I'll have to say Anya and Jenny.. I thought the way Angelus set up Jenny's death like that, and as soon as she and Giles were getting back together! So awful! Anya's death was so sad as well, I think she may be one of my favourite characters.

Anya's death shocked me the most because I really thought she'd make it through like she always had. Not to mention that fact that she and Xander had gone through so much, I kinda hoped they'd somehow get back together again.
But Spike's death was HORRIBLE. I had to pause the DVD so that I could cry in peace without missing the end of the episode. I haven't watched Angel yet (still saving up to buy the DVDs) but it makes me feel a little better to know that Spike is ressurected. I'm still sad he died though, right when he and Buffy were sort of reaching an understanding. I'm sure she was considering dating him! oh well...

cute_caroline16 the saddest deaths were when spike died in the last season and when angel died in the second season, but spike was totally hotter than angel so his death was the worst to me, but angels was the most dramatic Well...I think that Angel's death had more of an impact. Buffy grieved over that much. She even mentioned it in "Selfless" in season 7. And I just luved Angel so much more than Spike, sorry.

Yea, not to mention I don't think Buffy even cried when Spike died. Or if she did it wasn't anything near the amount when she grieved over Angel.

I was rather stupid with both Angel and Buffy's finales. I spoiled myself for them. In the case of Chosen, I bought the huge novelization of the entire 7th season a few weeks before the finale because I couldn't wait to find out what would happen. So I knew Anya and Spike were going to die. For Chosen, the death that was the most shocking for me was Amanda's. She was my favorite Potential, and just so awesome. Sniff. But the most shocking over all the seasons for me? Jonathan! He was my favorite character, and he gave that awesome speech, and then Andrew STABS him? I actually cried when that happened. To me, it was worse than when Warren killed Tara, because Warren didn't exactly do it on purpose, and he was also a bad guy - you expected him to do bad things. Andrew and Jonathan were friends, and Andrew just seemed so harmless...
As for Not Fade Away, I read spoilers online about who was going to die. It said Wesley would, and maybe Gunn and Lindsey. Now, Wesley and Lindsey were my favorite characters on AtS (although I had been sort of "Ehh...." over Wesley ever since he hooked up with Fred), so I was sad. But hopefull that hey, maybe Lindsey would survive! And then Lorne shot him. And I was sad.

mine was definitely Tara in Buffy because her and Willow had just got back together and they were so happy and Fred in Angel because of the evil flashback of her on her way to university in LA and being all excited about the future scream

Merlinssister mine was definitely Tara in Buffy because her and Willow had just got back together and they were so happy and Fred in Angel because of the evil flashback of her on her way to university in LA and being all excited about the future scream i agree 100% with that. as for the last episode of buffy, no one seemed too shaken up over anya's death and she died saving andrew's life so that was okay. spike didnt really die (yay! lol) so i would have to say the death of the potentials was the sad part.

Spike's death was really sad, but his was nothing compared to anyas.
it surprised me so much when anya died! i cried-of course. it was not the right way for her to go...it was just depressing. i mean she used to be this big-bad vengence demon, the best in the busness, and then she just dies by a bringer! a BRINGER!!!!
also i felt so bad for xander, and he didn't even get to have her body to have any kind of closure at all! i just thought it was so sad, but i understand why joss did it. i have buffy season 7 on dvd, and in this thing they talk about how he ended buffy, and he said he was trying to convey a message of hope. and that he knew he would have to kill somebody, and make them stay dead, because it was a war, and it woudn' t be a real war if nobody important died.
so he thought about it, and he decided he couldn't kill an orignonal scooby, cause 1. his fans would never forgive him, and 2. he was trying to convey a message of hope at the end, that buffy could go and have a life now, they all could, and if a scooby died. they would all be jsut to broken to face the world, the message would have been one of grief and sadness rather than hope for the future.

When the last ep aired here, it had alaready been anounced that Spike was going to be on Angel next season, so it wasn't a shock when he died, cause if knew he'd be back. When Anya died eek .... i was devestated crying , she was my fav character and I had no idea it was coming. I thought they would kill off andrew, so was totally shocked. It didn't sink in when they first showed her body, and then when Xander asked at the end .... I was balling crying (though not hard, cause i cry at anything) I think it was such a hard death because she was always so honest, it almost gave the impression of inocents (yes I know she was an ex demon). I loved that Spike told Buffy that she didn't mean it, but thanks for sayign it anyway.
