Her lack of verbal response surprised him, but he refused to let it show. For a mare who, in the past, used to yap from sunrise to sunset, being silent was something rare for her. He knew she was unhappy, but it wasn't anything he was concerned about. She would learn her place once again, and until then, she would have to deal with her own emotions. He was doing her a favor, after all, by continuing to teach her, even though she seemed adamant about going off on her own, attempting to flee to her own demise. He knew she wouldn't last without him, and would soon return to respecting and listening to his every word, like she did when he first took her in. It would only be a matter of time, and he was patient. He could wait.
"I hope you killed enough for the both of us," he smirked, stopping as he stood only inches away from her. The rats at his feet had already made their way towards the carcass, but he intended to take the best parts for himself.
Leaning down he swiftly grabbed the tenderest section and yanked, ripping it out as he began to chew away. The warm blood felt good around his aching gums, and he held the piece in his mouth, simply savoring the flavor and texture of the food. It wouldn't be long before the rats took care of the rest of the meat, but he hadn't been hungry to begin with anyhow. It just felt good to have the taste of blood in his mouth once again, and he turned to give a lazy stare towards the mare who had provided his and his minion's snack.

Dia ignored his comment and continued to chew. It was only when Plague bowed his head to fetch his bite did her jaws cease their grinding, and she watched him closely, silent. How dare he assume he could take what he wanted from her? She had killed the creature herself -- what right did he have to intrude and devour her prey?
Tiny paws began to grab and pull at the meat, and the kalona raised her head away from them, disgusted by the rodents. Feeling sour from the recent change of events, she snorted and took a step backwards, her hoof tempted to come sailing down on both the rats' and the mutant's head.
"Help yourself," she muttered, almost inaudible. Her stomach, however, had no qualms with revealing its frustration at losing a meal as it rumbled hungrily in disagreement.

"Sulking doesn't suit you, Sweetness." the dark colored stallion commented, swallowing the last bit of meat that remained in his mouth.
It was obvious that she was upset, and once again, Plague shook his head in disappointment. It was becoming a ritual thing between them, him finding disappointment in her. That short bout of freedom she had away from him had really done damage on her intelligence as a whole. He was beginning to wonder if she was doomed to become an eternal victim of stupidity, or if there was still a chance to impress some knowledge into that thick skull of hers.
He stepped forward as she retreated back, ignoring the small bump in his step as he carelessly smashed one of the rats in his path.
"You're not planning on running away again on me, are you, Sweetness?" he asked, raising one eyebrow. "You wouldn't want to go and hurt my feelings now, would you?"

"You'd first have to have feelings, for me to be able to hurt them," she scoffed in return, standing firm where she stood. Her fierce pink eyes met with his black empty ones, and she let out another snort.
She was tired of his tormenting, tired of his cruel teasing, tired of his lectures, and was especially tired of his constant demand that she remain in his presence. She was done with it all.
"Why don't you go find your own meals for a change, instead of mooching off of me all the time?" She snapped, baring her fangs at him. She then casually tossed her head back, allowing her purple and pink curls to rustle against her neck, as if to show him she didn't fear his power in the least. "Or are you too weak and lazy to do it yourself?"
She immediately rethought her words and for an instant, wished she could take them all back. While Plague would typically ignore her sassy comebacks and remarks, if his abilities were ever questioned, he was quick to prove otherwise and there was always hell to pay. All too many times, her pride would get the best of her and she'd slip up, as she had now. The only thing that would prevent her from feeling his wrath once again would depend on Plague's current mood for the day... to which she had no idea what it was. She knew, however, that in a few moments, she'd find out for certain.

His dark eyes narrowed, his own jagged fangs baring themselves in retaliation to her challenging words. There was definitely something different going on with the mare, and he was determined to figure it out to stop all of this foolish nonsense from continuing. He wanted things to return back to the way they were before as quickly as possible.
She had always been bold with her words, but never reckless as the current way she was acting. What was causing this change in her?
"Sweetness," he growled, coldly starting back into her gaze, "Have you gone mad? Are you begging to have sense beat back into your tiny mind?"
His black hoof scraped itself against the ground, wiping the remains of the rat that had attached itself to him earlier against the green blades of grass. This was not the way he wanted to spend his day; he was in no mood to inflict damage on her yet again, but if circumstances would call for it, he would do it without hesitation. Someone needed to remind her who was in charge, even if constant beatings were becoming quite boring to him. Oh well. Perhaps it was time to come up with a new technique?

Emotions were overwhelming her... anger, fear, frustration, hatred. She couldn't concentrate and focus on one alone, they were all rushing at her at once.
One thing was certain, though... she was through with being his punching bag. She despised him for everything he was, everything he did, everything she knew of him. She wanted to get away, but wasn't fast enough. It was time to turn the tables on him. Show him what she was truly capable of.
Lowering her head, she let out a frustrated howl and she lunged forward, her striped horns slashing across the air until they made contact with a solid surface. Plague's shoulder.
She'd show that b*****d.

Even for his quick eyes, everything happened in a blur. Caught off guard, he would have never expected a rush attack from this particular mare, and when her sharp horn dug into his shoulder, he winced and grunted in pain.
Instinctually reacting, he leaned over and grabbed her neck with his mouth, his aching jaws demanding blood from the strain of tearing at the moving creature. His fangs punctured the back of her head, but nowhere near the damaging veins that could relieve her of her life.
His shoulder throbbed, and he knew that more irreparable damage would happen to him if he didn't attend to the wound quickly. Gripping tighter on her, his powerful mouth managed to yank the struggling mare off from forcing herself onto him, and shoved her away. Should she attempt to attack again, he would use his own horn, his own means of fighting, to ward her off or worse.
His breathing was labored from using his means of airway to repel the mare away, and he felt the warm, sticky blood cling to his hair as it began its slow descent down his leg.
He had no hesitation to fight back, or even kill her. It was her move now, and he watched her closely with his hollow eyes, waiting to see what the pink kalona would do next.

Panting, Dia felt the holes in the back of her neck from where his mouth had been. It hurt, but she knew the gaping hole she left in him must have hurt at least five times as much, so she gave a small victorious grin. She didn't know what the hell she was thinking, but she loved the exhilarating feeling she got from attacking. She felt like she was in control now, that she was the one with the power.
It was a fleeting feeling, as she watched how Plague failed to even struggle to continue standing where he stood. Perhaps she hadn't harmed him as much as she initially thought she had?
Panic filled her mind as she debated on what to do next. She could always try to attack again, but he would be expecting a move like that by now. If she flew to the sky or tried to dash away, she wasn't sure if he would be able to follow on foot or by wing.
They stood there, silently, watching one another, and finally Dia could take it no longer. Without saying a word, she turned and bolted off, running as fast as she could away from the mutant, never turning back to see if he'd follow.

Plague blinked, and watched the kalona dart off like a scared foal. It was a horrible disappointment to see her flee at the start of battle. Why, he had actually grown the slightest bit impressed at her for her surprise attack, and had somewhat hoped she would try to continue. At least that way, she could have proven herself to have learned something from what he had taught her. All the better she had left, though, as his shoulder was beginning to become increasingly painful.
He let out an almost inaudible groan, and staggered off into the nearby forest. He'd have to find a way to heal the wound before it worsened, and then he'd track down that worthless b***h and let her know who was in control.
