pick up the object closest to you that'll do a lot of damage...
... or run like hell.
I'd personally chuck my arm at them, then run away.

Intuitive learning will keep your movements new and wholly true to you. So, experiment in your sparring. Before you spar in your school, think about what you might want to try out in a match. Test it with some good ol' trial and error.

use momentum to your advantage, both yours and your opponents. even though it's known that this method leaves you open in a few spots, if you can make a lasting chain of attacks, that opening appears. (e.g. back hand, round house, sweep kick, side roundhouse, and then back to backhand. i use that when i can't get any room to side step or duck, so i do that. ^-^)
