joe-dude667 Kiyoshi_Mizukage I'm going with Yngwie. Yea Zeppelin is awesome, but for me, I like a good challenge on guitar. Zeppelin just isn't challenging anymore. And If you want feel, Becker has that. Listen to Concerto when he was in Cacophony. I just can't stand him... That G3 dvd is awful, the acoustic thing is ok... but only because he isn't trying to kick the audiance/throw his guitar over his shoulder while he's playing. FAT PEOPLE ARE NOT SEXY! scream Jimmy page on the other hand... My God. The solo for "Tangerine" is one of my personal favourites. Not that fast, but more emotion than a pregnant lady on steroids. I take offense to that. crying

hylianhero27 But can they do it with feeling and emotion? I mean, isn't that really it? Sure, I can play a chromatic exercise at 200 bpm now, but that doesn't make me good. That just makes me look like I'm trying to take a poop when I'm playing. An example: Listen to "The Rain Song" by Led Zeppelin and tell me it isn't one sexy song. Then go and watch Yngvie's set on the G3 Live at Denver DVD and tell me which of the songs (any of Yngvie's or The rain song) you would prefer to learn. Does having the ability to rip up and down the neck like a pompous a** really mean anything? I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just want a bit of feedback to this question since this is mainly focused on speed. you're just quoting a guy from guitar world who said who wants to play like a swarm of bees flying up and down the neck you jsut dont' like it cause you can't do it this is a topic about speed, it does mean a lot to me. but wen i play i put the "feelings" in the rythem and such, then just pu the solo in to tie it up, the solo can be fast and have just as much feeling in it as melancholy(holy martyer) by iced earth

its just "emotion"(whatever that is everyone has different look at it)
to me its more of holy S**T kind of thing when I hear a solo , like kind of a "what was that !!!?" or "I have to learn that !!!" kind of thing . Kind of paul gilbert kinda of thing . Cause it just aint fast its just pretty cool note choices .

You look like you're trying really hard to defend yourself. Look, I'm not saying that speed lacks any emotion. There's a place for everything. If you're doing it incessantly then there's no variety. To me, most of the Dragonforce and/or Malmsteen stuff is just anticlimactic. And the comment about the "don't like it just because you can't do it"; I can hold my own thank you. I've NEVER liked that kind of music, and I don't think I ever will. It's not a matter of ability. It's a matter of personal preference.

I've heard that Steve Vai can play 54 notes per second. If that's true, then that'd certainly be the fastest.
