I thought that may have been what you were talking about. Well, what I said still applies. Some moves will work, some won't. Don't write off Capoeira because what you see in movies. I'd suggest that you do Angola Capoeira as opposed to Regional (I think I may have said that before but oh well). I highly doubt that there is a style that requires all limbs to be present for a style of martial arts.

It is, but it just attests to my point that much more. Don't set limits for yourself Jae-Sung. Capoeira has a lot of potential, even for your body type!

Don't worry, I won't write off capoeira based off of what i see in movies. I just think that particular move is pretty cool, though i of course don't know how effective it would be in a real fight.

Well, one time I was goofing off with a friend and was quite surprised. Capoeira is so unique to many Asian arts that many people don't see the moves coming. That's why I nearly kicked the hoo-ha out of my friend's eye. A lot of the moves for Capoeira in movies show how flashy it is, but I think Protector did a good job. Of course, a Capoeirista would pose more of a threat domokun and would win cool . In all serousness though you can't really get a total understanding of a martial art through a movie. Well any more questions?

wouldn't that particular move be kinda slow though? Or is most of the power in the twisting motion while you're rotating?
I aim for hilarity with my sigs. Either that or something bad a**.

Well, you can make moves slow, but they can be pretty fast. That move can be really quick. If you meant the one I used on my friend, it can be executed really fast, but in that occourance I did it slow. He literally rushed into my foot. lol Capoeiristas rely on a quality known as "malicia" that is basically cunning. It's the ability to confound and startle the opponent. My friend had never seen Capoeira and never saw the kick coming. I forgot the name of it, but I'll have it for ya if you want to look it up (recently my crediitablity has come under fire so, I've got proof for Capoeira exp).

Wow, a Capoeira thread!! Its good to see such diversity in here. I practice Capoeira, but I haven't formerly trained for the past 4 months. I've been thru two groupos. What groupo do you belong to Martial J?
And as for malicia, I would say the rasteira is the epitomy of malicia! 3nodding
