I despise when people are like;
"Hay ur an atheist u dn't beleeve in GOD!"
No. ******** no. I don't believe in any deities at all. I'm not singling out any one. That would be stupid. D=

Quite the non-sequitar.
In any case, I think the english language doesn't have a sufficient word to describe our (non)religious beliefs. Technically everything is a choice. We choose to hold the evidence on one side of an argument higher than the evidence of the other. Everything, no matter what it is, has an element of personal choice, or, more specifically, perspective. Although we didn't choose in the sense of the word that we just thought abut it for a moment and flipped a coin.
We did choose to believe or not believe, it was just a choice made for us, by us. We have no say in the matter, but, rather, the structure of our mind determines how we pick apart and view the evidence. So, in the end, we do choose, but it's not a choice that we can change, or take back.

Soy un hombre muy honrado, que me gusta lo mejor "Everything is a choice"?
Reminds me of a film I saw a few months ago which made me sick to my stomach. Some guy said something similar (people choose when they're born and who their parents are), to which the obviously reply, of course, is "OK guys, I'm gonna be born as a Jew during the Spanish Inquisition in Spain because that sounds like fun!"
Not everything is a choice. Las mujeres no me faltan, ni el dinero ni el amor

Regarding theism, I don't believe it's a choice. I wasn't born believing in Buddha, nor with a knowledge of AIDS or C++ programming.
Beliefs, like knowledge, are acquired. One can only hope that a functional set of knowledge and experience coalesces into a rational set of beliefs about the world (i.e. I believe the light will come on when I turn the switch).

I never thought about that until now. And you're right. It's not a choice.

Thanks a lot for the support. Maybe I'll manage to say it somewhere it'll change minds.
But I'll always have a crowd of geeks cheering me, and that means so much.
And yes, PO88, I get it. biggrin
