"Good." Ivan sighed with relief. The damsels wouldn't be staying and he could see Raisa soon, and apologize, but that would come later. Pawing open the box nearest him, he found- an empty box. "Well, that was exciting." He grumbled, shoving it into the pile of opened boxes.

"Then I'm glad you're happy little brother." The young knight turned away and took a deep breath before he began his chore. Atreyu had begun to dust the room with his tail quickly, cover his maw with his paw as he worked the room. Satisfied with the work he had completed, he emptied the box with the streamers, the pillows, costumes, and the frisbees and shoved the empty boxes near the door. Sitting down slowly, he let out a sigh of relief and glanced over at Ivan. "Thanks for helping me get things together."

Giggling happily at being called "little brother," Ivan shoved the last box over, revealing a stash of bone shaped treats. "You're welcome. Oh! Oh! Look!" He peeked sneakily back at Atreyu. "I think we deserve a quick treat for cleaning the room, don't you?"

Atreyu had slipped out of the room for only a brief second it seemed like but he lifted his head and smiled at Ivan as he knocked over the box to reveal the treats. Wagging his tail, he nodded happily and took a few steps forward.
"Of course. I think my stomach has been growling this whole time. I'm surprised you didn't hear it." He laughed and gestured with his paw. "You found our snack, you can eat first Sir Ivan."

"Oh. I had been hoping that I was hearing a dragon." He pouted, working hard to look disappointed. It couldn't last as he went about searching for the right treat. Finding it, Ivan marched to the side with a satisfied look and crunched on the suprise treat. "How long until the others- I mean, our brothers get here?" Ears twitching, letting it sink in that he would soon have many brothers.

Once Ivan had grabbed his treat, Atreyu snatched the one he had been eyeing at once and swallowed it in a quick gulp. Sitting down in front of the pile, Atreyu tilted his head as he thought over the question.
"I'm not quite sure...I haven't knighted Kai yet but he's off on his own adventures, Rudolf is off with his human on a trip I suppose, and well, no one else has come to me asking me to be a knight so I'm not exactly sure..."
Atreyu twitched his tail and looked down. "But soon...soon everyone else will get here and we can have a little fun."
"Fun?" Dagger poked his head into the room and looked around. "Yu-yu, is this where you've been hiding?" Atreyu turned at once to the door and growled, running over and shoving Daggers head out and closing the door. He stood shoved a pile of empty boxes in front of the door and sighed, shaking his head.
"That is one monster, we are not prepared to battle.." Atreyu said with a laugh as he turned back towards Ivan.

"They will come," Ivan said confidently. "you'll see." Finishing the treat, Ivan went to clean up the rest when a gray adult popped in. Watching the scene with an amused smile, he fell over laughing. "Yu-yu? He called you Yu-yu." Shaking his head, he sniffed at the door to find the gray's scent. "Who was he?"

"Yeah, you're right...we'll just have to be patient." Atreyu said, wincing as he was called Yu-yu again. Shaking his head, Atreyu let out a groan and flopped over on his side. "That was some new moonlit that my human adopted whose...developed a little something for me."

"Developed something for you?" He looked at the door and back at Atreyu. "You mean he wants to be your brother too? What's wrong with that?" Leaping over, Ivan lay down next to his stressed out friend. "I like being your brother, I'm sure he would too!" Ivan pronounced, trying to cheer him up.

"Um...how do I explain this..." Atreyu paused, thinking it over carefully. "He doesn't want to be my brother or your brother. He wants to-um..do you have any one in your pack that you live with that have mates?" Atreyu was a little curious how much Ivan actually understood of the term.

"Mates? Yeah. All but one have one." His ears flattened against his head sadly. "I hardly see them anymore 'cause they're always with their mate." Suddenly, Ivan's eyes widen. "He wants to be your mate? Is he gonna take you away too?!"

"Oh no, no I wouldn't do that to you kid!" Atreyu patted Ivan on the head and shook his head. "No, even if I got a mate I wouldn't leave ya. I know what you mean anyways...A few of my old friends have disappeared on me. Even my caretaker, Basil, has left me. I would never do that but...yeah..." Atreyu glanced towards the door and shook his head. "he wants to be my mate but the situation is a little, well complicated."

Sighing with relief, Ivan lay across Atreyu's paw. "The only difference I see is that, well..." clearing his throat, Ivan glanced warily up. "Azure and Lira are both girls with guys, Enigma's a guy with a girl, but you're a guy and so is he. Is that it?" He'd heard about somethinig like this before, but had never actually seen/talking about it. He knew it was a touchy subject for some.
((oddly enough, just last week I was wondering what would happen with this situation here.))

Atreyu was silent for a moment before he closed his eyes. The awkwardness was back once more just like he felt the first night Dagger had come and announced like an idiot he was in love with him. Flattening his ears, he wasn't sure for certain if he could give Ivan the answer that he didn't want to be Daggers mate because he was a guy. He wasn't ready for a mate nor did he feel like he wanted one for now nor did he have feelings for Dagger. That was the truth and that was what he was going to tell his friend.
"No...I don't like Dagger and I don't want a mate right now. I just want to enjoy my single life as long as I can." Atreyu said with nod, avoiding the whole gender issue for now.

Ivan nodded his head, though he was still slightly confused. He planted a bonding smile on his face. "Don't worry. We can be single together! This way, we can go wherever the danger is and not worry about anyone else getting caught up." The thought of an adventure energized him. He jumped up onto the pile of boxes, climbing with each exclaimation. "We can go to the furthest corner of the earth and hunt the meanest, baddest creatures ever! Defend those who can't defend themselves! Stand by those who stand alone! Our names will go down as the bravest, noblest, and handsomest knights around!"
