I don't think Light killed for justice exactly. For instance, he killed many police officers that were not evil at all. I think he just wanted power and an ability to show it off. Even if he did start off by wanting to rid the world of evils, he lost his ways. This also hints what would happen to any human who try to become god, as their ethics will become challenged. or maybe even the ethical challenges of god himself, if he exists and we were able to rebel against him or her(with all due respect to all religions out there). I think what brought to his ultimate demise are the changes in his values, wanting to make himself god and losing his focus. If he had focused on ridding the world of evil at a reasonable rate, the people and the police may begin to understand him. I know I'm ranting on... xd
Anyway, if it was me, I'd probably use it to study the shinigami world, and try not to use it, for fear of prejudice, and only use it during emergency situations.

I have a question. If you experimented with it once, got creeped out, and threw it away, would you not go to heaven/hell?

Really, nobody in gaiaonline can probably do what Light did.
Frankly, which genius who could pass the Todai test, scoring valedictorian, be hanging around on gaiaonline for?
Secondly, is anyone that emotionless (unless you're a serial killer), to feel absolutely nothing everytime someone loses his or her life?

Really, nobody in gaiaonline can probably do what Light did.
Frankly, which genius who could pass the Todai test, scoring valedictorian, be hanging around on gaiaonline for?
Secondly, is anyone that emotionless (unless you're a serial killer), to feel absolutely nothing everytime someone loses his or her life?
But we're not as childish as Light was. When L challenges you, would you have honestly narrowed his search by killing people in just your area? No, most of us would have kept it broad, random. It's hard to find a needle in a haystack of 6 billion. @the_noodle: I thought Ryuk said all humans go to nothingness when they die. And, remember guys, the Shinigami that possesses the DN might threaten to kill you if you don't use it. XD I know that's what I would doooo.

Of course not, you would have tried it out on a network that you can see your results almost instanly.

I probably would've picked it up but not use it.
i would've thought it was some stupid joke.
but if i had knowledge about the Death Note

That's true. There's always the possibility of killing famous criminals or leaders that people are alway swatching, though. They'd eventually realize that the killings started in one place and start combing around there. Personally, I'd try it out on politians I didn't like. >_>; That makes me a bad person.

Covered-Up Boxers Jade the Hatless Even if we were okay with killing all those people we wouldn't be able to avoid being caught like Light. Light was a genuis who was able to avoid L's traps among other things and he was even able to outsmart him.
I agree with Captaincarnival's idea of keeping the killings random. I'd have the CIA looking for me, and I'm not nearly as cocky as Light. I'd keep the criminals in general, patternless areas. Screw challenging my opponent. Hide all the way!
Though I think I would've thought about doing the same thing if facing an opponent...
