Kitsune watched Ahote make his way into the water, and he seemed refreshed by its temperature. "That's it, at first get comfortable." He nodded and swam closer.
"All it really takes is some practice, and don't worry I will be here to help you out." If anything should go wrong, Kitsune knew that he could support Ahote's weight, especially in the water. "Everything is going to be great though, I know you have it in you to swim." He smiled to him warmly.
"One thing that I do is I always keep my legs moving in a rotation, and that is what keeps me afloat. That way, your body is able to swim around and stay center in the water." He hoped that the advice he was giving made sense to Ahote.

Ahote nodded at Kitsune's instructions and took a few more steps into the water. Now it almost reached his withers. The cool water felt very nice on his skin after being in the hot sun all day. He lowered his head for a moment to take a quick drink of the clear water before taking a few more steps forward. When the water reached his neck, he stopped, and looked at Kitsune.
"I don't know if I'll make it!"
He looked down into the water, seeing how the ground dropped down ahead of him, and thought what it would be like to be down at the bottom of the pond.

He could tell he was frightened, and Kitsune was unable to relate fully. When Kitsune was younger, he was forced into the water by his father, for that was the warriors way. Survive or die, and he pulled himself together and survived.
"Don't worry, I'm right over here! Just try and move your legs in the shallower areas to see if you can remain afloat. Then you can move to the deeper areas."
He hoped that Ahote could learn something from the experience, for swimming was a great skill to keep in life.
"That's it, just take it slowly." He kept saying, reassuringly.

Ahote took a last look at the water before taking a jump forward. He found himself in water too deep to stand in, but he kicked his legs furiously, trying to stay afloat. To his amazement, it was working! He kicked and kicked, almost tiring himself out, and he smiled at Kitsune.
"Look! Look, I'm not dieing!"
He tried to move forward, but he couldn't really figure out how. He kicked his legs, but he only stayed in one spot.
"How do I move?"

He was very impressed in Ahote, especially because of his courage in diving in. He knew he could learn, and he was very pleased with his friend.
"Of course your not dying silly!" He smiled, and perked his ears at his next question.
He thought about it himself, and looked at his legs blankly. "There is a rythym to develop, and that is what makes the body move through the water. It is a mix of floating and swimming." He continued to look at his own legs, wondering how the heck he did move himself!
"Try praticing different strokes with your legs," Kitsune insisited, and he looked at Ahote calmly.

Ahote laughed at Kitsune calling him silly. When he thought about it, there were a few pretty silly things he did.
He tried Kitsune's reccomendation, and leaned his head forward, trying to hepl with the movement of his legs to get himself moving forward. He pushed back against the water, as if he was pushing off of the ground when he was running. And...it worked...well, a little.
"Look! I moved some!"
He tried it again, this time pushing harder, and he moved forward even more. This wasn't so bad! He kept pushing against the water, trying to remember to do it as if he was running, and he swam towards Kitsune.
"Its working!"

Thank goodness his advice worked, and he watched Ahote skidder around the water. "See, swimming is the perfect thing to do on a hot day. Now you will be able to swim whenver you like."
Kitsune turned over on his back to relax for a second. The had done quite a lot for the day, especially when his main motive was to relax. Though he didn't complain at all and was happy with their playfuly games, he strode through the water, resting on his back with his nose in the air.
"Man, I just love swimming," He said to Ahote, as he breathed deep and closed his eyes. "Ahote, aren't you glad you tried it now?" He turned his head towards Ahote's paddling body. "Totally worth it, of course."

Ahote agreed that it was worth the try. He watched the bright orange stallion float around on his back and wondered if he could do that, too. He tried, rolling over in the water, and lifted his head so that he didn't inhale any of the water.
"Look, I can go on my back, too!"
He kicked his hind legs, propelling himself through the water on his back, and couldn't really see where he was going. He bumped lightly into Kitsune, and rolled back over, kicking his feet to stay afloat. He looked at Kitsune and giggled.
"Sorry!"

Kitsune could only laugh, and he watched Ahote skidder away from him. "Careful there! Though its fine, that didn't hurt." He took a gulp of water and spat it out of his mouth.
"What about that, Ahote?" He repeated, but this time took and even bigger gulp, hoping to impersonate a fountiain of some sort. It spattered the opposite direction of them, and it went flying through the air.
"Try doing that, its really fun." He laughed while water dripped off his face. "There is lots of fun things to do in the water, just gotta do random stuff." He splashed with his hoof and kicked so he was back on his stomach again.

The pony smiled and continued to kick, keeping himself afloat quite well for a first time swimmer. He dodged the water that Kitsune was spitting and splashing, and he laughed. He got an idea, and grinned at Kitsune.
He took a large gulp of water himself, well, as large a gulp as can fit in a pony's mouth, and he looked at Kitsune. With a great blow, he spat the water at Kitsune, laughing to see his expression afterwards.

Kitsune tried to avoid the water coming at him, but it was no use. "Oh jeez!" He said, as he rolled over under the water more. Ahote had gotten him good, and now Kitsune needed to get him back! His head popped up suddenly, and his eyes were angry. "Well, you know what they say about revenge.." He couldn't hold his serious expression and went into a smile again. He spun in the water and sent a load of splashes and waves coming towards Ahote. "What do you think of this!" He said, though kept his spinning at an easy speed. He didn't want to trample the fellow! But, he needed to send some water flying.
He had to get him back somehow, and with splashing and moving the water, Kitsune was almost dizzy at his own tactic.

Ahote giggled, trying to dodge the splashes of water coming at him. It was obviously pointless, as the big stallion was more than twice his size, and could produce quite a large splash. He watched as Kitsune spun in circles, and thought that he must be getting dizzy. His laughter could probably be heard a good distance away as he rolled around in the water, playing with Kitsune.
He had actually completely forgotten about his previous inexperience with swimming, and was keeping himself above water without even thinking about it. But as his legs got tired, he swam back to the shallow area where he could stand, and looked out at Kitsune, still spinning, and laughed.

Finally stopping himself, his eyes rolled from side to side for a second, but he looked to where Ahote was standing. He swam over as quickly as he could right after he recovered from his spinning.
"You ok, bud? Swimming gets tiring after awhile, we could go dry off if you'd like." Considering all of the things they did earlier, Kitsune was also starting to feel weary. He was happy that he was able to cool off from the run, but he didn't mind if they dried off either. "I'm sure the sun would dry us off quickly, it usually works well for me." He smiled to him cheerfully.

The little pony nodded. Even with his seemingly endless energy, he was beginning to feel the day's activity in his muscles, and was getting a little tired. He thought that laying in the sun would be nice, but just for a little while, since it was so hot out.
"Sure. I am getting a little tired. We can dry off for a bit, but I don't want to be in the sun too long, since its soooo hot outside."
He giggled, trotting out of the water to the green banks of the pond.

When they had excited the general stream area, they found a patch of grass that layed scattered in rays of both sun and shade. Kitsune nodded to Ahote, and let his body roll into the warm grass. "Heh, here we have both sun and shade, so when we got hot, we can just move over."
He stretched his limbs out, and looked at Ahote to make sure he was feeling good as well.
"I have to say, you are a lot tougher then I first thought." He gave him a playful wink, and then continued on. "I'm glad you approached me, I haven't had this much fun..." He pondered for a second. "Ever.." He chuckled, and brought his eyes on Ahotes. "I'm kind of a loner, but I am glad you brought a different side out of me." He shook his head and flushed, only because he was suprised at the entire day of events.
