There's a GSA at my school, but even if I was totally out, I wouldn't join it. :T

blue_not_red Im going to come out after highschool. I dont like too much attention, and I would be the only out gay in the school. You mean to say you have a GSA devoid of gays? I can see not wanting to come out in high school. There was always implicit knowledge that I was gay, and no one cared. Meanwhile, the flaming bisexual guy with the beret was called a "f*****t," and morning small talk among three of us together made up the largest gathering of gays in the school, the attitude wasn't exactly welcoming either.

Same here. I get no harassment at all, despite the number of homophobic people here. But this bisexual guy I know gets beat up every now and then and is always getting threats and harrassed. I, honestly, think it's because he acts way more flamboyantly than I do.

It was, and likely still is, a double standard, Nadia. Jocks, with whom I was also acquainted or friends with, could have easily passed off my bisexual friend's "slutty school girl" outfit, and people wouldn't bat an eye. It's completely idiotic and inane. How I wish I could still smack a high school student upside the head and get away with it. stare

I'm regarded as a boy off-line, btw. sweatdrop But I think it's how you conduct yourself. I don't do anything terribly outrageous, and while I say things that are way outside the scope of "normal" things to say, I don't behave in an outlandish manner. While my friend does.

Meh, I came out Junior year and never regretted it. I was the only out gay at school and I had fun with it.( Some others were outted accidentally senior year.) My favorite moment was when some guys in the hall commented on my necklace and asked if it meant anything. I said it represented Gay Pride. They started to back away, and I told them "Don't worry, I'm not going to hit on you. I've got taste." I walked away to laughter ringing up and down the halls. They laughed at themselves too. It's a line I've used many times since, to great effect.

I never laughed so hard in my life. This guy has a thick mullet and prides himself on "pull my finger" jokes. Oh yeah. That's sexy stare

I would like to know how a country so hell bent on freedom can be so prejudice and discriminative.

blue_not_red There is no Alliance like this in my school. I would start one but there are no "out" gays here and im pretty sure nobody will join because of fear. I really dont want to do this alone. >_< I wish I had more courage. this is how i feel. we should start them! but still...

The first step to an alliance in your school is to take action. Its hard but quite rewarding in the end... n.n

Needless to say, such a thing is not encouraged in my school. I dare not to bring up such a subject to the students. For I was attacked just for wearing a shirt that dealt with homosexuality. When I approached the staff of the non-discriminate statement in the student handbook (which lacked of anything dealing with sexual orientation) they just said "Oh, so you're right," and walked off. neutral Nothing like the good ol' US of A.
