"Nah, it wouldn't be any fun without you," Selaba said, nudging him playfully. For a moment she wished she had hands, because she felt like tickling him. She'd seen humans tickling others, and it seemed fun. "Well. if you're hungry we could find something to eat instead."

"Nah, I'm not really that hungry." Axel's stomach thought differently though and objected with a growl. "Alright, maybe I am hungry after all." The anthro got up off the ground and dusted himself off. "So, you lead the way?"

"Sure," Selaba said as she stood up and stretched. "I'm kind of in the mood for meat. Do you like fish? If not we can stick to fruit."

"Fish is fine I guess, though I must well you I'm not much of a fisher." 'Or a water lover...' "So, where are we headed?" Axel asked as he looked around.

"That's ok, grandpa taught me how to fish. I know a good place to catch them, too." Selaba led the way to a wide but slow-moving stream, then found an area where it widened into a small pool. On one side the grassy bank formed a small overhang, and she crouched on it, watching the water below.

The pool was full of fish, especially the part that was shaded by the overhang. It didn't take long to spot a good one, and Selaba carefully inched a paw towards the water. In one quick movement she plunged her paw in the water and tried to scoop the fish out, just like a cat catching a fish. Unfortunately she forgot to factor in the way that water refracts the image of anything seen through it, so her aim was off and the only thing she splashed out of the stream was water. "Missed it," she muttered, then went back to watching the water.

It only took a couple more tries before Selaba succeded in flinging a large trout from the stream. She quickly pounced on it before it could wriggle back into the stream, and just as quickly bit it behind the head to snap it's spine. "There, got one," she said happily. "Think we'll need another one?" she asked Axel.

Axel followed Seleba and sat back to watch her fish. He didn't want to get too close to the lake, so he just watch from a distance. The red head continued to watch as a trout flew out of the water, thanks to Seleba. He twitched as the sound of the spine cracking entered his ears. 'that just didn't sound right...'

He was broken from his tought by Seleba's question.

"Oh yeah, you take care of that and I'll go start a fire or something. Go ahead and take your time with it."

Selaba nodded and went back to the overhang. She figured Axel must really dislike water if he was staying that far back from the stream. She crouched above the pool and watched the water intently again. The fish were a bit more timid now that they'd been disturbed a couple times, but there were still some good ones out in the open. She'd gotten the hang of fishing, and on her first try she scooped up another large fish. This one slipped out from under her when she tried to pounce on it, though, and she nearly fell into the stream. She managed to regain her footing in time to catch it before it got away again, and swiftly killed it to keep it from making another break fro freedom. It had gotten rather dusty, though, so she grabbed it in her mouth and carried it slightly downstream to rinse it in the stream before bringing it to Axel.

"I think that ought to do for now," she said, satisfied.

Axel went out in to the forest to go collect some wood. It was a pretty easy task when he noticed wood littered the forest ground. Walking back with arms full of wood he noticed Seleba was still fishing. 'perfect'

Dropping the wood, he made sure his back faced Seleba to make sure she couldn't see what he was doing. 'Better make this quick...I just hope I don't mess this up..' he thought to himself. Concentrating with ahnds cupped, a few sparks danced around his hands before a small flame appeared. He dropped the fire on top of the wood and the fire was stated.

(Aw, so he wants to hide the fact that he creates fire? Pity, it would be fun to RP her reaction. razz )

The fire had been started and was crackling merrily by the time Selaba brought over both the fish. She looked at it a bit curiously, since she didn't have much experience with fire. She did know enough to know what it could be used for, and after a moment a thought occured. "Are you planning to cook the fish, then?" she asked Axel.

(( I'm not sure he wants Seleba to know yet. I mean it would be a hard thing to explain. XD But, one could always question him on it if they wanted answers as to the fire came about. ))

Axel sat back and nearly jumped as Seleba came in to sight. he didn't know if she had seen him or if she would question him on how he started to fire. The confused look answered his question as he sighed inside. "Well, I'm going to cook mine. I don't really eat anything raw."

(I can think of a more amusing way for her to find out. What do you say to one of his eventual offspring being able to breathe fire or something?)

"The fruit's been raw," Selaba pointed out in an amused tone. "In any case, I haven't eaten much cooked food, though I wouldn't mind trying it. Could you cook my fish, too?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 23, 2007 1:40 pm

((That would be amusing. I wonder how Axel will explain that. I wonder when they will have kits...))

"Well that's true, but fruit is meant to be eaten raw isn't it and sure I'll cook your fish." Axel took some sticks what haden't been caught in the fire and then took the fish. Carefully he inserted the sticks in to the fish and stuck the sticks in to the ground, making sure the fish weren't really in the fire so they wouldn't burn. "There, now we just have to wait."

(Well, we could make them have kits at any time...though RP-wise they don't seem to be there yet.)

Selaba watched Axel set the fish to cook, then lay down near him. She found watching the fire somewhat fascinating and couldn't help staring at the bright, flickering wisps of flame as they danged around the wood. She smoke she could do without, however; when a gust of wind blew a cloud of smoke into her face it stung her eyes and caught in her throat. She had to close her eyes and turn her head away to cough for a few moments to make them feel better.

Axel turned and started to pat Seleba's back when the smoke got to her. "Are you alright Seleba?" he asked. He sort of knew she wasn't really alright, but he didn't know what else to say. He did know smoke could do some damage, but it didn't seem to do anything serious to her.

"Yeah," she coughed, "I'm OK. Just a little smoke." She blinked eyes that were watering slightly from the smoke, then shifted so that she was slightly behind Axel, figuring that having him between her and the fire would probably block the worst of the smoke from reaching her again. As she settled down and resumed watching the fire, she asked, "About how long do you think it'll take the fish to cook?"
