As for yaoi, it's a japanese term for boy/boy smut. It's generally applied to manga and anime with explicit boy/boy sexual content. I attended a lecture on yaoi, shonen-ai (originally the non-explicit version of yaoi, that is, boy/boy romance, now meaning mostly older men with young boys) and Boys' Love (what boy/boy romance is called now) at a con a few months ago and most of the info is still fresh in my head.
