Tristan probably wouldn't have thought anything about flirting had it not been for Kaindra mentioning it. He had been out of the dating game for so long he had forgotten how to pick up on things like and most likely wouldn't notice flirting if it hit him in the face.
He turned very faintly red at the thought and nodded, sticking his hands in his pockets to see if he could find a piece of paper or something. "I'll write it down when we get back to civilization," he said after coming up with nothing.

"Cool, great." Kainda grined a bit and rubbed the back of her head a bit. She turned to look back to the kid, grining a bit. This was nice, she was glad she came out. She hoped they wold go back to the flowers though. She really could use some for her new apartment, it was so stuffy, it always took a few days before a new place started to feel a bit like home, of course normally then she was having rent problems.
She loved this free living space idea. "So how long have you been living here?" she asked him. "At the compound, do you know many of the other people livning here? I've only met one other group, a hawk boy, Gavin or something."

Tristan decided walking now would be a good idea, after all he was the one who was suppose to be leading them out of the woods and back to the gardens and such.
"A while," Tristan said, "I had to wait quite a while before Holden showed up too. I'm not sure exactly how long, but it is a long time."
At the mention of Gavin, Tristan smiled, Holden however made and small upset noise. "Gavin is a nice kid. He likes my dog, and interestingly enough, my dog's food. I don't think Holden likes him though."

"You have a dog?" Kainda asked, a bit surpised but grined. She, understably, loved dogs, actualy most animals earned her like. She always felt more comfortabe with animals. But when she tried working with them it didn't work that well. It wasn't like she had control over animals, just liked playing with them. "I love dogs."
Kainda giggled, it made sense to her that Gavin would like dog food, "He was an adventure type. Holden seems to me more of a studious type. Gavin proably leaves him in the dust." Something she noticed the boy proably didn't like, he was acting very clean, which was odd for a boy his age.
"So what's your dog like?" Kainda was certainly very interested in pets. She could never have one but...that be nice, maybe she could now, after she got Adair though.

"Yeah, his name is Hamlet," Tristan smiling brightly as he spoke of his dog. He loved animals, adored them really and Hamlet was the one he adored most, "He is a German Shepard, or at least mostly one. He is a mutt but he looks like a Shepard. He is a really good dog, a bit dumb but he is friendly and loves Holden."
Tristan was half babbling, and he could have kept going but he held back. He could get a little hyper when talking about animals, and defiantly a little odd. She was nice and he didn't want to scare her after all.
Holden followed behind the two adults a little slowly. He didn't want to go back yet, though the dirt on his hands was starting to get to him. He smiled at the mention of his puppy, because it was his puppy after all. Sure Hamlet and Tristan had been together before Holden, but puppy was so totally his.

"Like the play?" Kainda asked. She didn't know much about literature, to her English class was nap time but she wasn't completely dense. She knew of the Bard and some play names. Hamlet managed to slip it's way into her mind though she couldn't, for the life of her, know what it was about. She asumed, Hamlet, unless that was a place and not a name. Oh well, didn't really matter to her.
"That's cool though. I wonder if Adair will want a pet. I always wanted one growing up...but I should proably wait till he can take care of it. A kid can talk and remind me he's hungry but pets just do that whimpering thing that I tend to ignore." she gave Tristian an emabressed grin but kept on walking, "I'm not the most responsible girl in the world." she admited.
"Which is why this was really surpising to me, to be asked for this you know? What did you do before you came here?" Kainda asked him, tilting her head to the side.

"Yeah, like the play," Tristan replied a bit of a blush rising in his cheeks. He felt like a nerd, well more of one then usual. He knew he was a nerd but some times he felt he over did it. Naming his dog after the Bard's work was one of these times.
"Pets are great, good for kids too. I had like a million when I was a kid. I had Hamlet before Holden, got him just before I was asked to look after Holden."
He nodded very much in agreement to being surprised about being asked. He had been nothing special and for a while on a very bad path, he had no idea what he did to deserve.
He blushed once more when she asked him what he did. It was more embarrassing then being nerdy, it was the most embarrassing thing about him really. "I uh... I work at a uh... fast food place," he said, half mumbling and scratching the back of his head. God he hated his job. "What about you?" he asked, hoping to change the subject.

Fast food, okay that honestly threw the kitsune for a loop. She would have expected something like say teacher or scientest or one of those other jobs that you'd have to go to extra schooling to get, he just seemed a little bit...higher class than her, and her type of jobs. Still, she wasn't big on forcing herself into other people's work life, it wasn't like she had much to say on the topic.
"Oh I've job hopped my whole life you know? I can't ever seem to keep a job for more than a month. I interveiw well or as I call it, lie my a** off well but when I actually have to take orders...." she shrugged and blushed, "I suck at it. I also sucked at school so you know, nothing to help there. I'm not really good at anything, never found anything I truly excelled at. Just things I like but nothing I could turn into an actual carrer. I actually need a new job now, before the kid comes, you know?"
She felt a little embaressed herself but was always up front with her flaws, often more so than her virtues. She wasn't shy but she had a lot of flaws that just loved to smack her in the face, not that it really mattered, she just needed something to help her buckle down long enough to get somewhere in the world. Kainda believed that hard work was the only way to get somewhere the problem was that she just never could seem to do hard work.

Happy for the attention off of his overly embarrassing job, Tristan nodded. He understood. When he started at the fast food joint he had a hard time adjusting. He had worked in a lab where he was pretty much in charge for a couple of years. It was hard to go back to taking orders, but things were better now.
"I'm lucky, I work late nights, there is like three of us and I don't get bossed around much," he said with a smile, "And careers are over rated, but I can understand why you need a job. The free apartments here are a godsend, but food and stuff."

"I dunno...I'd like to know I wasn't going to be doing a job I hated for the next sixty years." Kiara admited, rubbing the back of her head. The major problem was that she did hate all her jobs, even jobs she tired to get in her interest and just wasn't sure how to find something that was.
"I envy those people who know what they want. My problem is that the only thing I've wanted in life, truly wanted, is my freedom, and now that I have it I have no real idea what to do with it. I geuss I'm trying to limit that freedom in hope I'll find something else I'll want, something I can do with my life, you know?" she asked him and shrugged, "Sorry, got depressing on you, that's not fun."

Tristan's smile faulted a little. He was one of the people who knew what he wanted. He wanted to work with animals and was qualified to do it. He just couldn't any more...
"Don't worry about it, I'm pretty use to depressing stuff," he said with a sheepish smile, he didn't really mean to say that, who knew what she could get out of it, but he didn't care all that much. "You'll find something, everyone does."
The three came to the edge of the forest again and Holden, tired of not having any attention paid to him went ahead of the adults, he knew the general direct from there.

"Maybe." Kainda shrugged, she learned she had to take things as they came. Once he decided on something though, hell and high water couldn't change her mind. Her parents figured that out, as they put her though one than the other when she was growing up. Her only regret for her childhood was that she didn't find a carrer before rebelling.
"But that's not what I need now, now I just need something that pays the bills. They hiring at your fast food place?" she asked, as her eyes turned to follow Holden running off a little ways ahead, he didn't seem to go too far at least. Knowing his limit he just ran a little ways ahead.

Tristan bit his lip as he thought. He couldn't remember if they were or not. "I don't now, we usually are, people don't stay around long. I can check it out for you if you'd like."
His eyes followed his son too. He was getting better at watching him. When Holden first showed up, he would forget. He was a terrible parent back then.

"Great, and I'll ask around, I'm sure there's someplace that I haven't been fired from, and my resume looks pretty good since almost no one actually calls old employers I have found out. Not for the jobs that I actually apply at." she admited. Sometimes she wondered if she should take some classes or something. She felt like she should find something that she could actually last, at least for a few months.
Kainda glanced at him and smiled to see he watching too. She was mostly just doing it because she was aware today, she didn't know if she would be like this all the time. Kainda really was unsure what type of parent she would be she just wanted to try.

At last Tristan had led them back to the garden where Holden waited for the adults. Tristan was pretty proud of himself really, he didn't know the grounds that well so finding it without getting lost once was special.
"Well... uh.. here we are," Tristan said, not sure what else to say or do.
