Soldier Scientist
It's the implied extrapolation. Any idiot knows that dropping massive amounts of body weight in a short period of time is bad for you.
If everyone knew that, nobody would ever go on a crash-diet. You forgot the cardinal rule of dealing with real life: 90% of the people out there are complete twits.

Ahh, yes, most people are twits. BUT models (for example) know extreme weight loss is dangerous, yet it will come down to legislation (by a different group of twits) to stop them from doing it!

I don't really like the idea. I kind of hate birth control now. It makes lots of blood clots and it just makes me feel unnatural. I'd rather rough it, I mean I have long and painful periods but I like to deal with it. I'm sure the pill does have lots of nasty side affects. I'm going to quit that Yaz crap I'm on and just go back to the way things were.

But this is just me speaking I can't control you guys to agree with me or anything. I'm sorry if I insulted anybody with anything I've said which I'm not sure it would... But still I'm sorry.

I just think I'm acting this way because I'm having my period right now too... I'll shut up and let you guys talk.

And yes I say that skinny girls who go on diets are twits!! Nobody needs to lose weight if they have none to lose. They'll end up like that lady I saw on the cover of a magazine... Losing lots of weight doesn't make you pretty. Beauty comes from the heart!! X3

(Sorry guys I have to do this. Can't resist it. XD)

Just because you are skinny doesn't mean your in shape or at the right weight.
I weigh 140 right now and no one would be able to tell. I'm ten pounds overweight and my fat to body percentage is high, to the point where I am borderline obise...and I don't look fat. (at least that's what people tell me, regardless of how I feel)
People always tell me I look like a stick and am dumb for wanting to loose weight, but I want to be healthy and being helthy is being at the right weight doesn't matter that I don't look like I need to loose it.
I think diets are silly though, it's all about excersicing.
xp
Your right though, being skinny doesn't make you perty.
But being fat doesn't either...

i might say...
it may be harmful to the female body because some chemical will enter it. you just need to let the blood flow, and after a few days/weeks, itll be gone. i dont want some dangerous pill to enter the female body beause who knows? it might be fatal.

Disclaimer: ALWAYS see a doctor before you take on ANY method of birth control!

I've been on a bcp for several months now. It's simple. Instead of taking the little white sugar pills, my doc suggested to simply continue on with the dosage. He also suggested that I DO take the little white sugar pills every 3 to 4 months or so, so I can at least suffer with menstruation 4 to 3 times a year. Hmmm... I elected not to. Since I'm on this bcp, it doesn't allow my body to actually form that awful bloody mess in there, so there's no need to be worrying at all about it. Plus, having no sex is a good thing - I think the combination of abstinence and this method of using a bcp has actually made me healthier than when I was not on this bcp and when I was being more naughty. I see no point in selling myself short though. Too late, but hey.

Also, the reason I've elected not to have a darn period is simple: It makes me sick as a dog every time. Ninjas can't perform their duties if they have to lay in bed like wussies crying over some cramps they chose to keep having.

My periods aren't excruciating, and I don't bleed profusely for weeks on end. If I did, I would definitely consider the pill. I'd rather not mess with my body's natural cycle. I want to know that I'm getting all of the estrogen that I need, and that I'm not getting it artificially. I also take it as a sign of being healthy. Really, I'd rather menstruate for the rest of my life than ever have to go through menopause.

On the topic of skinny and fat (only saw the tail end of it), people don't realize that weight and appearance alone don't mean you're healthy necessarily. It's about diet, exercise and all that good stuff. I think really skinny girls are gross. They're supposed to have fat. Not a lot, but around 25% body fat is healthy, not 36% or 10% like some have. rolleyes

Actually, "menstration" is an incorrect spelling of the term "menstruation" which might explain why somebody is uncertain as to what it is. At any rate, QueenMuave seems to explain it very nicely. smile

Hmm... I dunno... I kinda like being able to squeeze in between places that most people can't quite fit, and I like the ability to hide behind things. I don't believe my ribs poking out of my chest cavity is very attractive, but that's what mock neck shirts are for. And the funny thing is that now I'm actually taking the time to sit down and eat (because I am more important than my job, and need to learn that), I am developing my little tummy again. It's funny having a tiny chub around the belly, but bones poking out the top portion of my chest (you know, closer to the neck - but not the clavicle).

Oh yes, and there's a lot less stress on the legs when I'm running now. I recall weighing a mere 10 to 15 pounds more in high school, and I can't imagine how difficult it must be for people to actually have to run with more than 10-15 pounds of extra weight. I always felt kinda bad for their struggle, but at the same time, I really enjoy the ability to whiz by everything now. Of course, winter is coming right up, which is why I'm eating more - I want to survive and be warm. razz

And in case you want to go and call me anorexic, you shouldn't. Those folks look at their skeletal frames and think they're fat. I look at my frame and think I'm healthy, or underweight, or I wonder, "Where did my hips and bottom go?" When they come back, though, I'll be very happy to welcome them. They're poking their head around the corner to greet me again now. smile

And stress can either make you gain lots of weight or lose lots of weight, it just depends on the type of body, genetics, and thyroid activity you have.

I would use it later on, when there's been more testing on it. Sure, my periods are absolutely horrible, but I would rather go through them with nothing but ibuprofen instead of something that's only been tested a little while. It's like buying an iPhone or a PS3 - I'm waiting for the re-release of a debugged version (except, of course, it's my body on the line, which makes it much more important).

I think it is a ok idea. I can't realy see the point the exsiting methods where fine and if you keep having more advanced ways of stopping pregnacys then the are bound to carry more risks...so wahts the point when the excisting methods where fine?

Well some women have extremely painful periods (myself included), so I can definitely understand why this would be big news to women like that.

I've been diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovary syndrome for the last four years. I rarely get my periods as it is (last time I got mine was November
eek ), but when I do get them, the pain is quite literally crippling. The first day of my period is normally spent literally screaming in pain on the floor.

So to someone like me, a pill that can safely rid oneself from a period all together is a huge deal.

And you don't have to be in that kind of pain to benefit. Many women have at least discomfort with their periods. It might not be a big deal to all of them, but some women still might find the idea worth it. It might not seem like anything great to you, but believe me, so some women it's a miracle.

The way these pills work is through inhibiting certain hormones (ie Progesterone
and estrogen which is an insanely important hormone group for women). Blocking these in a long term could cause some bad secondary effects like bleeding out loss of appetite, dizziness etc. In a drug that has not been broadly or long term tested i would run away from it. But hey then again you can get a settlement check worth millions once you lose you ability to procreate, or it might be your relatives since you might just be dead.
