Qadir's hand tightened lightly around Crystal's own as she gripped it, silently trying to provide comfort to the dark-haired woman at his side. The man next to them was, amazingly enough, the embodiment of most everything Qadir disliked in humanity. Where was the fun in treating people less than you worse than you? Was Irene really under the impression that treating others like he did, especially treating Crystal as he was, would get him anywhere in life? Was Irene really happy sitting in that stuff house of his staring at other people that possessed the personality of a pea?

It wasn't Qadir's business however to dwell on these things at the moment unless it did become a problem for the woman beside him. The tighter her hand became the thinner Qadir's lips became as they pursed together, eyes narrowing as much as he dared without letting his expression look too terribly sour. Unfortunatly for Qadir, the poison in his veins made him more irritable than he would normally be. "I am sure miss Crystal wanted nothing more than to spend a bit of time with you, but we're both terribly sorry that such a triffling thing has turned into such a terrible thing for you to be suffering through."

Slippping his hand out of Crystal's, he lifted his arm to drape it lightly around her shoulders, turning his head and kissing her lightly upon the temple before smiling at her. "You know you could never waste my time my dear, so please don't worry yourself over something so silly." If he could have, Qadir would have wrapped both arms about the woman, but as it were that black sling did nothing more than hinder him, hugging his broken arm to his body. It was growing itchy and hot and was beginning to irritate the man. Taking a deep breath, Qadir tried to steady himself, his smile widdening as he let out the breath slowly.

Irene didn't like Qadir. Or rather, he didn't like the way the two held hands together. It was a puzzling bitterness that kept testing his endurace before really releasing this anger on no on in particular. It appeared that Crystal had somewhat misunderstood him. However, as he thought into it, perhaps she didn't understand him in the beginning. And more so to his surprise, perhaps it wasn't her fault, as he didn't even understand himself. He still was not sure if he had made any progress on trying to make himself clear that it was not Crystal that he wished not to see, but Crystal with another person, which, he thought, was immensely selfish of him.

"I am truely honored." Irene replied rather absent-mindedly. "That my lady had been thinking of me..." And why was she with another man when she thought of Irene? The young man thought it was the best not to push the situation further. Her words afterall, perhaps, were merely of politeness.

Walking a few steps backwards, Irene got a grip on his horse, who had now settled down. With a swift motion he brought himself onto its back and made sure to secure his seat. Once on horseback, he gave Qadir a slight nod and looked at Crystal. There Irene hesitated. There were so many words he wanted to say, yet, it didn't seem like the situation to say them at all...

"Good day, lord Xi and Lady Crystal. It was a pleasure of meeting the two of you."

Irene could feel his throat knotting itself at the end of his brief farewell. He decided to not say anything further. Turning, and with a firm squeze at the horse's sides, he darted off in the direction of where he was supposed to go, leaving the common marketplace behind.

He was going to be late, but he'd make it.

The woman leaned into Qadir's comforting touch, nodding distantly as Irene said his far too formal farewells. Perhaps she, too, felt she was misunderstood, or that Irene had never cared to try. She would have thought from the time they had shared and the events they had been through, from the Masquerade to the mad dash from Mansion Jewell, that they would have at least considered themselves friends. His staunch refusal of speaking to her by her name only made it more clear to her that she was just an acquaintance, and a lowly one at that.

Crystal shook her head a little, offering Almach her hand as a perch with all the jostling between the two men. Now wasn't the time to feel bad for herself, opting to turn her gaze to Qadir and bask in his smile. "It's just you and me now. And Almach," she ammended, still quite enthralled with the bat. "I hope that's all right. Shall we continue the night, you and I?"

At least, with Qadir, she felt she could be herself, and that was good enough for him. Perhaps Crystal wasn't always so polite, perhaps her sweetness was less sugar coated by her concerns, and perhaps she would rather dance barefoot beneath the stars than in expensive gowns in a gaudy mansion, but it was who she was; even now, she was just coming to terms with such things.

She was happy to be in the circle of the vampire's arm, and even so, she couldn't help but wonder if it was the last time she'd ever see Irene.
