Jae Sung DarklingGlory What are the bits on the end for? ..... Opening an over-sized can? I'm serious, it kinda looks like a can opener! Don't get me wrong though, that just means they can rip you a new one and kill you at the same time. Meaningless frippery then? Stick all sorts of spicky bollocks on it to sell it to the fantasy kiddies...

DarklingGlory Woglinde Jae Sung Wul-do. A polearm like a guandao or pudao. I like it, cause its easy for me to use. Otherwise i'm pretty good with knife fighting.... ... but every time i throw them, the handle hits first, no matter what i do. And my knives are very well balanced. Simple, since the knife usually goes end over end as it flies through the air, just stand another 6-12 inches away, and/or hold it the opposite way you do normally. See how that works. smile @ darkphoenix1247: Don't forget that most moves in kali can translate to a knife or empty hand wink Also, Anyone heard of the Kampilan? Very interesting weapon. Sorry it's so huge sweatdrop What are the bits on the end for? It was widely used in the pre-conquest Philippine Archipelago and still in use by many Filipino Muslims today. As for the metal prongs, I've heard those are originally there for beheadings, the bits on the end are used like a "fork" to poke into the severed head and pick it up off the ground, much like a janitor uses a stick to pick up cans off the floor. pirate The weapon is a very poor with stabbing though, due to the forked end. Some kampilans are said to have the durability to match the Japanese katana.

Though weapons like the chain whip and three-sectioned staff are cool, I consider them as some of the hardest weapons to handle. Mainly because they're so much more flexible then most other weapons. Not really my personal favorites... but I do have a pair of nunchucks.

Martial J KaseyBaby I've just starting learning sai and I love them. I've been learning how to use the bo for a couple of years now and after learning sai for only a few days, I prefer it. Really? I'd be very uncomfortable with so little weapon as asai are. Please, tell us more. Why do you feel so comfortable with them? I don't really know, they feel more natural then the bo. I'm picking up the basic exercises so easily and even my instructor is surprised at how quickly I'm getting the hang of it. Only thing I can think of, I used to play raquetball and some of the wrist and finger movements are a bit similar for when I used to muck around by spinning and juggling the raquet, also the weapon is around the same length and weight.

Well, I'll put an "other" on the poll but so many votes have been cast. Oh well. Flexible weapons aren't quite as dependable though, especially those like the three section staff, because when they hit, they bounce off in different ways. We can probably sit here all day naming all the the different weapon types I neglected though.

Martial J machineman9v1 the katana... of course. why? i love the look of them, they are elegant and often very powerful. the picture below is of a katana i am saving up for, i think it looks really nice and the katana is a great weapon to train with i hate that 1 handed version of the katana... its a wakizashi or something isnt it? i hate those... they are like the midget version and i hate one handed weapons -SMEXY KATANA GOES HERE- Don't write that katana off, when used with a full length katana it's devastating. Surely you've heard of some guy named...Miyamoto Musashi? i havent, and i wasnt writing the katana off, i just really love them!

If you've ever tried to use a katana inside you'll see why

Or, ditch both and wreak havoc with an Odachi! Yes, the Odachi is like the H3 of katana family. I've heard of a sword even larger than the odachi called a "yotozuna" and tha they're very scarce now; in fact the word is only used as a name for some sumo wrestlers. I'm not fully beleiving it, but if anyone has some info on a bigger blade than the odachi, let's hear about it! Also, speaking of katana, I forgot the Japanese term for a double sided sword. I think I'd like a double sided Odachi someday...

*Sigh* Machineman, you've just gotten three different people telling you why the wakazashi is essential to Nipponto styles. However, you should keep your mind open to the wakazashi, and not make judgements about it because you don't like the way it looks, or it's size is this or that. Don't take my word for it, take the word of the countless bushi who have used the wakazashi before you even becoming a twinkle in your dad's eye.
Moving right along though, has anyone heard of kogarasumaru katana? It's a style of katana that has an edge on the inside and outside of the curve. I found it in a book on Kenjutsu, and it sounds cool to me.

Soul Fighters Leg Kicks Weapons are for losers who can't fight You know I always thought they were for killing people, but I guess I could be wrong XD. And just because you can use a weapon doesnt mean you dont know how to use physical arts as well.

Calamity-Rato Soul Fighters Leg Kicks Weapons are for losers who can't fight You know I always thought they were for killing people, but I guess I could be wrong XD. And just because you can use a weapon doesnt mean you dont know how to use physical arts as well. They were but now their primary function is to look cool on the walls of white kids everywhere who have a hard on for everything Asian. They're also a good way for schools to scam students into buying pointless equipment that they'll use maybe once every month or so. Show of hands, how many people own weapons but don't actually train in a legitimate school that teaches a weapon style. My guess is half the people if not at least a quarter of the people here.
