galdon yeah, I'm in pain every time i wake up, as soon as I wake up. Doesn't happen randomly during the day or after just relaxing. Do you think it could be some kind of sleep paralysis? That being, a side-effect of your mind waking up before your body completely wakes up?

not sure; I've had times where the circulation to my arm got cut off and couldn't move it after waking, and this didn't feel anything like that, and i didn't have trouble moving so much as just pain.
also; last night i had a normal dream and didn't wake up in pain.

People that get sleep paralysis report waking up and seeing very strange or frightening things and not being able to move at all. They also report a feeling of pressure on their chest and difficulty breathing. I was just curious if maybe this sort of thing didn't translate into full-body pain for you. Have you tried keeping a diary or journal to see if you can come up with connections between the waking up in pain and other factors?

I had tried to figure out any other factors; the first time it happened was a tough day at work so I passed it off as my muscles just being unusually worn out. The second time it happened though was after a particularly easy day at work.
It's happened about 4 nights, and each of those nights i had an unusually realistic dream, which seems to be the only common link I can find, though the dreams are not connected to eachother in any way other than being extremely realistic.
the naps that cause the pain I have no idea about; as I almost never remember the dreams from naps, and sometimes don't remember falling asleep in the first place. ><

If you've been under stress before those incidents then that could be a piece of the puzzle. I've had dreams in which I've experienced realistic pain and then still had that pain for a moment after I woke up. Are your realistic dreams painful in any way?

So far it seems that I haven't had it happen since posting about it; in an odd case of life trying to prove me wrong by stopping the moment i complain about something XD hopefully this continues i prefer not having pain.
Anyways, I haven't been under any special level of stress lately; only one dream had pain within it from a fight I got in, but the other few dreams were not violent.

Hopefully it doesn't come back then.
