Takuya Kanbara There's a part in the "Danse Bacchanale" that sounds like belly-dancing music, and at our spring concert, the entire second row(who weren't playing at the time) stood up and started belly dancing. It was hilarious, but man, did we get an earful from our BD the next school day... rofl Yesterday, I was playing through the Mr. Rodgers song again, and I had another thought of a Rodgers/Hitler Bitatorship (Two dictators, if that's possible.) and they ruled the world with beavers imported from Canada. whee

GAH! That's way too scary to think about!
What really disturbed my old BD (getting a new one this year cause she couldn't handle the pressure..jk...she moved to Cali..) But in my freshman year, we did this weird little John Williams march medly (sp?) and it had the Imperial March, so the all of the brass (I mean all) mermorized it, then one day she had to go to the phone in her office (which is in the little hallway connected to the band room) and all of us took the liberty of standing in two lines facing each other, and started playing it when she walked back into the bandroom...she was pissed.
But one of the funniest things I've thought of during a song was our senior drum major (from last year who was also a Trombone player) going crazy with a blow up thinger-ma-jig that they sell at football games, and hitting me over the head a million times while playing our last Alma Mater for the football season. He is a very up-tight, and doesn't like to do anything crazy. Sad thing is...it happened...during the the last Alma Mater of the football season. He gave the excuse that he had to be a pain in my butt one last time...being as I'm the only girl in the section...and the youngest one..

Takuya Kanbara Our BD was conducting, I thought I heard the bell, and started to put my instrument away, then he started yelling at me, then one of my friends hit me and I woke up(during band). Anyway, point of the story is that we were playing Pomp And Circumstance, and I was picturing myself with a loaded sniper picking off seniors to speed up the process. Needless to say, I can't play that song with a straight face anymore. rofl

Russ B I was playing "Won't You Be My Neighbor" by Mr. Rodgers for Summer Jazz Band last night, and I was thinking that it would be cool if someone tied marionette strings to Mr. Rodger's body and made his do a tap dance through this one part that has no rhythm section in it. Then at the end he would cross his arms, all ghetto style, and say "Word to your mother, b***h." I couldn't stop laughing for 10-15 minutes, and everyone was staring at me as I was crying and laughing on the floor. xd

The funniest things that come to me when playing a song is usually what kind o quote can be played over it. Pretty much i'm focused on the time/feel key signature and runs. If it's a jazz pice i'm usually thingking about what type of solo i can do over the changes or what sequence of changes are being played.

Russ B LadyEcko Band can do that to you..... I've hilosinate(sp) in band before..... (Halucination, but close enough.) I thought I was gonna pass out from laughing so hard. xd lol that's great! i love it when band does that to ya.........makes my boring life seem alright
