Hmmm, interesting response. Truthful, yet interesting. He gave a mental shrug to himself. If that was the reason he was going to get, then he wouldn't push any further.
"Well, perhaps you will stay with us a little longer than some other places you have ventured. I'd rather get to know one other Kalona better than have to deal with many others who are just passing through. It can get quite tiresome with introductions and young stallions trying to prove themselves. Or perhaps, running around with their tails between their legs." He glanced at her again, just out of the corner of his eye.
His words were true though. Learning new names and faces got tiresome when all they were going to do was pass on through. He rather much liked this land. Enough food in his own area to keep him satiated, plus the company of his own kind that didn't irritate him was a interesting thing most of the time. Though he hadn't come across too many he didn't like. But there were some exceptions.

She gave him a pleasant little smile. "If I find enough interesting people to keep me here, I just may extend my stay." If the stallion was any indication of the other kalona around here, she may stay indeed. Respectful, fierce. "And I should think the weak would have been weeded out by now among our kind." her voice was neutral, seeking more knowledge on those in the area.
She shifted her weight. This area was growing boring again, and while she may have just washed, the conversation had sparked back up her bloodlust. She licked her lips, debating. Something small and fast, perhaps. An easy snack, to keep her sated so her company did not become... incourteous. A rabbit? She'd never hunted with another of her kind so close, and wasn't sure she would dare to now. Blood could be a... touchy subject, though food was the least of her desires right now.

Valar's eyebrows furrowed deeply. Causing great lines to form deep crevaces along his forehead. This was definatly a topic of interest for him. One that made his blood boil like the firey liquid that simmered underneath the mass of a volcano.
"I wish that could be true. But for everyone that seems to be weeded out more seem to sneak through the cracks. I have come across such sorts. The 'kind hearted' Kalona who take themselves lessor 'mates' and produce such bastardized children. And those that call themselves UniKalona, is something new I have come to see." The thought of the Unicorns getting their pure little hooves on their kind made him almost wretch.
"But....it seems one may have some redeeming qualities. So I'm not going to sell him short just yet. He's going to be my little pet project of the sorts, even if it seems out of character." Another smirk curled the corner of his mouth upward, a flash of sharp teeth before it faded. "As for others of his kind, I'm not holding any hopes for them."
He noted her seemingly disinterest in the current surroundings with a raised eyebrow. "But the conversation seems to bore you? Do you have some other thoughts on something to preoccupy the time with?"

She stiffened. Felt a bubble of laughter. "Our kind, breeding with those vile one-horns? Was in an accident, a careless stallion?" she couldn't believe anything like that would happen willingly. It was ludicrous. "But if something worthy can come from that vile union, perhaps there is some hope. Mustn't be wasteful, no matter how disgusting in descent. After all, it wasn't his fault for that... lapse in judgement in his parentage." she conceded.
She glanced back at him. "It is not disinterest in the conversation." she assured him. "In fact, I am quite intrigued by what you can tell me. Though I find myself a bit..." she licked her lips, letting her desire for the hunt show through. "Antsy." she flicked her tail. "All the talk of blood. Unfortunately, it makes me a bit jittery. I've no excuse for my lack of control."

"Apparently the boy has no clue where it comes from. And is quite distressed about it. But I'm willing to overlook it, for now." His tail started to snake behind him again. It was a sub-conscious habit that he had no control over sometimes. The tail seemed to have a mind of it's own on occasion.
The talk of blood amongst Kalona could get any of their kind into a twitter about the fact. Valar gave a small chuckle inwardly as he eyed the mare. "I see. Well, don't let my presence keep you from dealing with something that's only natural."

"Poor thing." her voice was bland, though in some corner, she could feel sympathy for the other. One who could be a good kalona, trapped in a body that was, well... lesser. Defiled by something that it could not control. She shuddered visibly. What if she had been born like that? A fate worse than anything she could imagine... so close to being a kalona, and so far from attaining it, unable to move forward and achieve it, a goal unattainable through no fault of its own.
Her tail lashed out. "I do apologize." she inclined her head, and moved towards the trees, shaking eagerly, though she tried to hide it. "I don't even know what I wish to hunt. So many possibilities. Something small, I think, since I'm not hungry." Or something large. All the more blood, all the more struggle.

"Yes. But soon that will all come to pass. He just needs a bit of a personality tweak." Valar was quite grateful for the Kalona blood that flowed thickly through his veins. If he had been born any sort of mix more than likely he would have killed himself. A life seemed not worth living if you were stuck between two sides and accepted by neither.
He gave a nod of his head as he took a few steps forward. She could find herself something to kill then perhaps a bit more of conversation. Maybe she would be less figity if she got it out of her system now. Either way, he wouldn't interfere, just watch. Each Kalona had something different about the way they hunted, which intrigued him quite a bit. "I'm sure there is quite a bit around here that could satisfy your needs."

Personality tweak. She grinned toothily. "Poor thing afflicted with some of that unicorn blood? Does it affect his hunting skills at all?" She was curious, and now she was down to analyzation. She would have to seek out this creature, perhaps, and judge for herself.
She continued into the trees, nostrils flaring. Something to eat. A small rabbit would satisfy the immediate urge. She only wanted to watch it die, after all.
But the rabbit was a pipedream when she smelled the deer herd again. They had reformed, away from the field, and their fallen comrade. "What would you say to another deerhunt?" she murmured to herself. They bred quickly, after all. And smelled so delicious when they were frightened en masse.
She'd never been followed by another on a hunt. Since she was not hungry, she would happily back off if anything happened. Unless he went for her kill, which he doubted he would. If she was reading him right, he seemed the one to observe, and only move when necessary.

As he moved along, he maneuvered in and out of the shadows of the trees. Appearing then disappearing in what seemed all but one step. "Not really. He tends to have a more.....down in the mouth about his fate. But when it comes to hunting or killing he is blood thirsty to the core. Although it seems his blood lust is something hard to control for one such as himself and he needs monitoring."
Valar had long picked up on the scent of the herd of deer and figured that was exactly what she would be heading for. His eyes narrowed as he peered through the scattered scenery of the trees. An open aired area coming into focus as well as the deer that grazed in their sweet sense of security for the moment. "Sounds tempting really." The stallion had grown a bit hungry during their conversation. Perhaps a little snack wouldn't hurt.

How unfortunate. She shook her head. Even she could control it, though she did fidget when her blood was running hot. Zuli picked up speed, reaching the area where the deer had collected in no small amount of time. The silly beasts. They were huddled together, grazing peacefully. They must have thought that since they had lost one, they would not lose another so quickly. The sound of his voice made her blink, before she realized she must have asked her question out loud. Silly her.
She moved around the area in a semi-circle, making sure to remain downwind of the creatures, making sure to pay attention to the wind. How would she hunt them this time? She did so like the old fashioned hunting on hoof. All the better for a fight. Her eyes landed on a young buck, and she nodded. "I will be taking that one." her voice was low, firm. "If you would prefer to hunt him, tell me now. I've never hunted with another of my own kind this close, and I want to ensure there are no... incidents." Her voice was bland, blunt.
Kalona were not pack hunters, except when rearing young. At least none she'd met before. This was a unique experience for her.

"I'm not after that one. So he is all yours." With that, Valar had slipped back into the shadows completely out of sight as he started his hunt. Keeping low and out of range of sight and sound. His body twisted and zig zagged through the trees as he grew ever closer to his prey.
It would be swift. No need for stuttering or second thoughts. Eyes narrowed as he reached almost within two wings touch length. Still undetected. And there he waited for that moment. The one in which his senses would tell him to spring into action when it was right.

She watched him go silently. Tried to keep track of him. She knew where he was going, so could she tell where he was? She gave a grin as he disappeared into the foliage, and did the same. She moved quickly through the trees, silently, careful to avoid any branches in her way. Licked her lips. She almost hoped this buck would stand and fight, instead of running. Likely not... but one could still hope. She froze, still. His head was bent down, and his body was tilted at an angle. It was prime for a quick kill, but it would scatter the herd.
... She hoped Valarauco was in his prime position as well.

Valar had already chosen his position. And it was high time he got to taking advantage of the situation. From where he would come from, he predicted that the herd would flee in the opposite direction. Towards his female companion.
Quick as lightening, he darted out from the trees. Nothing more than a quick, dark blur as he sped across the ground. Hooves pounding heavily into the earth yet seemingly to not even touch it. And his target was off. Fleeing as quickly as it's hooves could carry it. But even with it's own swiftness, the Kalona could easily keep up.
He ran hard. Nipping at the rear of the young buck who's horns had barely started to take shape and length. They were always inexperienced. No matter how many times he came across one.
As he sped along after his own prey, the rest of the herd startled and fled. Not a second later did his front hooves come down upon the young buck's smaller skull. Knocking it to the ground. Before it could get up, another flurry of hooves came down upon it's back legs, crushing the bones with a sickening crack. He was now immobile. A perfect time to have a little fun.
Valarauco circled around the buck as it crawled along the ground with it's front hooves. Calling out to it's fellow herd mates for help. But none came. They had abandoned him. "Poor thing. All alone. It seems your friends have turned their back on you? Tsk. What kind of friends are those?" He asked the fallen buck in a tone of mock sympathy.

As Valar shot from the trees, she also made her move, speeding acoss the ground and grabbing her prey by the back of the neck as it ran, ripping. It gave loud screams of terror as she swung it, flinging the creature to the ground, which only served to incite the herd to greater terror. She aimed for the skull, but the deer was moving, crawling up, and instead, her hooves came down on it's back, knocking it back down. She certainly owed the stallion a thank-you... they'd been so startled by his appearance that they hadn't noticed her until it was far too late for her prey.
The deer managed to regain it's footing, and her tail lashed out, knocking it back down. The back of it's neck was a pretty mess. She broke the front legs of the creature slowly, gazing down at it with an almost gentle expression. It was screaming in pain and terror, thrashing on the ground. It was a truly lovely picture. She shuddered, licking her lips. It was an overload, she'd not enjoyed a kill like this in some time. The conversation had sparked the desire in her... and she gave in.
She moved away from the thrashing deer, watched it valiantly attempt to regain it's footing. Watched it fall. Circled it silently, a soft smile on her face. One ear flicked to listen to the other kalona's words as she watched her own prey sag on the dirt. She moved, dropped her body lower towards the ground. "It's okay." she whispered, almost soothingly. "You're doing just fine. Take your time. I don't mind killing you slowly."

The loud screams of his own prey had blocked out any other surrounding sounds. Of course, after a few minutes of it, the sound had grown quite annoying.
Making another brief circle around the deer, he watched it crawl and moan. Bleating out it's calls of help before he had had enough. One swift stomp of his large hoof had snapped the young buck's neck. Fractured bone put pressure on it's wind pipe and slowly suffocated it.
Valar watched as it twitched. Trying to draw in whatever it could, but such a thing was fruitless. The darkness truly shone in his eyes as he waited. All emotion had left his face as his eyes locked with his prey. The light fading quickly from the deer.
Before it had even stopped moving though, he ripped open it's stomach. Letting a flood of blood spill onto the ground as he tore flesh from bone in large chunks. Making quick work of the bucks twitching carcase.
