DevonyEvony It drives me crazy when people call myself or other avid readers "nerds" for loving books. It's even worse when the people who say it haven't the slightest idea who Jane Austin is. Has this ever happened to you? My story: My own friend said to me during lunch while I was reading Haveli"Devon, you're such a little nerd, but we love you anyways." I just sort of... looked at her. "Um, ok...." "What, you're always reading. I'm surprised you find the time to breathe." ...No offence but your friends are clueless. It doesn't matter what people think anyway, if your in school and some jerk is wailing on you for reading, let's say you get $5 per A on your report card... They get $50, you get a $5 bonus for all A's and you have 7 classes that aren't study hall. You end up with with a total of $40 dollars, and more money than them. crystal_raye, you snd me must be similar, because every post of your I've seen I've totally agreed with. NERDS RULE!!!

Oh, and I'm not a nerd. I'm not cool, popular, but not cool. (Popular REALY means how many people know you, of course.) Alot of people know me, and I couldn't care less that only few like me.
(Read ALL of this next part before making a judgement.)
To say we're all better than the D.A.R.N.E.D. or, Dumb Annoying Rich Numbskulls Enforcing Dwiddiling, I'm proud to say I've never seen anybody else in summer school... Because I've never been to summer school.

I have a pathetic one...I've actually been picked on and pushed around for reading! IN sixth grade I started at this performing arts school and I got to school early every morning so I would sit outside and read. People punched me, rat-tailed me, picked on me...etc. for being a book worm!

i've never been call a nerd, but everyone is always telling "Wow!, you really like to read, you always have a different book with you." I think is weird people don't read that much, they don't know what they are missing! cry

I've always loved to read. I've started a story and told my daughter about what the storyline is. The first thing I know she's pick up my book and started reading it. I don't consider myself or her a nerd

Well, for me, I don't really care what people say, I enjoy reading. Mot people don't know what they're missing from not reading books. But, it's kinda ironic. If reading implicates that people are nerds, wouldn't that make everyone out there a nerd? After all, people have to read labels, covers, and lots of other things. In reality, people fail to realize how important reading is for...well, to survive. You don't want accidentally pick up the wrong medicine or some food your allergic too. So, that's how I look at it. I don't let others define me, I define myself. 3nodding
