Mira blinked disbelievingly. He seemed to take to the idea of a new, inhabited country better than she thought he would. She wished she hadn't mentioned the psychics at all... school had taught her that when dealing with a human, not to reveal any sort of difference between them unless absolutely necessary. Speaking of that... She quickly looked down to her hands and clenched them, forcing her power into submission. She hadn't even realized he could see it. Hopefully, it hadn't been too glaringly obvious.

"Nothing! It's nothing." she said hurriedly, trying to brush it away. Time to get this human to the authorities, and that did not mean letting him in to where hundreds of fellow Bermudians, some without the capability of hiding their powers, could be found. "Y-You don't want to come down here." she said, trying to think of a decent reason, "The guards are all underground. They'll catch you for sure down here, especially in... that." she said, referring to his strange clothing. "If you're smart, you should go back to your p-plane and g-get out of here." At the very least, she wanted to stall for time. It would only be a matter of that before some figure of authority came to look at it. Any remaining Flighters would be nearly forced to investigate the alert, and once the plane was spotted.

She slowly began to lower herself to the ground, her brain finally allowing her some common reasoning. If the man did decide to jump down, she would simply shock the living heck out of him. She wondered if whatever substance inside the gun would ignite when she did that... Hopefully not. Maybe, if it was successful, she would get an award for her first duty as a... temporary Flighter. But now was not the time to think of that. She only wanted to get out of this with her life...

Slowly Kiandra moved towards the duo takng deep breaths. Calm down Kia, You can't help Mira by panicking. Moving her hands in a circle Kiandra formed the water into a tight round ball. With enough speed she'd be able to hit the man upside the head and knock him out.

Finally Kiandra got within 50 feet of her target. Although she stood directly behind the man she could tell that Mira had not yet noticed her. What if she did manage to hit the man and he was still able to shoot off his gun? Darn. Sighing lightly she stretched the water into a long coiling rope. She would have to do this the hard way. Gulping she called out in Bermudian, "Mira! Don't worry I am here to help." then she switched over to one of the more poplular human languages, english. "Excuse me sir but I believe Weapons such as that are outdated. You will not get far by threatening us with that ancient relic!"

"I don't care if the guards are all underground, they'll have figured out I'm above ground, and at least underground there's somewhere to hide. I-" He was cut off by another young woman. The voice took him off surprise; he whirled around, his two-handed grip back, the gun steady and careful again. "Don't," was all he said, his voice giving away the tension beneath his voice. He took a short step back, nearly falling into the hole again. "Do we all have to sit around, pointing weapons at each other, or shall we all just put them away, and talk logically?"

Mira paled as she heard Bermudian being spoken outside. Someone out there knew she was here, too? Her cover must have been worse than she thought. She pushed herself up to the edge of the hole to see who it was. She recognized the girl as one from her job as a harvester, but she couldn't recall her name, exactly... Kira... Kinada... Eh, it didn't really matter right now. What mattered is that she had the distraction necessary to enact her plan. His feet were right there... Just reach out and grab him.

"I'm really sorry about this." she said before making her decision. She shut her eyes and prayed that everything would be okay, before reaching out and grasping his ankle, sending a jolt into his body. If she were lucky she wouldn't kill him, if she were luckier he wouldn't be able to use the gun, at least momentarily. This much was certain: This human was dangerous, especially with the gun.

The shock traveling through his ankle could hardly have been more poorly timed. It was bad enough that she grabbed him in the first place; he flinched, but his training brought him only to flinch the trigger finger, and the spasm from the shock was all that was required to accidentally pull the trigger while the gun was pointed at Kiandra. The loudest, sharpest noise the Bermudians would surely have ever heard rang out; almost immediately, Paul lost his grip on the gun; it softly thumped to the ground as stars danced before his eyes. His legs gave way, and he slumped into the mud, stunned and slightly shaking. It only took three seconds, almost precisely, for him to recover his presence of mind and begin to search for the handgun with his left hand while he drew the combat knife with his right.

The moment the gun went off Kiandra already was jumping to the side. It was fortunate for her that she read so many books on human. The bullet grazed her left arm and a flash of pain shot through her. Angrily she formed the water in her hands into the tight ball and threw it with surprising speed at the man. "Mira! be careful, who knows what else he has planned!"

((Take no offense, but how did she know he was going to shoot? He was shocked into doing it; it happened in less than a second.))

((I don't care what happens, it doesn't change what Mira is gonna do. razz ))

Mira didn't stay to figure out what had happened to the man. The instant the shock left her body, she took off running. There was no way a kid like her could take down an adult human, especially an armed lunatic like that one. Instead, she opted to run down the tunnel to the nearest alarm system, opening the switch and slamming the button. This alert was different than the other one, it signaled imminent danger to any Bermudians in the area. This would surely summon some sort of help...

She turned and fidgeted, unsure of what to do now. The girl certainly couldn't handle the human on her own, either... She should try to help, but that gun was so frightening...

Mira clenched her teeth and gripped her static-charged fists before turning and beginning her run back to the end of the tunnel. Even if she was no help... watching the Flighters take care of the human should at least be worth seeing.

Kiandra blinked as Mira took off down her tunnel. A moment later sirens, audible only to bermudians, began to sound. Grabbing her pouch of water from around her waist Kiandra drew out more water and turned it into a net. She began to tremble slightly. If he had another gun on him....
