Unlike the adult, Mezi was no longer having an inner battle. It had been a blow to his ego to have to be helped up a tree, but now that he was up here, his mood was higher than his body. In fact, he had almost forgotten about his ego, or at least the wounded part of it. He had, of course, been thinking of the stories he'd tell to his siblings with his head held up and a smug look on his face. The fact that he had needed help seemed to be completely gone from his mind. The fact that he was being helped by a leopardess other than his mother didn't bother him one bit, considering he highly doubted Mleli would ever bring him up a tree. Everything was ponies and daisies in the world of the purple leopon; at least, if ponies and daisies could be in a tree.
"Uhh... sorta." He stuck his tongue out to the side a little, concentrating hard as he stood up. Slowly and a bit wobbly, he turned his body around, tail waving about in the air to keep his blanace. It took a little longer than an experianced leopard would've, but he did manage to turn around without slipping at all, and started strutting his way back to Kizu, the look of a prince on his face. It was almost certain that he would eventually inherit more lion like traits, but there was always hope that he would also get the grace and agility of his mother's side of the family. For now, he seemed small enough to manage and had enough instinct to use his tale as a balance beam.

"Good job! That's a fairly complex thing to do, you know, turn around on a branch. If you practice and keep it up, you'll be able to turn even faster," she said. For her, running in the trees was as natural as running on the ground was to the average cheetah. Perhaps someday Mezi'd be running as fast through the trees.
"For now, though, will your mother notice you've been out for a while? Or will you be alright to stay out a little longer?" Kizu asked. She didn't want Mezi's mom to be mad at the poor little guy.

At the mention of his mother, Mezi's mood was visibley altered. He'd like to lie, since he did all the time anyway, and say that Mleli wouldn't mind him out late one bit. He knew it was the exact opposite, though, and that if he wasn't back by the time she started wondering where he was, she'd come looking. He wasn't exactly keen on having her find him up a tree with another leopardess. The scene played out in his mind, and it wasn't exactly a pretty one. "I uhm..." He stalled, tracing cirlces on the bark with one of his claws. Now that he was up so high, he didn't want to go back to the ground. Surely he'd experiance some sort of withdrawl from being once again ground bound. The thought wasn't very pleasant.
"Well... Ma might get worried if I don't get going soon." He decided that was the best wording. Deep down, he knew that the spotted brown leopardess really did care for her brood in a mother sort of way. She was just... detatched? Was that a good word? She loved the leopard half of them, not the lion half. That seemed to make the most sense. Either way, he did know that she'd come looking for him if she couldn't find him, and that she'd be rather annoyed that she had to.

"Well, I don't want her mad at me," Kizu said, looking down at the cub. This had happened before in her life, to an extent. Only Kizu had been the cub, and they hadn't been in a tree-climbing situation. Her mother came blazing in, angry at the stranger, and ready to kill. Simply a situation that Kizu thought would be best avoided.
"Whenever you think you need to get home, let me know. I don't know your mother, nor how lenient she is," Kizu said, hoping not to be put in the place of the stranger. Many seemed... Overly protective of their offspring. Whether this leopardess was, she didn't know, and hoped not to find out.

Mezi wore the leopon equivelant of a frown. He didn't really want to leave, and he was truely tempted to lie and say he had plenty of time before he should go home. Truth was, the longer he stayed, the more chance of a confrontation between Mleli and Kizu, something he definately did not want to be the cause of. Over the past little while, he had grown fond of the grey and teal leopardess, and didn't want to bring her any harm or discomfort, be it physical or mental. He certainly didn't want to make his mother angry, either. She was bad enough in one of her good moods. Her angry swings were things that he wished to never bring up intentionally. "I should be getting home asap, then." He stared at the bark, his voice low and sad.
One look over the edge and he knew there was no hope of him getting down on his own. He really had wanted to attempt it, but they were so high up... Even if he clung to the trunk and slowly slid, his pads would be bleeding profusely by the time he hit the bottom. Looking back up at Kizu somewhat embarrased, he waggled his tail and attempted a smile. "Could you help me get down?" It was extremely difficult for him to ask for help, but he managed it somehow. He doubted the leopardess would laugh at the request, seeing as she had already helped him up. Seeming weak in front of a FULL leopard, though, was never pleasant. In his mind, needing help meant he was weak.

Kizu smiled. "Yes, I could help you down," She bent forward to pick Mezi up again, but stopped first. She sat down on the branch, ready to give the cub a lecture. "Some tips about going down, when you are strong enough to climb. It's a lot harder than getting up- at least going down and being in control. You've almost got to map out where you're going to jump. And where the tree isn't vertical, has any horizontal properties, you can run on that with ease, just be careful for your claws. Watch as I go, alright?" She asked, hoping that perhaps her words would help him in the future.
With that, she picked up the cub by the scruff, quickly "read" the tree, and went down her planned descent. Jumping first down to the branch she used to get up, then running down the tree as she said, where it had a slight bend. Then she lept, and hit the ground. Her shoulders absorbed the impact quite well. Kizu set him down on the ground again. "See what I mean?"

Mezi wasn't entirely sure he enjoyed being picked up by the scruff. It seemed like he lost all independence whenever it happened, no matter who was lifting him. For the moment, however, it seemed okay that he was loosing a bit of independence. After all, Kizu had brought him up a tree, and was now helping him back down. If anything, he owed her his moment of happiness. Because of the leopardess, he now knew everything he had to look forward to. Plus, he had complete bragging rights over his siblings. He highly, HIGHLY doubted any of them had managed to get up a tree trunk yet. He had been practicing forever and had still needed help. Surely none of them had found a way to do it alone quite yet. Soon enough, though, they'd all be in trees. When that day came, he'd have to go and hunt down Kizu, just to show her what he could do.
When they flew down, Mezi payed as close attention as he could. He had never given descent too much thought before. His whole life, he had focused mainly on getting up the tree. As they hit the ground, he realized he had no idea how to get down. Good thing she had show him, though it looked like it would definately need some practice. "Yeah. It looks tough but... I'm sure I'll manage." He grinned rather smugly.

Kizu smiled. She doubted she would see the leopon again, but if she did... she wondered if he'd be able to climb next time they met. "I'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time," she said, smiling down at Mezi. "I'm sure you have to be off, I don't want any angry leopardesses hunting me down." She wasn't exactly sure how to say goodbye... She'd never cared for anyone enough to have to know how. Her mother, of course, but she had said that goodbyes were unnecessary between the two of them...
"I guess I'll see you later, Mezi," She said with a nod.

"Yeah... Well, thanks a bunch!" In a fit of pleasant emotions, Mezi did something that was very rare for the little male. He ran up to Kizu and hugged her leg. It wasn't something that happened often, even when the leopon was with his family. After all, he was trying to remain cool and calm like a real leopard all the time. Showing appreciation and affection certainly didn't help him maintain an image. Today, though, something absolutely incredible had happened. he had been up a tree. So, over whelmed by his happy mood, he hugged without even thinking. When he oulled away, he looked up at the leopardess with sparkling, steely eyes. "See you later!" He meant it. His cub mind seemed to believe that aquantences meet up all the time in the Jungle. He had yet to get a complete grasp on reality, but there was always hope, right? Next time he saw her, he'd be able to climb. That he promised himself right there, as he trotted away from Kizu. After a few steps of the easy going pace, though, he switched it for an all out run, deciding that the faster he got back to Mleli the better. Wait 'til he told his siblings!
