He lead the pup away from the fields, his heading was obvious, since he was going in the direction that would lead them strait into the mountains.
He definitely knew where he was going, taking unusual paths that lead him to places allot quicker then taking the normal route would.
Pausing only when he had to climb over something, giving the pup some time to catch up before carrying on.
After a lengthy walk, Jayce's pace slowed as he approached a small cave in the side of the peppermint mountain, a small field shielded by large boulders on all sides allowing only small openings that Jayce found handy to squeeze though if he did not want to take the larger opening.
Smaller boulders in random places all over the field, covered in all varieties of candies, there colors dulled due to there over ageing.

Yuki, as nervious as he was, couldn't help but let his mind wander as they got closer to the mountains. He'd never really ventured that far from his home, being too timid and afraid. Though... with Jayce, who he knew was strong and tough.. He didn't feel quite as afraid. Inspired by the larger male, he climbed over the logs and bolders, pausing every so often to look around at the scenery. This must be what it was like... To go on adventures. When they entered the valley he looked around, secretly hoping to find some huge sparkling treasure there! Or a volcano about to arrupt at any moment! Or maybe a GOBLIN or dragon!! His tail wagged happily as he jumped up onto a bolder and looked around the valley.
No dragon or adventures... but there was a treasure! He slid down the rock and bounced over to the nearest piece of candy, leaning close to examine it.
"How.. clever! You leave them out, dont you?"

Jayce glanced around at his collection as he strode further into the center of his storage. Letting the pup explore on his own, acting as if he was paying no mind, until the kid actually spoke.
Not looking up he sat down next to one of the rocks, and picked up one of the candies, looking it over and testing its hardness with his claws.
“Yeah. That’s the fastest way to get them good and stale” he explained.
Looking up from the candy, placing it blindly back down he frowned at the pup’s excitement.
“Most do it by mistake, then end up throwing out perfectly good food” he scoffed, moving onto the next batch.

"Well..." He picked up the piece he was starring at and looked it over, smiling softly. "On the positive side... Since it's harder, it takes longer to eat." He looked at him questioningly, wondering if he would have a bite. "It means you can enjoy it more..."

Jayce thought about what the kid said, thinking of the reasons he enjoyed his candy like this. Though it was not the only reason, he had to admit, it was one.
He rolled a shoulder, feeling the other candies, testing their progress. “Maybe. Not something I think about”
Scoffing at how long the gummies were talking he moved onto the next batch.
“Kid get your tail over here.” he ordered, picking up one of the candies and glancing over his shoulder at the Pup.

Yuki quickly dropped his piece of candy back to it's place on the rock and scampered over to him as he called, happy to be at service.. happy to be needed or wanted at all. He beamed and stopped beside him. "Yea? Need help?" He peered over the rock's edge, which was just a bit shorter than him.

not looking up as the pup came over to him. he picked around the cluster of candies laying before them. picking up one and holding it up in front of Yuki, keeping it between two claws, he squeezed slightly, his claws sinking into the sides of the candy.
"thats to soft" he grumbled. then held it so that Yuki could take it.
"its been here for only a couple of days. so it could use more time." he held up another one, repeating the same thing, but instead of sinking in. the candies shattered, and broke off into chunks. "thats perfect"

Yuki took the offered candy and smiled, holding it delicately between his akward paws, smiling at it like it was some treasured gem. "Thanks.." He nibbled at it, watchin him shatter the other piece of candy. After finishing his piece he picked up another and held it between his small claws and pushed, trying to see if they would sink in.. they didnt, so it was obviously stale, but Yuki didnt realize that it didnt matter if it cracked or not.. He frowned and closed his eyes tightly, straining to break the candy, his cheeks turning red.

Jayce watched him for a moment, amused by the kids efforts. he knew that Yuki probably didn't understand why Jayce had broken the candy, it made Jayce laughed inside, but something about the kids efforts told Jayce not to embarrass the kid.
"that means its more then perfect" he reached over and took the Candy from his grip. letting the kid relax for a moment then handed it back.
"its better when they are whole anyway"

Yuki blinked as the candy was taken from him, the redness lingering as he blushed. He looked down, his ears drooping a bit. If only he was as strong as Jayce... But he took the candy back and nodded. "This one is yours then, if it's perfect..." He put it back onto the rock in front of Jayce then took a new one, trying to squeeze his claws into it. It did, just barely, so it wasnt ready yet. He beamed, his ears wiggling in excitement as he got one right on his own! Even if he didnt break it.

he eyed the candy that the pup had put down. and watched half heartedly as the pup continued to check the candies for there 'ripeness'
he continued on his work in a long stretch of silence. putting the candies that were ready in a pile away from the others. he was used to silence, so he didn't think anything of it, until he looked up, having almost forgotten that he had company. blinking quickly a couple of times. he sharply cleared his throat. tossing one of the candies in his mouth.
"whats your name kid" he grunted thickly
