Gaius gave a low whistle as Tommy explained. "Wow... just last week? I remember when I first met you... I was still normal, and you were pretty badly beat-up." He pulled a face before breaking into a half-smile. "Listen... I sympathize about the hands. I really do. How're you managing with those limbs...?"

The outburst from Newt caught Gaius by surprise. He'd been keeping an eye on the frog, but he'd not been expecting any kind of apology or panic. The horse-man let out a startled whinny-like cry, nearly dropping his plate at the whistle, and gawked as the huge eyes bobbed. On an island of weird things, he was in a room with some of the weirdest, it seemed.

Holding out a pacifying hand, Gaius tried to speak over the frog. "Hey! Hey, it's okay! It's okay you don't have them done - it's not that big a deal, alright? Just calm down! I'm not mad, I promise." He half-smiled in an attempt to prove his mood. "It's okay, I can get someone else to make it if you can't..."

"It's okay," Gaius said, his tone glum. "I know what that's like." He recalled the previous incident with the construction site. Vanishing work was even worse than supplies... "Did they take all your stuff then? And who gave you that nasty scratch?"

He shifted, still rubbing his muzzle, "Ah... y-yes..." Numerous times. "It's... I'm... living in the sw-sw-swamp now... since... since they... stripped everything..." He missed his work bench. His converted swampy duplex had been very comfortable and safe... it had been his safe place until he had ruined it by acting out that pent up aggression. His throat bobbed and he blinked again, swallowing, "Th-this? Ah.. I d-don't... " He didn't want to spread bitterment, but he had already told Sophie, hadn't he? The bully deserved a bit of slander. "It w-was... w-was that... that... c-cat... creature, Richard. He... he and I were.. arguing and... " He figured he didn't need to explain further... a butter knife could have cut his thin amphibious skin, let alone a cat claw.

"It... it..." Newt swallowed, rethinking the fight as he had countless times since it had happened, "It... it w-was... over a wo-woo... over a woman, really... I... I d-did something... something stu-stu-stu-stupid and... KrrIIT and he... er... sh-sh-sh-sh-she... got... I m-mean R-richard... er... g-got angry... KrrrIIIT and... and we were arguing and... w-well... I sup-sup-suppose it w-was my own f-fault..." He twisted his webbed fingers demurely.

If Newt could have blushed, his face would have been crimson as he lowered his snout and stared down at his large flat feet, "Th-that was the pro-pro... krrIIT problem! I... I y-you know... s-sor-sor-sort of... started it..."

Victor looked back and forth between Gaius, Marshall and Newt as they talked about how Richard had given the frogman a mean looking scratch. While that did surprise Victor for a moment, he then wondered what Newt had done to provoke Richard.

The lizardman's attention turned elsewhere as he then noticed Tommy had his former dufflebag around his neck. "Tommy, hhow isssss thhat dufflebagg worrkkingg forr you?" Victor asked before he started to crawl over closer to where the Bat Man was to make it easier to talk

Nita had overslept from her late-morning nap, and so there was plenty of time for people to assemble in the cafeteria for Marshall's party by the time she arrived.

She carried a small plastic container under one arm. After a quick scan of the cafeteria, in which she took in the decorations and rather impressive spread, the red panda girl located Marshall. Without pausing to think about who else might be nearby, Nita padded quickly across the room.

"Happy birthday, Marshall! I brought you something!" announced Nita. She held out the Tupperware box proudly.
