Gin stared, wide-eyed, as the eggshell broke apart in his backpack and revealed the grey creature underneath. It looked like...well...he wasn't sure what it looked like. Kind of like a fox, but not really, with a horn and huge ears like a rabbit.
It scrambled out of the egg, climbing over his half eaten lunch and an old copy of Orwell's 1984, trying to find a way out of the backpack. The thing looked at Gin and the two made eye contact, creating a bond that would be there for life.
"Ours? Whoa who whoa whoa WHOA!" Gin broke the trance and looked at the building. "I do NOT have room in my appartment for a pet."
He picked up the creature, walked back up the stairs, and knocked heavily on the door.

Deet's blue-grey eyes met with the rich brown eyes of th Jivvin, and much like his easily annoyed friend, a bond was made between the Jivvin and the were cat.
"Gin, I don't think any one is home..."
"Now please, you'll upset the baby!"
"...Baby? Since when are you all maternal and stuff?"
"I-I-I'M NOT! YOU SHUT UP!"

Gin knocked, more angrily and violently than before. The cat man seemed right--there wasn't anybody home.
"s**t!" he cursed under his breath. Was he going to have to take home this...thing for the night? Not for the night, from how the sky looked. He was going to have to crash someplace soon. Gaia was full of weirdos at night.
He tried one more fruitless time at shaking the door before turning back to his companion. "Guess its camping for the night." Gin felt hopelessly vulnerable by himself.
He was willing to ignore the mommy talk for some semi-protection.

Deet walked up to the door, the skullmonkey on his shoulder and the Jivvins in his hand. He grabbed the handle, finding that the door was unlocked. It appeared completely empty, but roomy and well furnished. It matched the outside, a little run down, but regardless it was liveable.
"...Maybe we should just stay here the night?"
