Eugene Mann

"Jacky!" Eugene scolded, as if he was taking care of some one half his age instead of some one just a few years his junior. He wasn't sure what he was to Jacky: A freind? A lawyer? A servant? A baby sitter? He couldn't help but wonder these thoughts.

Then he'd look at her chest and decide that he really could care less.

Of course, it was right about this time that their wait finally ended.

Without any warning, the doors to the "staff only" corridor opened and a rather strange looking individual strode through brimming with confidence. Despite his outdated suit paired inexplicably with a labcoat, and the long, shock-white hair, the man bore no apologies - or explanation - for his appearence. Carried in one hand was a metallic briefcase which he promptly sat down on the coffee table in front of the couple and took a seat across from them.

"Dr. Sabin Duvert, at your service." He grinned, leaning forward and extending a warm hand. "And... as you can probably tell, I am not Dr. Moreau. Unfortunately, there appears to have been a bit of a scheduling mixup: Moreau was called to an emergency board meeting on the mainland this morning." His tone was apologetic and almost sheepish, although that sentiment did not seem to reach the man's focused blue-grey eyes.

"I know that he regretted having to leave so suddenly, and told me that he had been expecting your arrival and dealing with the important business of the law suit, and asked that I see to your affairs - and your comfort - personally until he can return and deal with the troubling matters."

"Of course, you'll be put up in our finest island residences and everything will be provided for: food, lodging, and we have an open beach bar." He smiled knowingly, his eyes darting ever so briefly to Jackie. "And there is of course the final matters of the immunizations." He gestured to the silver briefcase.

Eugene reached over, shaking the oddly dressed man's hand. "Dr. Duvert, I'm sure you're well aware of the trauma my client has already suffered from your company. I would simply like to have this matter settled...As soon as possible."

...YOU FRENCH SON OF A b***h! What do you mean he's not here?! I put up with that ********' rat-dog for five hours in a cramp helicopter while Jacky hit on that sleeze-ball just to get here and find out that I have to put my one friggin' goal in life on the back burner for WHO KNOWS HOW LONG?! I OUGHT TO THROW THE RAT-DOG AT YOUR FACE!

"Yes, well...Thats fine." Eugene said bitterly as he took off his jacket, rolling up the sleeve on his shirt. If he was going to have to stay here for a while, he might as well not get sick.

O~pen bar! Jacky purred ever so quietly, however her joy was short-lived with the reminder of shots. The painful type of shots which didn't go well with a fancy slice of citrus.

Jacqueline cringed as Eugene prepped his arm for piercing, crossing her arms close to her body. "Shouldn't we have some pain killers first? My skin bruises very easily." She eyed the silver case wearily and snatched up Brewster as a shield. Damnit Eugene.... Why the hell did we have to come out here to this damned island!?

Sabin pulled out the twin bottles and wrapped syringes, opening them, filling them with the clear liquid, and set them back down in the case as he got out the alcohol and cotton swabs also packaged in the case.

"Of course Mr. Mann. And we do apologize for having you go through this added headache on top of the already regrettable situation. Moreau did not wish to delay this meeting, but really had no choice. We will see to it that your stay here is as painless as possible." He flashed a genial smile, though there did not seem to be quite so much sincerity behind it - not that the situation didn't seem to already be one where most formalities would be feigned.

He went first to Eugene, swabbing his arm with a practiced confidence. In one swift motion he slipped the first needle into his arm, released the contents, and then replaced the needle in the case while going to Jacky.

"It is just a simple innoculation, Miss Brisco-Thomas. And I am a practiced doctor. There should not be any bruising, just a simple swelling, and perhaps a low fever this evening. But there will be pain medications readily available to you in the village when you arrive."

And with that, he similarly injected Jacky. The injection itself, as he promised, was relatively painless, at least until she could feel the warmpth of the serum coarsing through her blood.

"And that, my friends, is that. I can have the security team take you to your rooms." He gestured to a jeep, idling outside.

Eugene tried his best not to show his anger in front of Jacky or the apparently fancy French man. He already felt noticeably warmer, not bothering to put his jacket back on.

"I assure you that we'll be in contact." Eugene said as he stood up, only coming up to Sabin's waist line.

Damn right we'll be in touch! I'm going to make your life a livin' hell until I get to talk to Moreau and get this matter settled!

Jacky rubbed her arm tentatively. It felt surprisingly normal, but she wasn't so sure she enjoyed the thought of being sick later, unless it was from her own intended drunkenness. She would definitely be sending Eugene off for rounds at the beach bar.

"What about Brewster? I don't want him dying on me when we get home due to some crazy African Dog Flu." Although I wouldn't want to deny myself the joy of having to go through a whole 'nother long-a**, waste-of-my-time lawsuit. She set her sunglasses up on her nose and glared at Sabin through them.

Sabin laughed disarmingly. "You don't need to worry about your pet. This is strictly a human virus, and your little friend should be blissfully immune to the contagion."

Sabin nodded down to the short man, his eyes sparkling with an amusement that Euguene was probably used to seeing by this point. While he said nothing to specifically seize upon, it was more than obvious that Sabin found some sort of amusement in Eugene's stature.

"I'm sure that you will, Mr. Mann. Ms. Briscoe-Thomas."

Sabin walked them to the door, which slid open and gestured again to the jeep. "All of your things should still be in the back seat. Our driver will take you to your duplexes, Numbers 39 and 40 respectively." Sabin slid his hand quickly into a coat pocket, withdrawing matching keys, not too unlike old hotel keys - the numbers printed boldly onto the plastic keychains.

Eugene glared up at the man in the black hat, a very clear glare that said loudly 'Keep staring and I'll punch you in the privates'. He took the key hastily, sliding them into his pants pocket in one motion.

"Good day, Dr. Duvert." Eugene said, strictly as a formality as he opened the door for Jacky.

Jacqueline walked briskly past Eugene half-dragging Brewster who of course was intent on investigating Sabin after it was time to go. The Shar-pei barked sharply skidding backwards on his pads. "Move it along, Brewster!" Settling in the front of the Jeep Jacky rubbed her thumb over the numbers on her room key. Turning her head she yelled right into to the driver's ear, "Hurry up and get in the car Eugene!"

The guards in the jeep seemed to be perfectly fine wiht just driving and not saying much during the trip through the narrow jungle roads to the clear-cut area of duplexes.

They were driven to a set of duplexes labeled 39 and 40, number 40 situatued right on top of number 39, up a small flight of external stairs. Their baggage was carried in by the guards, and they were left to their own devices.
