"Positive. Positives are a good thing." Finishing his drink, Safi smiled and looked over at Wadi, his eyes dancing with amusement. Even though Wadi was rationalizing on his own, he couldn't help but take some sort of pride from the whole thing, a realization that made him chuckle even more. What would Cerdi say were he to see Safi being so frivolous and silly?

Likely the same thing as always; 'you do as you think is best, Boss'. Reliable little creature, or syncophant; whichever.

However, Safi still felt that Wadi was being too negative; being realistic and being negative were the same thing as far as Safi was concerned. "So, we have a positive, that's good! Now just multiply that by a few more..." Can you say 'project'?

"Why would ah have ta multiply it?" He tilted his head slightly and frowned at the other. He wasn't sure he trusted that or what that could mean in regards to the conversation they'd' been having.

He could feel his mothers accent creeping up on him and hoped he didn't start spazing about something. Last thing he needed was to overreact to things when the other stallion probably already thought he was hopeless.

Hearing the accent, Safi turned around all the way and gave Wadi a grin. "Because if one positive is good, it stands to reason that multiple positives would be even better, woulnd't you say? Simple mathematical reasoning."

This is the part where his friends would be rolling their eyes at him, but it was difficult to say what a relative stranger would have to say. Or react, for that matter.

Still, he felt that a bit of explanation would be handy, before Wadi decided that perhaps this meeting was too much after all. "Call it a character trait; I'm always peppy like this, and I have a habit of trying to make those around me peppy as well. Besides, can you blame me? Your face is cute enough with a somber look, but it'd likely look even better with a grin. And don't lie; I saw you laugh at least once, so I know it's possible." This with a semi-serious wing shake, as though in reprimand.

"It's not as easy as that though." One of those easier said than done things. You could talk about improving yourself all you wanted but talk was cheap. He was harder to actually do something about it.

"I haven't been cute since i was little..." Stallions weren't cute, at least he didn't think they were suppose to be. Grandama Rogue said he was cute all the time when he was little but she hadn't said it much since he'd gotten bigger.

"Never know unless you try, though, and as for not being cute..." Tsking, Safi shoot his head at Wadi, unable to pass up the chance to pay a compliment when one was due. "That's a terrible lie, Wadi. You're an adorable stallion, and telling yourself otherwise is a disservice. It's just like with anything else; you have to accept as reality what you know to be true!"

How very profound...not. Oh well, that was why he WASN'T a public speaker. "And I'm not that biased, so don't go getting all accusatory on me." Chuckling, Safi gave Wadi a wink. It had been a while since he'd been around non-related Soquili, so it was hardly surprising his playful side was at the fore. And that aside, Wadi WAS cute, and he ought to know it!

"My sisters cuter ... so are my Uncles." He shook out his mane and grinned slightly at Safi. "I'm just regular looking and i'm okay with that."

It meant he didn't get attention from everyone and didn't have to worry about being in crowds when he had a fit. His family knew how to deal with it and he didn't have any close friends but he was sure if he did they'd know. He didn't need to worry strangers by trying to be social and screwing it up.

"Maybe, maybe not. I can't say I've knowingly met any of them, so I suppose I can't make any judgements about you versus them. I only know what I see." Returning the grin with a grin of his own, Safi felt a bit better, not to mention vindicated, at seeing Wadi smile. He DID have a very pleasant smile, whether or not he realized it; just the right balance for his glowy eyes without having OHNOSHINEYSCARYTEETH.

Regular looking...no one was 'regular looking', not truly; everyone was unique, and that made meeting new people so much fun! You got to see things completely novel!

"But whether or not YOU think you're regular looking, you might be surprised at how others might disagree!" Tossing back his own mane, Safi adjusted the sand colored feather tucked behind his ear before winking at Wadi. "Have a little pride!"

"I think ah'll leave bein prideful for others." He nodded slightly. "I'll stick with being modest ol me. 'Sides, i couldn't live up to having feathers like yers or somethin like that." Safi held himself better too so it made sense for him to leave things like that up to others.

"I'm sure you'll meet them eventually if you wander around here long enough. My family's along enough that they get around a lot i think."

Glancing sideways and back at his wings, Safi chuckled, a mental image of wings magically sprouting out of Wadi's shoulders providing a hefty bit of amusement. Not that things actually worked that way, of course, but what did that matter? It was still funny.

"Now now, who says you have to have feathers to be proud of yourself? Just because I'm an arrogant twit doesn't mean all of my feathered brethern are as bad. Some are quite pleasant, actually!"

Moving the wings back up to rest on the back of his head, Safi gave Wadi a chuckle. Wandering family, eh? "Well, it's something to look forward too, I suppose. I've always liked meeting new people!"

"Yes but birds preen so it would make sense for those of our kind with wings to be of the same ilk." He grinned and nodded. He may have been a spaz but at least he could try to be an intelligent spaz. "I'm sure there are plenty out there with enough pride ta make up for what i lack."

He turned toward the water and took the few steps down there to make sure there were no fish before taking a sip of the cold water.

An amusing thought. The winds had to preen just as birds did, pulling out loose feathers and whatnot, but Safi hadn't really thought of the similarity beyond that. Different minds, he supposed, for different ideas!

Standing beside the wate, Safi watched as Wadi lowered his head to take a drink, noting the way the water rippled as the braids hit the water. Wadi had long hair, comparitively...or maybe it was just the braids that made it seem that way.

"Either way, you're a cutie, Wadi. Don't ever let anyone tell you differently." Aside of Ladius and Yue, he'd never seen a thinly braided mane before; it was a totally different look on a stallion than on a mare. Did having braids make it heavier?

Almost without thinking about it, he gently reached out with one wing, touching one of the braids with the utmost of care. It was such a nifty thing...

He'd been perfectly content getting a drink and watching for any scaley things to try to touch him that he hadn't noticed Safi come closer or his wing. At least not until he felt his braids move and his head shot up.

"Oh .... sorry.." He'd bumped into the other stallions wing on the way up and he'd feel horrible if he'd hurt him. "I didn't hurt you did i?" He tilted his head down to try to look at the other's wing to see if he'd misplaced anything.

Though Wadi had moved faster that Safi would have expected, there still wasn't enough force behind him to do more than swat at the wing. Blinking a bit at the query, Safi glanced from Wadi to the ruffled feathers of his wing, then grinned, fanning the lead feathers wide for the other stallion to see.

"Fine as ever, just a bit ruffled. And no apologies necessary; it's no more than could be expected, what with having a random person poke your head. My apologies to YOU, I guess I got distracted by your braids and forgot my manners!"

"I could 'ave been payin more attention to where my head was goin." He looked at the braid that hung beside his eye as best he could. "Ya haven't' seen'em before?" It wouldn't have surprised him. The two leggers that the family lived near had put them in his hair and since the smaller of the two leggers was nice he let her keep them then when she wanted.

"Yeah, well..." Smiling ruefully, Safi followed Wadi's gaze back to the braid, shaking his head in response to the question. "One of my herdmates has braids, but she has a great deal more than you do, and they're shorter. I also know a stallion with ONE braid, but I've never seen your style before. It's rather...well, different, I suppose."

Glancing at Wadi to see if he was paying attention and wouldn't be surprised, Safi once again extended the wingtip to gently stroke the braid. "But in an interesting way."
