Sabriel must be older than Thylassa. Not only was he able to talk (a little) but he definately had a better grip, Gullien decided, wobbling her leg to seat him. He had all of his claws sunk into her pants, but not her leg, which surprised her a little. He must have better control over those things than she thought. "Okay, everyone ready?"
Shuffle-step for Thylassa so she didn't fall off, normal step for Sabriel who was a stronger holder and wouldn't fall off, tail puffed out so she didn't fall over. She resisted the temptation to add a little kick at the end. While Sabriel would probably hold on and enjoy it, there was a slight chance she'd lob Chin's boy across the library like a football. Then mapness would never occur. "So... where do we start? Y'know... we could probably just grab a blank piece of paper out of any of the books. You know how they put those extra pages on the last page?"

Thylassa giggled as the leg moved. She loved this! She didn't even care that jerkjerk was on the other leg. It was just a shame there wasn't a third leg for Chinchille to ride. There was the tail... maybe that would work? "Mwaaa!" she told Chinchille. Tail! Rides for all!

Chin wished she had a camera. Giving Thylassa a quick wave (like most older people, she completely misinterpreted what the baby meant) she looked around the library, and soon had to admit there wasn't any loose paper about. "I guess you're right. Are dictionaries like that too? They've got bigger paper." There had to be a reference shelf here...somewhere.

As the ride began, Sabriel clung a little tighter, teetering before finding his own balance. He looked positively joyful - this was FUN! Thylassa had such a cool mom! She didn't deserve it one bit, either.

"I think pretty much all the fancy expensives ones are like that. It's like rich people who wear huge pants. You get extra blank pages just cause you can afford to. So what in here looks old and valuable?" Gullien teetered across the floor in search of anything in a glass case. Things in glasses cases were expensive.

Thylassa grinned, scooting up on Gullien's leg a little. There was on thing she knew about that her furry friend clearly didn't. It came from having a huggy mom with a big furry tail.
That thing was static electricity.

She'd always thought rich people were more into small pants, but Gullien seemed more learned on the subject than she. Old and valuable. Hm. Chin winced at the thought of Jabir or Maggie finding out they'd been defacing books, in the brand new library at that, but they needed a map! They could always pay them back. Well, as long as the books weren't a million gold each, that was.

Before she could find any more reason not to do it, she began examining the rows closest to her, not seeing anything really old and valuable. Maybe they kept that stuff towards the back. Trying to edge past Gullien without looking like she was leaving her behind, Chin set off that way.

"Hey, they have some really neat stuff back here!"

Sabriel, happily unaware of anything called 'static electricity', tried standing by pulling himself up. The fact he nearly swung off only added to the experience. He thought he heard a tiny rip from under his claws, but didn't think it sounded too serious. Unless she went all crazy and attacked him like Chin had...he looked up at Gullien, a little nervous about that.

"Oh dear... where am I now, I wonder..." Gray mused to herself, sounding entirely too cheerful for someone who had been wandering aimlessly for a good half an hour. It wouldn't have been so bad, really, had she not been carrying a sobbing, wailing, thrashing baby for half of those thirty minutes, and was thus talking to herself over the deafening sounds of an unhappy Odnako. The fact that the HQ was built like a nautilus shell didn't help much; the sound kept echoing down nearby corridors, and Gray had a feeling she'd woken everyone in the building up by now.

But here, there were books in this room, so she was not so lost as before. Maybe their room was close to the library. Or... maybe not. She really had no idea.

"You're supposed to be quiet in libraries, dear," the woman muttered to her charge, tapping the baby's nose, and nearly getting a kick in the eye for it. But wait! She heard voices!

Rounding the corner, Gray stopped short, looking politely baffled at the sight of Gullien, Chin, and both of their babies wrapped around either of Gullien's legs. Odnako, in her surprise at the sight, fell instantly and entirely silent. Somehow, they didn't look sane enough to know their way around, either.

"Er. Hullo," Gray settled on saying after a moment's awkwardness, trying to wave, but both hands were full, so she ended up sort of wiggling the baby at them by way of greeting. At least Odnako wasn't crying any more, although the sounds of a snuffling, nasally congested baby were not much more pleasant than that of a crying one.

Gullien grinned down at Sabriel as he stood up on her leg, looking like he was having the time of his life. Wait... was that a ripping noise? Before she respond to the threat to her pants, the faint sound of wailing reached her ears. What the heck?

The question was answered abruptly as a woman with purple hair and a monocle entered, carrying a wailing baby deer that shut up abruptly as it saw them. The kid must be a mishap. Deer didn't usually have hair and diapers on. The kid was cute, despite the snot. The woman though... something about her was off and Gullien had to keep her tail from bushing. Something odd...
But she had no idea what and it would be too conspicious just standing there staring at her. "Hey." She responded simply, completely unselfconcious about the babies hanging from her shins. Best to wait and see if Chin knew her and wanted to make introductions.

Thylassa beamed at the newcomer's entrance. New people! A big person and a her-size person. Who was rather snotty and sniffy but... anything was probably better than Sabriel. "Baa!"

Unfortunately, the woman was just as much a stranger to her as to Gulli, as she found upon turning around. Chin went slightly pink at Gray's expression.

"Um. Hi, there." she said, lifting a hand to wave back. At least she assumed the baby-wiggling was a wave. The child in question made her do a double-take, but if it wasn't for Sabriel's similarity to a cat, Chin might've thought it actually was a deer in diapers. Weirder things could happen.

Clearing her throat, she finally added, "D'you wanna help us make a map?"

Odnako's shrieks caused Sabriel to wince uncomfortably, his ears almost flat against his head. Ow! He was thankful for the silence that followed, cautiously unhitching his claws and peering up at the new people.

A sudden squeal made him jump, but it was only Thylassa. "Baaa!" he imitated her not-so-nicely. He wanted the new baby on his side.

Gray relaxed a bit, her grin a genuine one. So they were lost, too! And they had freakish babies. Not that she had anything against freakish babies, she was even a little fond of her own, but it was going to take some getting used to.

Completely oblivious to any strange vibes she might be giving off, the woman nodded, stepping a little closer. She wasn't sure how eloquent the greetings had been, but she was sure they sufficed. "I'm afraid I won't be much help at making a map, I've only just stopped being lost, and I'm still not really sure where I am."

She looked momentarily puzzled, but shrugged it off, instead watching the interaction of the three little ones. The deer child stared intently at Thylassa and Sabriel, but quickly hid her eyes in Gray's sleeve at the "Baaas!". Gray grimaced, fished a tissue out of her pocket, and swabbed at Odnako's nose until she was no longer drooling on her elbow and again eyeing the other youngsters. Odnako didn't act particularly shy... just a little aloof as she appraised the others.

"But I can still try and help, I guess," Gray finished a bit lamely, again putting on a smile. "Oh, and I'm Gray. And this is Odnako. And I think I'm rambling again, aren't I..." she trailed off, looking thoughtful.

Gullien crouched down, a kid still attached to either leg and wrapped her tail around Thylassa. "I'm Gullien and this is Thylassa." She introduced, eyeing Odnako in return. Another animal kid. Unfair. How come hers was humanoid? Not that she'd exchange Thylassa or anything. All of the furniture matched her and the nim were used to her. Still...
She didn't get a threatening sense from Gray, just... bestial. And very very faint. Maybe she had a spirit guide? She hoped not. She hated spirit guides. Perhaps a very diluted anthro offspring. She'd meet them once or twice around Gaia.
"If you're lost, you'll probably want a map too. We'll need to find three pieces of paper, then." Gullien glanced to Chin. "So... that would be two books? Since they usually have two blank pages each. Know anyone else that needs a map?"

Thylassa would have had a pointed (or thrown) response to Sabriel if Gullien's tail hadn't suddenly wrapped around her, almost completely obscuring her view of the newcomers. She pushed it down happily. Puffy, puffy, fluffy. Like a giant stuffed animal!

"Nice to meet you." Chin was completely unaware of any strangeness going on in the background; she smiled cheerfully at Gray, relaxing. She seemed very nice, if a bit touched in the head. "The fuzzball's name is Sabriel, and mine's Chinchillie. Or Chin. Chin's fine."

She tried to think of anyone else who would really need a map, and came up nada. Deimos, Jizzy, Crow, and Lenore were better acquainted with the former HQ, so they'd probably know at least a little of the new one.

"Nope, nobody. Two books should be okay, unless you two know anyone..."

A floofy tail had eaten Thylassa! Sabriel, alarmed, latched straight back on. Was it going to eat him next? "Stupit??" The poor girl. Not only was she swallowed up by a ginormous floof, but she'd been nicknamed as well!

Oh, how interesting. This one had a tail. Gray peered at Gullien's fuzzy appendage, her eye blinking owlishly behind the monocle. Quirking her head to one side, she offered another big smile at Gullien. One of Raccoon's children? He must have been very busy here... she had already seen several such coon-tailed people since her arrival on Gaia.

"Oh, but you haven't his eyes," she said, randomly, before quickly turning to set her baby on the floor. "Probably a good thing too, he was always a bit leery, never could keep his eyes to himself. But that's another story entirely. I'm afraid the only two people I know who need maps are in the process of making them."

Now, if only she would remember their names... was it Chin and Sabriel, or Chabriel and Sin? Oh well, no matter, she was sure she would remember eventually.

Odnako looked mildly surprised by all of this, but decided to make the best of it and use her new vantage point to get a better look at the children. Crawling forward--she was already very good at walking on all fours, although her front half had a little trouble keeping up with her back half--she peered over Gullien's tail at Thylassa and Sabriel. After a moment's deliberation, she pawed cautiously at the fluffy raccoon tail, not entirely sure that it wasn't also a baby in disguise.

Gullien raised an eyebrow at Gray's non sequitur about eyes but decided not to comment. Definately some anthro's great grandchild. Sometimes the blood didn't mix too well. Shame, that. "Well, that's all right then. I guess two books it is."
Shrugging, she turned her attention to the three children gathered around her legs. Stupit? "Sabriel." She growled slightly, "I suggest you drop that unless you want me to give you a nickname back." Thylassa could defend herself physically, but name-calling was just... well, stupid. And useless and annoying.
Turning her attention the the new little deer-child, she watched amused as it pawed at her tail. Relaxing it slowly least she knock Odnako or Thylassa over, she let her tail rest on the ground again, tail tip twitching.

Thylassa shot Sabriel a glare as Gullien's tail dropped from in front of her face. Stupit!? Dumb fuzzhead spiderbutt. Catching his expression, she grinned slightly. Someone was afraid of a TAIL. She would have gloated more, but as Gullien's tail dropped, the new baby was reveled. Cooool.
A dragon! Maybe. Or maybe a horsie dragon...
Whatever it was, it was cool. Way way more cool than Sabriel. Reaching out a cubby hand, Thylassa attempting to gently touch one of Odnako's horns.

Seeing her grin, Sabriel shot back at Thylassa a look meant to kill. It didn't work. Sulkily he did as he was told and dropped the nickname, deciding to ignore her from now on so he wouldn't have to call her anything.

Odnako was kinda neat, and she had a tail, which was definitely a plus. He hoped she wasn't a stupid too.

Blinking at the very odd comments Gray was making, Chin left them to it and went to search the closest shelves. She pulled out a couple of books at random to try. "Hey, do we mind using...um...wow. Looks like it's been signed...oh well." The pages tore easily, and she put them up somewhere safe before going to find another.

"Sabriel, be nice." she paused to call back at the three, happy Gullien was doing such a good job at taking charge of them.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 29, 2005 3:48 pm

"I'm sure it was no one important. People who spend all their time signing books probably haven't got time for much else," she offered, leaning against the nearest bookcase. Luckily, it was full of heavy, albeit boring books, so it didn't tip over from the extra weight.

"And don't you bite, either." She directed her gaze at Odnako, although after thinking a moment she added, "...or kick." Being gummed to death couldn't be any better than getting a nice sharp hoof in the eye.

Odnako was so fascinated by the twitching tail that she didn't even notice Thylassa reaching for her antler stub. Even when she did notice, she wasn't sure just what to do. What was this weird thing doing? It was clammy and smelled funny and made weird noises and here it was poking at her. Odnako chuffed and lowered her head, using her fuzzy head of hair to butt Thylassa in the arm, not very hard at all.

Assuming that would be enough of a deterrent, Odnako shuffled around her and the bushy fuzzy striped baby--that was, in fact, Gullien's tail--so she could sit between Gullien's feet and see both babies at once. "Buh," she said by way of greeting, not quite managing a "Baa" sound.

Amused, Gullien moved her tail completely out of the way, draping it behind her. She lent an ear to Chin and Gray's banter about the books, but most of her attention was talken up with the three children gathered around her legs. Any minute now, Sabriel was going to go for a vital point and get hoofed, she just knew it. The deer kid was interesting too. Wobbly little deer body and a human face. Just like a oni from legend, although oni usually didn't snot. He was going to have an interesting time with doorknobs later on.

Thylassa giggled as the dragon-horsie baby nuzzled her arm, before stepping over Gullien's tail. She was a little disappointed as the tail retreated, but the little dragon sitting next to her made up for it. Putting a hand in her mouth, she studied the new baby and waited for Sabriel to do something really stupid.
