the first thing he could to steady himself.
Which would be Emerwyn's shoulders.

Emerwyn stumbled a little as Julian helped himself up, but she regained her footing, and lent a hand.
"Maybe..." concern filled her. She didn't know whether to be scared of the cry, or sympathetic towards it.
"Which way should we go?" She asked, regaining composure a little. "Your night vision will be better than mine. You can lean on me; I think as soon as we get our fire going I'll have to tend to your wounds before we take any other action."
Not only had Emerwyn been aquainting herself with the plantlife here, she also had a limited knowledge of herblore, enough to make teas and simple remedies. Jerrick's best friend, Ketta, was an herbalist.
"We also need to find the river. I don't know about you, but I haven't drank anything all day." She only just now realized how thirsty she was. And hungry.

"...We can...head towards the river, then." His voice was a little sheepish. And to further his embarrassment...his stomach picked now to roar.
His cheeks turned red.
"...I'll be your eyes. Could...could you...." He paused, rather unhappy with what he was about to ask.
"...Help me try and sniff out the river? I think...it would smell different...."

"Don't worry. That is a scent I know well."
She closed her eyes, and breathed in deep.
Emerwyn didn't seem to notice how embarassed the young man was growing.
She stuck her arm around him and underneath his for support.
She pointed out the general direction in which she sensed the water. "Lead the way."

Leaning on Emerwyn, he licked his lips, wincing as he tasted blood. She was counting on him. He...had to get her through safely.
Blinking a few times, he started forward, picking his way around the trees and fallen branches.
"...This way. Watch out...for the log right in front of you...."(( http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?page=1&t=1922599#43458947Continued....))

Colche was used to living in the jungle. of course keeping her bunny close to her was prooving to be a problem and some time during the nigth the fluffy white rabbit had boinged off, probably back to the duplex, she was sure he had a homing beacon. She had curled up happily in her old curve of ground in the jungle, it was a small clearing. Unfortunately, she had lost pyroth some where. this didn't please her in the least but she was pretty sure she would refind him eventually. Her blue eyes were caught by soemthing above her head though as they opened and her cat like reflexses made ehr dive after the thing. A pastle blue butterfly flutterd about her head and she giggled watching it for a moment before bounding off after the pretty dusty blue thing. maybe it would lead her to pyroth or other people? It was a little worrying that she couldn't get in to her duplex still but being the most worryfree creature ([possibly) on the island play and chasing butterflies came before worrying. Besides Aubrey would come back and make everything good again,s he had promised after all.
