Phoenix took a moment to stretch his limbs, arms raising, flaring his wings out also. The male Kitsusagi groaned, thouroughly liking how it felt. A broad sleepy grin on his face formed on his maw - happy that something so simple as a good stretch felt so pleasing.
He bounded off after Morgana after that, more than confident with walking along the ground, seeming to be in much higher spirits already.
"I'm glad you know the way." He grinned at her. "When I first arrived here, I was hopeless. I can't read maps, and I can't navigate very well." He wagged his tails at the thought of getting cleaned up, and then took a comb out of his pocket to begin brushing the sticks and leaves out of his hair.
"Thanks again," He said to her. "This has to be one of the nicest things anyone has done for me since I got here."

"Well, I certainly couldn't leave you up there, wouldn't be the right thing to do. And we will have to get you some friends to help show you the way around here." she said with a smile, trotting along and folding her black and red wings along her back.

Phoenix continued to follow after the female, trotting along awkwardly on his hind legs, walking as if he was meant to be a biped. His attention was on his hair now, or at least what little of it he could see. He combed the hair back, not quite acheiving his signature spiked-look, but at least it was neater now.
"I have some friends," He grinned in response. "Back on the Mountain. I'm currently rooming in with them until I can build a house of my own to live in. Don't know how I'm going to manage that, but..." He shrugged. "But yeah! I could always use more friends." He wagged his tails.
His attention was soon turned to Morgana's wings. For a moment he wondered if he could see bones amongst all the feathers, and stopped, staring at them.
"Uh..." He began, awkward. "Don't your wings hurt? Aren't you in pain there?"

She looked over her shoulder at him, "Why would my wings hurt? They are just fine." she said, wondering what was up with him.

"Well, uh, I dunno, they um...." Phoenix bit his lower lip, stopping. He had gotten himself stuck now. He knew it was most probably rude to press on about her looks, but the fact that he could see bones and blood worried him quite a lot. He had already offered to help bandage up her 'injuries', but she seemed just fine with it.
"Your wings," He said finally, giving up on beating about the bush. "They just look... unhealthy?" He gritted his teeth suddenly, thinking that might have sounded rude. "I don't know, they're just... well... look at your wings." He fanned out his own, motioning to the right one with his snout. "See? No bones, no blood. Just... silly coloured feathers."

Morgana sighed as she looked on ahead, "This isn't actual bone, though my blood is real. It is just how my fur is patterned on my body, to look like a skeleton. I am fine, really I am." she said.

"Oh... I hope so. Because, it looks painful." Phoenix replied, frowning with concern. After another moment he put the comb back into a pocket in his suit, trotting along beside the female on all-fours. "As long as you're sure about being alright. Bleeding though, that's generally a sign of injury..."
"There's a good thing in having patterned fur like that, though." He grinned, trying to make the situation lighter. "You already have yourself properly outfitted for halloween."

She gave a chuckle, but decided not to say anything about her blood. It was a sore topic for her and something she didn't talk with anyone about, except she told a rare few of how she came about to bleed eternally. She flicked her ears about when she saw the shop just up ahead and she quickened her pace.

Phoenix sighed, giving up on the subject now. Her lack of response was a clear indicator to him that she didn't want to talk about it at all. He just continued to follow alongside her, relaxing his wings out again, pulling left one back slightly as it brushed against hers.
"Sorry..." He said quickly. "I uh... you shoulda just told me to shut up. Sometimes I don't know when to quit. That's one of the faults of the lawyer, I guess... it's my job to push on and on for information. I really shouldn't have, and I'm sorry." He gave her a weak lopsided apologetic grin.
When he himself saw the building ahead, he also quickened his pace. Curiousity was beginning to stir within him, and he wanted to see what was inside. Especially if it was like the Mountain HQ house.

She gave him a small, reassuring smile, "It's alright really, it's just....hard....to really talk about, especially with someone outside of my family." she said. She walked up to the door and pushed it open and then stepped aside so he could walk in first.

"I can understand, and really respect that." Phoenix nodded in response. "I have issues of my own that are really hard to talk about, even with friends. I wouldn't dare mention it to my family. Not that I really have any here..."
The spiky-haired male Kitsusagi stepped up to the door, but did not go inside. He flashed her a big wide grin as he raised his paw above hers, helping hold the door open.
"No," He said to her, shaking his head. "Ladies first."

She gave a grin and a chuckle, "You are certainly a gentleman! But what is a lawyer, I have never heard of anyone like that." she asked as she stepped inside.

Phoenix lowered his head slightly, grinning further. If he didn't have a layer of fur on his face, the fact that he was now blushing would easily be noticeable.
"Oh, what's a lawyer? Well, they're... um." His eyes wandered skywards for a moment as he pondered the question and how best to explain. "It's my job and my profession to give legal advice to others, and to help them out if they're in any trouble. Let's say... just suppose for a moment, that somebody framed you for murder, and that you were arrested because you were being accused of committing it. You have a right to defend yourself and plead your case, your side of the story. And thus, you'd hire somebody like me to do that for you."
"I'm a Defense Attorney," He continued, grinning proudly now. "My job would be to represent you in court and to defend you. My entire job is to provide decisive evidence to prove that you could not have possibly committed the murder you were being accused of."
“Er, does that make sense?” He scratched the side of his head. “In short, I stand up for others when they're being blamed for a crime they didn't commit.”

She listened silently as she made her way to the bathroom so he could get himself cleaned up. She stood at the door and turned to face him, smiling and nodding her head, clearly impressed over his job, "Yes, that does make sense and it sounds like a very honorable position. I doubt you would need to defend someone for murder, there are beings here that would never allow one Kitsusagi to kill another." she said, pushing the door to the bathroom open for him.

"I like to think it's helpful to others. I also feel strongly about helping others who can't stand up for themselves. Somebody once did that for me when I was young, and I'll never forget their kindness." He explained, quietening, silent for a moment as a distant memory came to mind. The grin faded from his face, and the Kitsusagi seemed momentarily troubled, upset even.
He quickly shook it off.
"It can be tiring work, especially when evidence is hard to gather. But in the end it's worth it, especially if it means acquitting an innocent person."
He followed Morgana into the building, blinking for a moment as he peered into the bathroom. He looked around the room, noting that it was very similar to the bathroom he had back in his apartment when he had been a human. Without hesitation, he moved into the room, standing in front of the sink. He wet his paws, then began to run them through his hair, neatening it.
"Thanks for all of your help, Morgana." He said quickly. "I must seem pretty hopeless. Everything is still hard to get used to."
He turned his attention back to her, curious. "About what you said before... who would be around to prevent a murder? Sometimes they're not preventable."
