Aishwarya listened quietly. She hadnt really been around the company of foals overly, she wasnt sure if she could relate to them. But maybe that was because they weren't her own, she always assumed that whenever she found a stallion that complimented her, and had her own foals that her motherly instinct would kick in. She didnt think that actually voicing that would be a good idea though.
'I would as well,' she smiled back at Shikoba, lipping him gently. 'So you just have to find yourself a lovely mare to have little winged ones with.' she teased lightly, nudging him.

He smiled, and if his species could blush, he would be at this moment. He didn't know why, but perhaps it was the fact that he knew they were dancing around the topic of them having foals together. But he still wasn't sure what his feelings were. He had never felt this before, but then he had never let himself get close to anybody before, either. Their conversation kept skirting over the topic that both of them were wondering about. Why not just bring it out into the open already?
He cleared his throat and turned to face Aishwarya.
"Aishwarya....I think I'm in love with you..."
He lowered his head, feeling very lame after this plain and blunt statement, and kept thinking that he could have put it better, but it kind of just popped out without giving him a chance to think about it.

Whatever reply Aishwarya was expecting, it was certainly not that one. Yes, they certainly enjoyed each other's company. Lie to yourself, her internal voice scolded. You were looking for him, you even asked another Soquili for help on this very subject! The moments were stretching past, his sweet words hanging in the air and she knew she would have to answer sooner rather than later for fear of hurting his feelings. She would have preferred him not to say 'think', but she was intelligent enough to know that a) beggars cant be choosers and b) it was a big thing for a stallion to admit, let alone out loud. 'You beat me to it,' she spoke finally, her voice tinged with warmth and not a little amusement. 'I wanted to reveal my hand first but I was - I guess I was afraid to.' she flicked a look up at him from under her hair.

Shikoba's stomach flipped, and his heart pounded. He had half expected her to reject him. Thought that he might have been to forward and too quick. But to hear that she felt the same...
"Really? I...I was a little afraid, too, but I just couldn't avoid it anymore. I felt like we were dancing around saying it."
He smiled and moved closer to her, winding his neck around hers in a sort of hug.
"I'm glad you feel the same way Aishwarya."
This was an extreme understatement.

'Neither of us was particularly brave there were we?' Aishwarya giggled, holding her breath involunatarily as Shikoba wound himself her in an affectionate manner. 'Oh I think I am just as glad that you said it, I dont think I could have gone away from you this time without knowing where we stood with one another.'

Shikoba stepped back, unwinding himself from around Aishwarya. He looked into her eyes and sighed. She was so beautiful, and now he didn't have to hide his feeling from her. He looked up at the sky and noticed that the rain was letting up a bit.
"It seems that the weather is improving. Would you care to talk a walk?"

Aishwarya felt her nose wrinkle; she almost laughed a little at the expression on Shikoba's face, but she felt that would not be a good move. Besides, as she thought on it, it struck her that she liked him looking that way at her. It was a good feeling. 'How about you walk me to the Village?' she suggested, ducking under the dripping leaves of the tree, feeling the slight give underhoof of the rain-soaked ground. The light drizzle on her coat was refreshing, but she thought that if it was going to continue in this vein, that she would spend the night in one of the shelters that the two-legger that she knew had built for her kind. 'It's getting late, and I'd rather not sleep outside if this weather is in for the night.'

Shikoba saw her nose wrinkle, and knew that she was fighting a laugh. He decided not to say anything and continued walking on the soggy ground. As he walked beside her, he nipped her neck playfully and adjusted his wings.
"Well, you'll have to walk me to the village, as I've never been there, and don't know how to get there."
As for sleeping inside, he didn't really know what she meant, but he was sure he'd find out when he got there.

'You've not ever been into the two-legged ones Village?' Aishwarya was a little surprised, but she supposed that it wasnt wholly unusual for a Soquili not to have been near the 'no tail' ones. Not every Soquili was accepting of them. For Aishwarya, the relationship she had with them was a necessary one, borne out the length of her mane and tail. It was an impossibility for her to keep it untangled by her own means, and a chance meeting with another mare had led to her first visit where one of the two-legged ones had skilfully used a strange wooden implement to remove the snarls and debris in the waves of her mane, and had even combed out and re-braided her tail. She led him with a sure step, glancing back at him occasionally, just to make sure he was still following. Everytime she did, she smiled sweetly. Soon the tops of the distant teepees were in view, rising up in the evening air like so many unusual tree tops.

Shikoba shook his head.
"No, I've never been. I only know one two-legger. But he's the only one."
Whenever she looked back at him, he saw her smile and gave her one in return. She was so beautiful. And now that they knew each others' feelings, he felt so much happier about the whole thing. He caught up with her and nudged her side with his wing. He matched her step so that they could walk with each other without tangling up their legs and tripping.
As the approached the village, Shikoba didn't know what to make of it. He had seen a teepee before, but never so many in one place! He had no idea that there were so many two-leggers living around here. He turned to Aishwarya, a little nervous.
"How many of them are there?"

'There are quite a number, it's almost like a two-legged herd.' Aishwarya had bought them near to the main Village fire, which was high, a few people were gathered around it, some eating from bowls, other merely chatting amongst themselves as the day drew to a close. 'There is nothing to worry about though, I've never felt nervous being here, they are a gentle species.'
Aish led Shikoba away from the main part of the Village, heading towards the outskirts. A teepee stood a ways from any other, and near it was a wooden shelter made out of branches that had been lashed together, and were supported by trees. 'This is where I spend nights of bad weather. Sometimes alone, occasionally other mares use it. The two-legger maintans it, but she leaves us alone.'

Shikoba followed her into the village, glancing at the large number of two-leggers that were gathered there near the fire. He had never seen so many in his life. Even though Aishwarya assured him that they were friendly, he still was a little unsure. Even if they were normally kind and gentle, if they for some reason got angry, the numbers were definitely on their side.
He calmed down a bit as they moved away from the crowded fire. He looked at Aishwarya's shelter and smiled.
"The two-legger made this for you? It looks nice. I don't get rained on that much where I live, because the trees catch most of the water, but this looks like it would be better than the trees."
He looked inside and found that it was even nicer in there. The two-legger had provided bunches of hay for her to sleep on, and it looked quite comfortable.

'She made it as a general shelter; as I said, I'm not the first to have used it, and often have to share it in particularly awful weather.' Aishwarya glanced up at the sky, the light of the sun was fading and as nice as her time with Shikoba had been, it was drawing to a close. 'Soo..' she let the sentence hang in the air. 'I - well I'm very happy I saw you today, and that,' she paused, gently nudging him with her soft nose. 'We told each other of our feelings.' she fell silent again before speaking. 'Do you have somewhere to go tonight? By the smell of the air, I would say it will rain again.'

Shikoba smiled as she nudged him, and he returned it, rubbing their noses together.
"I'm glad, too, Aishwarya. And I hope to see you again sometime soon."
He looked towards the sky, too, and thought that he had better be getting back to his camp before it started to rain too hard again.
"I do. I'll go back to the mountains where my two-legger has made a camp. But perhaps we will meet by our little lake again soon."
With that, he nudged her muzzle once more and turned to back the way they had come into the village. He trotted forward, slowly picking up speed, and with a great flap of his wings, took off into the air, soaring towards his mountain home.
