Kafiri watched Mezi carefully, wondering what the look in his eyes was and only figuring it out once he glared at his paws and snorted suddenly. She wasn't so surprised that her brother could be like that, she was certainly envious of however small much better her siblings were sometimes treated. She tried to look less amazed and worried as she mimiced Mezi. Her own efforts had been more focused on keeping herself safe and out of trouble, she'd hardly given a thought to trying to be more leopard-like.
Glancing between her two brothers, Kafiri did hope they would figure it out. The only other option she could see was getting mother's help, which might not go so well..

Having spent all of his memory attempting to climb trees, Mezi was somewhat knowledged on them. Or at least, as knowledged as he could be at that age. He had only been /up/ a tree once, and that had been with the leopardess who had for some reason taken a liking to him. On his own he had manged to scrape up trunks and cling momentarily, but never far enough to get near a branch. One time, though, he had managed to jump high enough that he had to slowly let himself scrape down the bark. It took a bit of leg strength, but since Matojo had dedicated himself to being strong, that shouldn't be a problem. All Mezi had to do was fine his brother a tree close enough to jump to.
"Okay, hold on." He moved away from the base of the rotting log, looking around at the various trees near it. It wasn't hard to find a good one, seeing as jungles are plentiful in them. The tree that caught Mezi's eye was thick and tall, with no low branches. If his planned worked, however, his brother wouldn't need any branches. "Okay, Matojo, I've got a plan. You need to jump to a tree and slowly slide down the bark. It kind of hurts after the first few seconds, but you're strong enough. Just jump and dig your claws in as fast as you can. Okay?" He looked up the rotted log expectantly, wiggling his tail. "The tree that looks like it'll work is to the left of the log. See it?"

"I hope you're joking." He stared at the distance and stupidly looked down. "Oh you're not are you Mezi? ...oh..." Matojo snarled in frustration and fear. Had he been human or had he known the words himself, he'd have sworn very colourfully. It was embarassing but he was scared stiff. But he'd have to be brave, he'd have to be...
Coming to the same conclusion as his sister, he realised getting Mleli wouldn't go down well. All there was to do was follow Mezi's plan. After all he knew more about trees than Matojo...Matojo knew about how to dodge and pounce best, but that didn't help much. Besides perhaps pouncing. Maybe if he tried to trick himself into thinking it was a pounce attack, he'd stop being so worried and he'd be able to move.
Picturing a lion poncing about on the branch...~
With a growl, he let go of his grip suddenly and lept as if to hurt the imaginary foe. Claws raked the back, he scrabbled for a moment, and then clung on with his forelegs. He'd made it! He pulled his back legs up on the branch. Then if was a horrible, painful half climb half fall back down to the ground.
He keeled over instantly. "Never again."

Kafiri frowned as she watched. No experience, no insight on if Mezi's plan would work- but she had every hope that it would. In the back of her mind, she couldn't help but nag herself over how getting mother might be best. Would she be more upset if Matojo got hurt, or got stuck? She quickly shook her head, neither would be impressive, but as long as it wasn't serious.. getting hurt might be better. So she stood tensely watching as Matojo leapt from one tree to another, and then descended rather quickly.
"Are you OK?" she asked, jogging over to her brother when he reached the ground.

Mezi winced as he watched his brother slide down the bark. He had done it before, but certainly not from that hieght. Thank gosh for Matojo's strength... the purple cub wasn't really sure what plan could've been hatched if it hadn't been for that one factor. He was positive that a cub any less strong wouldn't have been able to keep the half slid in its descent, and that part was crucial to safe landing. As soon as his brother was on the ground, all of Mezi's tense muscles released themselves and he flopped into a sitting position, almost sighing with releif. If anything, that little adventure had been a bit too far on the intense side. Sure, he liked to do interesting things and all, but that... let's just say he was going to have a really good night's sleep.
After steadying his own heart beat, he looked at his brother and sister. "You did great, Toj. How're the legs?" He crooned his neck a little to get a better look at them under his collapsed brother's body. Almost with a smirk, he thought it ironic that such an innocent game of hide and seek could've turned into such a death defying stunt and skills show. He wouldn't be playing hide and seek anytime soon, that was for sure. Or tag, even.

Quelling the urge to just lay in that position forever and shake, Matojo sat up and moved his forelegs a bit. They seemed okay and he could sit back on his haunches. A few licks to a slightly bloody font paw revealed he'd snagged a claw too deeply into the bark - the claw tip had snapped off but not before it tore a small cut. It stang but wasn't too bad. He tited his head one way, then teh other.
"Not bad. Though I'm not doing that again. Lesson learnt." With a flick of his tail, Matojo decided he was alright. A bit bruised but fine...as for his siblings... A smile, grateful and true. He'd never considered his siblings migt be alright before, figured their mother had probably soured them all...but these two? They were cool.

Kafiri sighed her relief when she realized that Matojo was ok, even the sight of blood didn't concern her too much. He didn't look too hurt, didn't act it and soon assured her himself. When he said he wouldn't try that again, Kafiri looked up at the trees. She'd never tried climbing before, and at first had felt a little jealous, wondering if she should have. Now she knew she wanted to wait, wait until they were bigger and could handle it easier. No trees for Kafiri.
"That was quite the ending to our game," she mumbled, quiet once more now that things had calmed down. It certainly seemed like the game was over now, she definetely wanted to take a little break.

Having calmed down signifcantly, Mezi allowed his mind to wander to things other than Matojo and the blood. Thoughts of their mother quickly came to mind. He wasn't certain what the leopardess would do when she saw his brother's injury. "Err... Tojo, maybe we should go to the stream and wipe that off? Not sure what Mom'll say." He was sure everyone could use a good drink, too, after that ordeal. Or even if someone was thirsty, taking a leisurly walk to the stream would probably do the nerves some good, and get them calmed down before going home. They hada little bit of time before Mleli would get mad, anyway. Why not use it?
Stretching a little and yawning, the purple cub seemingly wiggled off all of the stress that had built up over the past few moments. It had been intense, but now that if was over, it was easy to just let it all slide away. "Unless you guys want to just go home to Mom with the blood and everything..." He winked, showing that he was only joking. He new full well that none of them would want to provoke the leopardess. Even if they didn't know how she would react to an injured cub.
((i guess we could either rp going to the stream or just end it with them starting the walk there?))
