grey wanderer A Lost Iguana I apologise profusely. I wonder which other golden oldie has not made an appearance for a while. neutral Time travel/teleportation are always good bets. I just time traveled one minute into the future, It was 9:51 just a second a go, but now its 9:52. Wow my invention does work! Now for longer distances of time.... I think I'll try five minutes. And than I'll try going backwards!

In my pre-college days I used to pronounce ''Minkowski'' in a way that rhymes with "Lebowski". Embarrassment all 'round.

...I don't know how either of those words is supposed to be pronounced. I'll just assume that I'm pronouncing both wrong, and save myself the time.

I never know how to pronounce words: I always stress the wrong diphthong or syllable.
How do you pronounce Minkowksi correctly? MIN-kow-SKI and not Min-KOW-ski? I dunno.
It bothers me that I'll start calling the "Zed" boson the "Zee" soon enough. >_>

But apparently it's Min- KOV-ski. With assonance between the middle syllable and ''cob'' (as in corn on the cob). Minkowski's German or something like that I think? So I go for the german pronunciation. The first time I saw the name I pronounced it min-cow-ski though.

Do you think mathematicians are lazy?
My maths lecturer always says "Because us mathematicians are lazy..."

This is the most random thing I've seen in quite a while: Such a bizarre jumble of constants. It almost makes intuitive sense, and then...it doesn't.

I think talking about PDF sets is quite a tongue-twister. The next-to-next-to-leading order [NNLO] versus next-to-leading order [NLO]. Or how about next-to-next-to-leading-logarithm [NNLL], to make you completely blurt out nonsense. So when discussing how the MSTW paper about the MRST2006-NNLO set compares with the MRST2004-NNLO set, but the coming MSTW2007 set will only NLO. Either way, we need to worry about NNLO QED/electoweak corrections to Drell-Yan because no one has really done NNLO QED and NNLO QCD: we've done NNLO QED with LO QCD and NLO/NNLL QED with NNLO QCD. But people prefer CTEQ65 because it is more conservative than MRST.
*eyes glaze over*
