Well, I just finished volunteering for my city and I was at a day camp. I was in the preschool class and there was this little boy who had diabetes (don't know which type) and his aunt had to come in everyday t ocheck his blo od sugar, and it was usualy low but this one day it was high so he had to take an insulin shot (I might be wrong) but he wouldn't leave to take it so he had to take it in front of all the other kids. I found out later that his blo od sugar was supposed to be 4.7 to 4.9 (again, I may be wrong) and it was at like, 16

A cure will be found, it is only a matter of time. I think type 1 diabetes would probably be cured by stem cells differentiated into langerhan cells and then implanted in the host. Type 2 probably by a pill that reduces the affect of adipokines on insulin tolerance. I'm sure there are other ways to do it as well... but I think these could work.

A friend of mine actually deleveoped it when he was 21, when he got sick and for some reason his immune system was hyperstimulated and then attacked and killed his langerhan cells, which produced insulin for him. He's been taking insulin shots since.

I did see and article on digg that was a supposed cure or pill to slow down or stop type 2, as for type one, I think we will have a cure in about 10 years.
