Debi recognized this area! There was that big rock that stuck up out of the sand that her papa never let her climb on. This was also near where she's seen the red thing.

Aoaka was thinking, too. The only thing he could think of down there that was smaller than his fist, round, and red, was a shell of some sort. Maybe a clam shell of some kind? Come to think of it, the shell that Debi liked so much at home had had a reddish sort of interior. It could be another one like that.

"Was it a shell, Debi?" he asked.

The little girl shrugged. She didn't know, just that it was red and round and she wanted it. "I dunno," she answered.

((You changed the title? I didn't notice it at first and wondered who was rping with Coral. lol wink ))

Coral saw the rock and swam over to it after the red thing she found was just an orange peel. "Over here then?" She said as she looked at the two on land.

((Hehe, yeah, sorry. ^_^ I didn't like the last title, it sounded too threatening, and this popped into my head last night. ))

Debi nodded. "Yep!" she enthused. She knew it had to be around her somewhere... in fact...

"Papa! Swim, Papa!" she said, and pulled on Aoaka's shoulder from where she was sitting in his arms.

Aoaka smiled, and waded into the water before switching to his tail and balancing Debi on his back.

She clamped her little legs around his chest and her little arms around his neck, but her bright eyes were keeping a sharp lookout. She almost missed it, but as they swam slowly past it, an incoming wave took off a thin layer of sand that had been masking the object, and a bright red shone through.

"Coral! Look! Look! There!" she shouted, and pointed at the thing, which was a rather bright red.

It didn't look like any shell Aoaka had seen. In fact, from here it looked to him like some of the old pottery he usually found further down.

Coral then saw what it was the toddler was hollering about. She swam down and then brought it up. She then swam over to the girl and handed it over. "This it?"

Debi grabbed it tightly in her little hand, the other arm also tightening on Aoaka's neck.

"Yes! Shiny red! Fank you!" she said, and beamed at Coral, looking positively adorable.

Aoaka, gagging slightly from Debi's grip on his throat, brought his arms behind him to hold her up so she didn't hand from his neck.

Once he could breathe again, he said, "It looks like some old pottery. But it's a pretty bright color. Part of a pitcher, maybe, worn smooth by the sand and waves? Good find, Debi, Coral!" he said, congratulating the two girls.

Coral smiled. "You are very welcome." She looked at the red thing as Aoaka told them what it was. How odd. Maybe someone dropped it from a picnic or something? Coral wasn't really sure.

Aoaka smiled at Coral, then turned his gaze up to the sky. It was getting close to meal time...

"Are you hungry Debi?" he asked.

The little girl thought for a moment and said, "Yeah! Hungee!" while raising the smooth pottery up high and waving it around.

He looked again at Coral. "I don't know if you're allowed, but you're welcome to join us if you're hungry, too, Coral," he said. "I was planning on grilling some fish and mushrooms down the beach at my fire pit. I even got some strawberries!" he said, grinning. He loved strawberries, ever since he was an Aion.

Debi watched Coral. She wanted her new friend to come eat with them. She reached toward the naiad girl and put on her puppy dog pout. "Pease, Coral? Pease?" she asked. It usually worked with her papa...

Coral thought about it for a moment. She was a bit hungry and she mostly just ate what she found. Which was sushi really. She then nodded. "Okay, sure."

Aoaka smiled, and nodded in the direction of the cave. "That's great! It's right this way... I caught some fish earlier, but I'll have to get them ready for cooking. Why don't you and Debi play for a bit while I do that?" he asked.

Debi was clapping and giggling. She'd never had a friend over before! All her playtimes seemed to be outside, and never planned. "Fun, fun, Coral!" she said.

Coral nodded and followed. "So, why did the clam start working out?" She asked a joke that she was sure wouldn't make sense for the toddler, but she asked it anyway.

Debi frowned. She really didn't know this one, but she thought about it anyway. "Dunno, why?" she asked eventually, tilting her head.

Aoaka swam back towards the cave as the two girls talked, and soon they were in view of the fire-pit and the small outdoor shelter he'd just finished.

"To get muscles. It's like a clam." Coral explained it just in case the toddler didn't know what she ment. Coral laughed as it was pretty funny, not maybe the best. Still, she was only a child after all.

"So, this is where you live? I just live in the water!"

Debi didn't get it at all, but she laughed and clapped her hands anyway. "Good one! Tell more!" she demanded, as she turned the red pottery over and over in her hands.

Aoaka, who was only a short distance away, heard it and laughed though.

"Muscles... that was a good one, Coral. I think I'll remember that, if it's okay?" he asked. He was setting up the fire pit right now, and after that he'd go get the fish that were being kept cool in the cave.

"Would you two girls like to see if you can find any fruit hanging from the branches? Stay on the low ones, though, no climbing!" he admonished with a shake of his finger.

Debi frowned. She didn't want to get fruit. She wanted to play with Coral. She huffed a little bit, preparing to get bratty.

Coral smiled. "Yes, just say I told ya." She winked. Coral wanted to get credit, even if it wasn't her who told someone, for the laughter the joke might cause.

"Oh, okay." Coral looked to see where this fruit was ment to be. She hadn't really ever picked it before.

Aoaka smiled. "Of course I'll give you credit, Coral," he said, and nodded.

Debi caught herself just before she opened her mouth to complain. Coral wanted to go? After a quick thought, she changed her mind. If Coral was going to go, so was she!

She knew where her Papa went to get the fruit. She grabbed Coral's hand, and with her short, pudgy toddler legs, she started in the right direction, expecting Coral to start up right away.

"This way! We get fruit!" she said. It wasn't very far. A short walk later, and they'd found some fruit trees growing on the edge of the forest. As promised, there were some branches that hung down low enough for a child to reach, heavy with the burden of their fruit. The rest of the tree was rather massive, with many branches that looked fun for climbing.

Back at the camp, Aoaka was keeping an eye on the kids in the distance as he placed the fish over the fire to cook them. He settled back, knowing it would take several minutes before the fish was cooked, and then it would take a couple minutes to cool down so it wouldn't burn the mouth. By the time the girls got back, it should be almost done.
