"True. We're more evenly matched with other lions. Prey are sort of dumb in their ways..." She broke off her sentance to yawn, then rested her head on her paws. Mmm. Still warm even in the shade. Pleasant. But yes! She was getting sidetracked. Prey didn't have claws like theirs and ran rather than fought. Other lions had the same sorts of drives, skills and intelligence. More interesting in their ways. Though, pride made her hastily add -
"Not that any rogue is really a match for us. They're not blessed and are puny. Bet even a slave could take a wild rogue on, only we'd rather do it ourselves."

"Exactly." He agreed. Gods, but it was hot, even in the shade! Kienge stretched out, eyes partly closed as he lay on the cooler sands beneath the tree.
"Eh." He gave a noncommittal grunt. "I don't know. MY slaves aren't exactly amazing, though they're probably better fed than those mangy trespassers." After all, even the strongest Firekin needed good meals to keep up his (or her) strength!
"I know one thing though - I can't wait till I'm old enough to fight out on the borders."
Old enough to prove myself!

"I can't wait to grow up either." Her own eyes closed fully, for Ilahle falling prey to the warmth and her comfortable position. The heat sapped energy and she had spent a long while practising hunting, and then there was her scuffle with Kienge...
"All the best things happen when you're a grown up. You're stronger and bigger, you hunt and fight, and stuff..."
(Shall we end this soon, Ron? =) Have them doze off or something?)

"Yeah. It'll be great..."
Kienge couldn't seem to find the strength to finish off his thoughts. The warm air coupled with the cool sand was lulling him to sleep, and he really couldn't think of a reason to fight it off. It was so quiet out here - each breath was like a roar of wind, each heartbeat the pounding of heavy paws on the sand...
... he closed his eyes, slipping into a near-dream state...
He wasn't in danger here. Ilahle wasn't gonna attack him, right? She was a firekin like him. Satisfied with his logic, the cub drifted off to sleep.
