Matsuda? I think he's useful in his own ways. Making things less serious for a change and among all the police/task force (whatever you call them...) he's the only one who's got a pretty face... blaugh

He shouldn't of ******** shot light.
yeah light is a piece of s**t but he shouldn't of shot him, I cried my eyes out when light was running down the street remembering when he was still a normal kid and I was thinking it's all matsuda's fault lighto is gonna dies and it made me dislike his character even more. they should have just let him go to jail or whatever.

Yah, I thought that it was weird that Matsuda actually took the action of shooting. He freaked out and I was impressed. Maybe he was disappointed in the fact that Raito was Kira and Kira couldn't do anything. I mean he really looked up to Raito and then this....

Matsuda still did shoot him yeah, (human instict/reflectexes - if someone were to kill you with a Death Note, wouldn't you do something about it?) but I think it said that the Death Note had a very strong power to overwhelm them in using and submitting to it's power.
And I think Ryuuku knew that. Ryuuku was bored and wanted to kill some time, so he dropped the Death Note in the human world and Raito happened to be the one that picked it up.
In my eyes, Ryuuku started it and Ryuuku ended it. Everything that happened to Raito was because of Ryuuku being bored. It could've been someone else to take the Death Note yes, but it was Raito in this plot line.

Covered-Up Boxers I love him. :"D Pretty drastic to say about an anime character, but if Matsuda were a real person I would have him tied up in my closet. He reminds me strongly of Tosuga from the original Ghost in the Shell(who I also adore).
I think Matsuda somewhat represents innocent justice. He believe Kira was wrong but also saw the benifits(crime going down and whatnot). While everyone else thought 'Kira = Bad cerial murderer' Matsuda wasn't so sure. Sure, Kira was killing people but most of them were killing tens to hundreds more.
May I molest your avatar now? D;He also shot Light's hand off and saved Near from certain death. That's, like, the coolest thing anybody could ever do. I hate Near and I actually wanted Light to win, but oh well. Matsuda is only slightly retarded but at least he makes some things funny. xDD Especially in Volume 11. xD

Argh, I finally read all of the manga and finished Volume 12 last night. I wouldn't have cried reading it if it wasn't for Matsuda, when he shot and was crying and s**t I just felt for him. D: Even though I was rooting for Light. Poor Matsuda. ;-;

Matsuda is a cute and funny guy even though he's a bit dim sometimes thats ok. He's just some comic relief in the world of Death Note.
And he also has an important role during the Yotsuba Group arc and during the ending of Death Note.

I like Matsuda too. He's kind of an idiot, and he's really naive, but that's what makes him funny! He's also really sweet. And also he makes Light look smarter. rofl

Matsuda's on of my favorite characters, he's just so lovable... heart He's cute and naive and innocent, but at the same time he's not as dumb as everybody else in the show thinks he is. He's adorable.

He's such a perpetual amatuer, I was always thinking he was going to die any second (because in a lot of series they kill off the most newbish). So there were some points where I thought "Oh, he's copped it for sure now" but no smile
He does lighten things up at good times.
