"The other one calls her sister so they've gotta be sisters." Besides they acted too much alike to not be and they both had the same pattern around their eyes. Mama called them sisters too.
"...Maybe it's cause the Natives rasied'em? Don't think the Lady would've left baskets out in the sun too long." The Lady native was too nice to have left baskets out if she found them. Unless maybe the baskets were out too long before the Natives found them.

Well, if they said that they were sisters than they probably were. Still, it seemed odd that only one of them could talk. Maybe she had a special condition? Or maybe she didn't really have anything to say, so she didn't talk? Or maybe she only talked to certain people?
Whatever the reason, it was highly mysterious, but interesting.
The other colt's following comment caught him off guard, though, resulting in a puzzled look. "Nay-tives? What's Nay-tives? And who's the Lady?" Not terms he was really familiar with, or could even recall hearing, to be honest...

He blinked slightly. Did Tony not know what Natives were? Maybe he hadn't ever met any...
"There what Mama calls the things with two legs. They're different from us but Mama seems to like a couple of them and so does Dah." The two weird sisters seemed even more friendly with them but he couldn't understand why. It wasn't like they could talk to the Natives.
"Lady is one of them ... i never remember what she calls herself so i just call her the Lady."

Now Antony was even more confused. Things with two legs? Did he mean birds? They were the only things with two legs that HE'D ever seen, and listen to them as he had, he'd never been able to understand what they were saying. Maybe THAT was something special about Dodger's family, that they could talk to birds?
No, that made no sense! How could they talk to BIRDS???
So he was a bit suspicious-sounding when he finally asked, "You mean the birds?"

He scrunched his nose. "No. If i meant birds i would have said birds." He knew what those were but how could Tony not know what Natives were? Did they not go where he was or something?
"I can't explain'em better than that. I guess ya gotta see them to know what i'm talking about. Maybe yer Dah'd show you?" If his Mama didn't like anyone else then she probably wouldn't show him the natives but his Dah would.

Ok, so not birds. Regardless, Antony was a little bit put out at not knowing something, and at Dodger's further explanation his frown deepened.
"I dunno; I've never heard Papa talk about natives or two-legged anythings, not even when we're out walking. Maybe my Papa's never seen them, either? Maybe they're just in hiding when we come around, or maybe we're in the wrong place."
Which was really too bad. He wanted to see those strange Natives, too! "D'you see them much, Dodger?"
