So I'm wondering... Miss America - Contest or Game Survivor - Contest or Game Ping-Pong - Contest or Game Basketball - Contest or Game Magic the Gathering - Contest or Game Dodgeball - Contest or Game There are some I would call contests and others I would call a game, but I can't go through this list and say they're all games or they're all contests.

Game applies to them all. So does contest. Just because contest usually has a cash reward doesn't mean there it's not a contest.

wakusei Omnileech You can easily call it a game and still aard the same prizes you would in one of your "contests" It's a stupid distinction that doesn't mean anything. I guess I just fail to see how painting an egg belongs along side Say Something About the Avatar Above You. They just seem entirely different in my mind. One has substance, the other has none.
Wich one has this so called substance? And what is the Substance dose the Punkin thread have! Remember all threads are under the same rules not just select ones.

What is the point of the god damned sub-fourm if you don't put items in it!
There is nothing saying that I have to put a game in the subforum either. The rules are quite vague, and I don't feel that a moderator should extend the rules to fit their own threads.
OK so we have no point to any sub forums according to you! With no rules about having to post there and all. There's a sticky in each subforum explaining what types of threads go there.
And I fail to see how we're doing anything only to "benefit our own threads". The Easter Event was created for YOU, the members. The fun of the activities are for YOU. Actual money was spent to get prizes that are to be given to YOU. How on earth do the mods benefit at all? All we hoped for was to incite some community spirit and now we're corrupted, power-hungry leaders?

Jaft What do you guys think about a guild event subforum or a contest subforum? Hold them all in the game subforum where they belong. Creating your own distinctions where they don't exist is pointless and a waste of money.

And what if we added discussion topics to each guild wide contest, would that make a difference in their placement?

Hey! I have an idea... let's get rid of the subforum altogether... and not put them in the main area, either. Just outlaw all fun for the guild. That'll take care of everything. [/sarcasm]

Wich one has this so called substance? And what is the Substance dose the Punkin thread have! Remember all threads are under the same rules not just select ones. A contest involves actually trying. The types of games seen in forums are mindless. They were created for the sole purpose of getting gold and having a good laugh at responses. The Phunkeh Thread was deemed the offical place where nonsense could exist outside the one sticky. If it were soley up to me, I'd have kept it to being just the sticky long ago. But since the majority of the members so loved the Phunkeh thread, it was decided to be kept around. As our members' happiness tend to be important to, well, me anyway.

No that wouldn't change the fact that it would still be a contest. Discussing it would take away from the contest wouldn't it?

I am looking at other consequences, if you can extend your power here why not in other places. I look at from all angles, not the ones that started the debate.
Your own rules witch you brought up make no claim to any sort of requirement to post threads in a sub forum. If you have a sub forum than use it, if it dose not get views than don't have it. Don't only post non-guild events in there. Just because you funned it dose not mean it is made to reward the members any more than a normal game. They are both bringin joy to the community so they can both be in the main forum right? Oh nope, that would destroy the already useless sub forum right?

games involve trying. Ever read "the greatest game" Now that's trying! Chess is a game and it requires more skill to be good at it than most other games. A contest of the minds if you will. Skill is a crappy determinant of what is and is not a game.

Skill is a crappy determinant of what is and is not a game. Again, I don't see thread games as being the same thing as normal games, such as chess.
If our Game Subforum called for games like real chess to be involved, things would be different, but since thread games are far, far simplier...then it's not the same.
