Arvid stared out to the water, taking in a deep breath.
"Okay..." he said, slowly wading into the water at least up to his knees. If he was going to help the two toddlers learn to swim he needed to stay a bit shallow.

Waikiki Keanu resumed his splashing. "Fun, fun!" he exclaimed gleefully. He was starting to really like the feel of the water.
Reira laughed as she scooped up her son to follow Tiki Jim and Waikiki Kiki a little ways into the water. She sat and held Waikiki Keanu, and also kept and eye on Arvid.

Coral swam over to Arvid. "It's nice and cold. I think the colder the better. Hot water could cook ya." She giggled and winked at him. "I can help too!" She clapped.
Tiki Jim let Waikiki KiKi feel the water more. He wouldn't let her go, but hold her up so she could try to swim. "Here you are."
Waikiki KiKi giggled and smiled. "Yay! This fun!"

Arvid sat down in the place he was standing with a splash, the water now up to about is chest, if not a bit higher. The water was indeed cold, but he didn't mind. It actually felt rather refreshing. A couple of water droplets fell down his throat and he made an odd face in surprise.
"The water tastes salty...is that normal?" he asked Coral.

Waikiki Keanu wanted to keep splashing, so he moved his hands into the water. He was rewarded with a nice splash, but he felt himself move a bit too. He paused wondering if he had done something wrong. It was kind of fun, though...
Reira jumped a bit at Keanu's eagerness. "Whoa, sweetie, you're ready to swim already, aren't you?" She laughed, not letting go of him in case he actually figured things out.

Coral looked at Arvid and then shurgged. "Sure it's always like this. It's nice." She was used the water being born in it and not being able to leave it while she was a toddler.
"How awesome are we all doing?" Tiki JIm asked as he watched his twins enjoy the water. They seemed like naturals. As he knew they would.
Waikiki KiKi giggled and sat back in her daddy's lap. It was still a bit new. She kicked with her feet and hit with her hands which splashed her.

Arvid looked at Coral and then smiled. "Really? That's neat! The pond I learned to swim in tasted more like mud and water plants. The water here tastes better!" he said with a laugh and an affirmative nod.

Waikiki Keanu protested against his mother's hands. "Swim, swim!" he declared gleefully. He wanted to move around like Coral was, even if he hadn't completely figured it out yet. He started kicking, and inadvertently splashing Reira in the face.
Reira just shook off the water that was splashed in her face. It was quite refreshing, really. She was listening to the conversation between Coral and Arvid, and thinking about how odd the water had seemed to her at first.
"We're doing quite awesome!" she replied to Tiki Jim with a laugh. "Though we're a bit of a handful, aren't we?" She tickled her son's sides, and he laughed and kicked more.

Tiki Jim chuckled. He smiled at Reira and the kids. "Well, should we let them in the water and see how they do?" He knew they were safe as long as they were there and in the shallows. Plus, he could put a safty bubble around them if things went wrong.
"A pond? Humm... I've never been there. I haven't had legs long so I haven't made it around this place yet." Coral knew she needed to, but being a child she was used to the lake.
Waikiki KiKi giggled and splashed. She was ready to try and be free. She could tell her brother was thinking the same thing.

Arvid tilted his head, now curious about a few things.
"How do you get legs anyway Coral? Is it a special ability of yours, or can all Pae'il like you get legs?" He then stopped and sort of looked downward, wondering if it was his place to ask.
"I'm...sorry...I'm just curious is all..." he said, fumbling with his fingers.

Waikiki Keanu looked back at his mother, then to his father when he spoke. He was understanding more and more. "Let go! Let go!" He exclaimed, excited, and still struggling. He wanted to see what this water stuff was really like.
Reira heard Arvid's question and kept an ear on his and Coral's conversation. She knew it was something about the necklace; she'd heard that at some point, but she didn't know the details and was rather curious.
"I think they're ready," she told Tiki Jim with a laugh. Kiki was being much calmer about things than Keanu was... When they were babies, hadn't it been the other way around? She sighed, as only time would tell their true temperments. "You're ready to try to swim?" she asked Keanu as she tickled his sides again. "Then here we go..." She relaxed her grip on the toddler, hoping he would be a natural.

"It's the necklece, see." She showed it to Arvid with a smile. "Or else I can't leave the water not only I won't have legs I would be able to breath either. I'd drown of air or something like that." She giggled.
Tiki Jim nodded. "Yes, I think you are right." Tiki Jim let go of Kiki as well. He could tell she wanted to go and they were there if anything happened anyway.
Waikiki KiKi giggled and began to swim. It was more like a dog paddle or floated, but hey it was swimming to her. "Yay!"

Arvid blinked, looking at the necklace. "Wow...really? That's neat!" he said then gave a little splash in happy understanding. This trip was proving to be a good experience after all with all that he was learning.

Waikiki Keanu continued his wild splashing for a bit and made some progress that way. When he looked over to his sister, what she was doing seemed to be working out better so he tried it. "Kiki!" he called out, wanting her attention so they could swim together. This was tiring stuff, though!
"Oh, that sounds like a very special necklace," she told Coral. What the Naiad said clarified things a little bit.
Reira smiled as she watched the kids swim. "They're naturals. It must be from you." She looked up at Tiki Jim and smiled warmly. "I bet they'll be worn out in no time, though."

Coral nodded. "Yeah it is. I wonder if you all wore if you would get a tail and breath under water?" She giggled as she figured that wouldnt' happen.
Waikiki KiKi giggled and swam with her brother. Her mom was right, after a bit she was tired. "Tired." She said as she climbed into her daddy's lap.
Tiki Jim smiled and patted her head. "Still, you both did awesomely!" He looked to Reira and Waikiki Keanu to see if the other was tired too.
