Gallant as always, the striped stallion decided to test what was ahead. "Stay there in case I get stuck, then you can go for help." He waded through slowly, realizing that the mud only sucked in so far befor it became a shallow bank. With a sudden splaoosh he dropped into the cold water, the bank giving way to the harder, rock floor. Wading a little further out he felt the ground drop a little but nothing too serious. The river was crossable here and he sighed in relief when he reached the other side. Stumbling up the other side of the bank he slipped a little in the mud but was able to get back out of the water. "It's muddy... and cold but we can cross here if you wish."

Evelyn allowed herself a small sigh of relief. She would have hated for the stallion to get stuck.
"Alright." He had already made it across, and she was not about to make him come all the way back. To do so would be folly. Why not cross, if he proclaimed it safe?
She stepped into the river, shivering gently as the cool water touched her skin. She chose her path carefully, though wadded across with speed any predator would envy.
She stepped out beside him, her dappled grey coat shimmering as droplets of water rolled off it and fell to the ground.
"Shall we continue?"

"First we probably should dry off a little." The stallion had spotted a few large rhubarb leaves close by and, remembering their uses from his growing up with Dayunsi, Cadance saw potential. Grabbing at a few with his teeth he gently rubbed them down her sides to make sure most of the water had been rubbed off her flanks. "It wouldn't do to catch a chill here, and the ground is too muddy to dry off on the grass." Usually he just rolled upon the ground until he was dry but the conditions just weren't right for that. After finishing making sure she was dry he dropped the leaves to the side and nodded. "Ok, lets continue on shall we?"
