"It sounds like a legend I heard once before...but I can't remember who told it to me." Rath frowned slightly, his wings shifting at his agitation, the strings attached to them dancing with the motion. He shook his head, smiling, "It was very kind of you to help him like that. Almost angelic."
"It would have been too hard not to...it was just this feeling we both had. Like he was just for the two of us, it was too hard not to love him." Thayet's gaze grew distant and soft as if reliving the moment before focusing again, "I'm sorry you had to leave your baker-man. Was he well when you last saw him?"

Iliana thought she new of the story he referred to but she couldn't be sure. "Like...the little elves and the shoemaker? Kae and I are something like that...just faes rather than elves." She smiled at his little compliment, blushing softly while trying not to stare at his wings. "He was a very likable man, always making people happy. We wanted to do that too."
Kadyn nodded and hoped that if he were to ever find someone like that then he and Iliana would take them in. His smile then began to fade a little with her next question. "Weeks ago... He..he had passed away and his ungrateful grandchildren got rid of the bakery. It would have been too hard to stay there without him so we left and came here in hopes of doing like he did; making people happy with homemade sweets."

"Yes. Yes, that's the one. I can almost remember the voice...," he colored a bit at the attention to his wings, the appendages themselves fluttering in contentment as he ran his fingers along the tip of one, "It must have been wonderful, to make people happy like that. Maybe I can, too, some day. What do you think?"
"When our parents died, we weren't quite sure what to do...I'm sure it must have felt something like that. But at least you have something left of him in your cooking, just like Wince and I...," she looked sympathetically over at Rath, "have something left of our parents."

"I think you could, in whatever you do." She smiled again, looking back to the candies to pick out more to try. "So...which kinds do you like best? The butterscotch are really nice too..."
"At least he as you and your brother now," Kadyn said to her as he took the plated cakes to one of the tiny tables. He also pulled out a chair for her. "And you all are always welcome here. Lily and I would love the company."

"Thank you. That means a lot to me... Ah, I've never really tried sweets before. I've had sugar cubes once or twice, but nothing else."
Thayet nearly glowed, happy that someone acknowledged her care for her brother, "We'll be sure to take you up on that offer. I can finally get Rath out of the house." heart She sat down with a cheerful smile and a chirped "Thank you."

"Sugar cubes?" Iliana giggled, a very girly thing to do, but then again, she was a very girly girl. It also meant she was opening up. "These candies are much more tasty than sugar cubes, I can assure you. Feel free to try any you'd like. It's the only way to find out your favorites..."
"You're quite welcome," he said, his smile returning. He cut into his cake and took a bite. He would never get tired of them. "So, have you been around the town yet?"

Rath's face fashioned into something dangerously close to a pout, something that would have had Thayet choking if she'd seen it, "Hey, I liked them, and they had interesting patterns on them. I liked the little birds..." He thought for a moment before laughing lightly, "I think I'd be better off if you decided for me."
Thayet cut into the treat with the fork, and tried it out, humming in delight at the taste before swallowing, "You know, you won't be able to get rid of me, now." She giggled, "And no, I haven't been around yet. Wince would pass out if he heard me say it, but I'm a little intimidated."

Her cheeks pink with laughter, Iliana looked over the shelves of candies. It was hard to choose favorites. "Do you...have any least favorite flavors? Just so I could avoid them?"
Kadyn took another bite of his cake, savoring it like he always would. "Intimidated? I could understand that... I've not been out either but I'd like to, at some point." He hadn't s clue what might be around but he didn't want to simply live in his shop like he had before without going anywhere.

"Oh," Rath blushed a bit, "I don't really like nuts or coconut. Thanks again for letting me try your creations."
"I'd love to get out and explore. I'm just a little worried about getting lost. Wince is the only one who doesn't seem worried. He's probably at some book shop with his nose buried in an archaic tome by now," she nodded, then huffed, "This place is so big! I wish they had maps or something. My poor little feet."

"You're welcome," she replied in her soft tone again, his blush making her blush. "Well, let's see what I can find." Iliana looked through the different jars, picking out different fruit flavors before moving to the mints and such. By the time she was done, her hands were full. "I suppose I should have gotten a bag first..."
Kadyn laughed a little. "I can understand that. When in my smaller size, it's very easy to get lost." He ate another piece then tilted his head. "I'm sure there are maps around somewhere... Or maybe we could find someone to be a guide?"

"Ah! I'm sorry," he laughed before stepping forward and offering part of his coat as a basket, "Would you like help with those?"
Thayet cocked her head curiously,"How small can you grow? Regardless, I suppose we'll find something. I think Wince said once, 'If in each moment we take a step, heading in whichever direction, whether or not we end up at our old place, we'll find our special ones, and that will be Home'. So I have confidence that it'll all be all right."

Iliana smiled at his gester then carefully dropped the candies into his coat. Not wanting to make him stand there with them, she retrieved a bag and began to transfer the candies over. "Ah, there we go! This should be a good start."
Kadyn laughed again, unable to help it. "Lily and I are faes who are able to change size at will. In our old home, we lived in our smaller size." Finishing off his cake, he sat back in his chair. "That's a nice saying. He sounds like a nice person to be around."

Rath smiled congenially, watching her closely, "All right. Where do you want me, Miss Iliana?"
Thayet giggled, beaming brightly, "Oh, the two of you must be so adorable!" She blushed, realizing what she'd said, and shook her head, "Heh heh, sorry... My brother is a nice person to be around. He might say I'm too excitable, but he'll always come along if I just touch his hand. He always protected me when I was little...Rath, too. Even after--even now."

Iliana glanced around the little shop. "If you'd like, we can sit down at one of the tables and you can try a few I've picked out. I wouldn't want you to eat them all, though. It could give you a tummy ache." She blushed lightly again, having over stuffed herself on sweets too many times to remember.
Kadyn laughed again. "No one's seen us in our smaller sizes so I'm not really sure how adorable we can be. Lily maybe, but I don't know about myself." He tilted his head a little and smiled warmly. "Lily's like that too...as I am about protecting her. She's all I got; all I've ever really had."

Rath offered a sweet smile, coloring just slightly, "Of course. I appreciate your concern, Miss Iliana." He moved to take the basket, waiting for her to choose a place for them to sit.
"Ah!" Thayet cheered, "Then I have a mission. I simply must see you small. I'm sure you're just as adorable as your sister. After all, there can't be many changes besides your size..."
She paused, regarding him thoughtfully.
"You're a good person, Kadyn."
