Anuella Theallpowerfull ClaudiaJade whee heart is there a reason humans have 4fingers instead of 3 or 5? Each finger has a use. The opposable thumb is obvious and the middle finger is used in conjunction with that to grip things. The index finger (closest to the thumb) is used for more dexterity testing skills. If you'd take a moment you'd notice that it's easier to point, poke and prod with. The pinky finger is for balance. It makes it easier to grip something with your entire hand by being the solid bit that holds the weight at the bottom. The ring finger is like a backup for your pinky. It helps to hold more weight. It's like the muscley guy that can't move easily of your hand. I suppose we could only have three fingers but it would make life a little more difficult. So why not five? domokun At the moment we don't need it. It'ss called natural selection. Some people have been born with a fifth finger but it hasn't caught on because of the lack of necessity. In fact King Henry VIII had a wife of whom he executed on charges of witchcraft because she had an extra finger. Of course that was just an excuse. Her name was Anne Boleyn. She was actually killed because she had a daughter named Elizabeth but failed to have a male child before Henry's interests led him to another woman. This is off topic though. My point is that the only reason we don't have another finger is because we don't need it. Those who did have it were weeded out through the belief of witchcraft. There is a possibility that in the future there will be many with this 'defect'. If it's more useful than what we have now than nature will see to it that those who survive are those who have the right equipment. However, we kind of cheat nowadays. sweatdrop

I'd like to add to that "why is the sky blue" question.
Truthfully what I said was the opposite. The water is actually blue because the sky is. The sky is really blue because of how the sunlight hits the particles in the air that make up our ozone layer. 3nodding
I just felt like taking the easy way out because I couldn't think of how to explain this easily. I was tired. >.<

They are one the same tendon. This introduces the possibility of it only being recently that we evolved the fourth finger. The ninja turtles had a sudden spurt of evolution and they didn't quite make it as far as us. 3nodding They had other abilities though. Like Donatello's intelligence and their overall kick butt powers. whee

Okay, you might have to think about this one.... whee
If a rooster layed an egg at the very top of a pointy hill, in the very middle of the top, which way would the egg roll? This is in terms of, the egg can roll any way, as it was layed at the very top, and gravity would pull it down in some direction, but which?
Think about my question, go over it thouroughly.

Shine On Peace Rubi Ah, so, assuming that there's an end to the universe and that there's only one universe I would still say that there is an infinite number of stars. The number of stars is constantly changing so I can't exactly give you one number and the space between two numbers is infinity. 3nodding

Scepter Ponderage! This has been bugging me for awhile, but... How do birds have sex? xp Seeing as how birds are not mammals, most tend to not have sex... When a male and female bird fall in love and they want to share that intense love with each other, one of them lays an egg and the other comes along and (I don't want to get too graphic in this) fertilizes the eggs. The female then spends her time incubating the eggs until hatching time. That's right folks, all the goodness of childbearing except you go through labour before the fetus is even a fetus and you don't have to have sex!! 4laugh
