Yes, Caucoid. but Caucasian and African American? I was not born in Caucasia, I was born in America. Therefore, I am American. the point isn't that it's labeling, it's that it's labeling which pretends to not be labeling by making it very roundabout. It makes it seem like... like it's an attempt to say "See, everyone is equal! We don't label people by color of skin!" But lo and behold, that is exactly what it is. Basically, the terms "black" and "african american" mean the same thing, but Arican American is more condescending, in the fact that it tries to pretend it's different.

Odd, i only post 2 places here, in this guild, and one other that's a group of friends from way back. Given, i've posted in a debate topic once or twice, but that was probably almost a year ago, yet i still get messages and other contacts from choicers. There was one topic i posted in recently after following a link from here, but i don't even know if it was noticed and the topic was erased by the guy who made it. Anyway, it just seems like they go out of there way quite often to respond to me in one way or another... it's just odd.

I have been giving this bodily integrity matter some thought and I'd like to throw something out to this guild.

1. An adult severely injures or kills a woman. He is caught and in a trial given an appropriate sentence. Can anyone disagree with this?
2. A 3 year old gets hold of a gun that was not stored properly and shoots and kills his mother. This is rightly judged an accident, by a child that is under the age of reason. If anyone is going to be punished, it will be whoever owns the gun. Again, can anyone disagree with this?
3. A healthy woman finds herself pregnant. It is a normal pregnancy with a healthy fetus. The woman aborts anyway.

Can anyone else besides me see the discrepancies and inequalities here?

A. The murdering adult is given a fair trial. A fetus who is not harming the woman in any way is killed out of hand.
B. A child is acknowledged not to be able to comprehend what he has done and is not punished. A fetus, who is not harming his mother at all and is TOTALLY unaware, is killed out of hand.


Maybe I'm totally off-base, since I DO believe that the fetus is a person and I do NOT believe that the mother's bodily integrity trumps that of the fetus.

strange thing is i still only posted that comment here. The topic i was talking about was somewhere else. Only way she could have found it would be if she was lurking around the PLG for some reason. Perhaps they are stalking me.

Given:

A fetus has even less comprehension than a 3 year old.

In a healthy pregnancy, the woman does not die, but makes a full "recovery."

To make this even closer to an aborted pregnancy situation, imagine this crazyness:

I, in a roguish House-esque whim, am taking my break in the private hospital room of a guy in a deep coma. The man has the potential to recover, but also might not. He has minimal brain activity, and is not aware of his surroundings. I'm sitting next to him, watching the Sabres pound the Senators into slush, eating pretzels.
Without warning, on some sort of bizzare, unconscious reflex, this patient swings his fist out and whacks me in the throat, nearly crushing my windpipe. In shock I aspirate my pretzel. Unable to speak, I flail around next to the bed until I kick over a commode. I grow bluer in the face until I'm completely unconscious from the hypoxia.
Eventually, the one nurse on duty looks up from her Lucky Panda Take-Out menu to investigate the commotion. Valiantly resuscitated by two nearby residents who just happen to resemble Zach Braff and Jesse Spencer, I escape death and make a full recovery.

Now imagine I demand this patient not only be absent for his trial, unable to plead his case in his state, but be executed for attempted murder.

Totally reasonable, right? Remember, kids, we're the crazy evil oppressive ones. 3nodding
