Seriously, unless you want to get into a LONG discussion, don't get me started on the Twilight series. I AM OBSESSED. Yes, I tend to get obsessive over stuff that good now and then. I'm actually on my third time reading the current three. So, it's painfully obvious what my favorite books are. But I also love The Sight by David Clement-Davies. That and Fire Bringer are probably two of the saddest stories I have ever read. And following up on the current discussion of one Harry... I did notice plagiarism there. I used to like them, up until about the third. Then they went downhill very fast. And yet, my ability to memorize even the stuff I don't want to makes me able to tell you practically anything. That's simply messed up. I'm just going to stop my rambling now before I get too carried away...

I just finished reading the whole "Loveless" manga series, as far as we have it in the States--volumes 1-5. First reading besides work stuff that I've had a chance to do!
I suppose I should begin this year's re-read of LOTR and The Hobbit, someday soon... smile

I'm re-reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Been too long since I've read it and I need a refresher if I'm going to continue upholding my reputation as a walking LoTR encyclopedia. ^_~

Cool! I would also like to read those books but I am saving for something else instead.
Quick question for Jasta (or anyone else who knows): That "Loveless" wouldn't happen to be based on the one that can be seen on the game of Final Fantasy 7, would it? mrgreen Cuz there's a play in that game with that name.

Nope, not a bit of it. smile But it might be partly in homage to the game reference.
Loveless I think is a typical manga play on the high emo level... the fighter/sacrifice pairs in the story line all share a common name and a bond through the name, to enhance their magic. The main character, Ritsuka, is the sacrifice unit of the pair known as Loveless--probably because he's mourning his brother, and has an abusive mother. Lots of emotional layers in that story.

Hum. Books I have to reccommend would probably be ...
Arena by Karen Hancock
Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown (and not just for the popularity either)
Classics
Emma by Jane Austen (one of her minor works, doesn't get as much attention as Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility but its just as good)
Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel (Magical Realism classic, brilliant read, real page turner)
Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas (Which I am currently reading, if you need your swash buckled, certainly pick this one up, its a gem, lovely banter and witty humor)
And the lovely beatnik delicacy William Burroughs wrote a goodie called Naked Lunch ... quite insightful whee

Oh, manga! I just read this adorable manga called Demon Diary.... Its funny, there is a bit of boy-boy love (don't know if that's shojo-ai or not, >.<; I'm a bit forgetful on anime terms ...bleh) And there is also, Ghost Hunt, that's pretty good, I'm reading that one right now smile Fauxlorne If you've never read House of Leaves - just do it.... - Now that that is said... ~ I'm an Alice in Wonderland freak...... - - - - and I'll comment on Harry Potter in a moment or two.... I'm also a Harry Potter nut, I'm sure that will be a classic in a few years! (I've read and own all 7 books---book 5 Order of the Phoenix is the best)
