"Yes, a tent indeed, people'll think you're some kinda weirdo walking around in that...I could check if some of my clothes might fit you... Not sure if I have anything your style though, but it'll prolly hold you over until we can go shopping." The spunky teen offered. "Bus Eolo, they will smash you flat, leave nothing but a splat on the pavement. Trucks are equally bad, but luckily they tend to stay on the larger highways. THe buses are our friends though, because I don't have a license, and you don't have any government documentation. My money won't hold out too long so we need to all get some jobs. I was looking around in town and picked up a job listing... Do you guys read where you're from?" Most of this Eolo already knew, but Jack was mostly rambling on for Khorae's benefit. There was a lot of information to be assimilated, and in Jacks pro-active mind, that meant it was best to blow through it all as fast as possible.

"Wait, trucks, buses? What are you talking about?" Confused as all get out, Khorae just kind of stared at Jack, hand touching the inside of the cold box, discovering it to not be ice at all. "What is this?"

"Do we read where-" Eolo smacked his forehead. "Of course we read, or we do if we're educated. I am a Mage, I have to read. Learning is key. I can't vouch for her," He nodded at the redhead, "But I can read and write in three languages thank you very much."
He turned then to the redhead. "The Fridge is an icebox that has power given to it by the cable in the back, and the power keeps it cold. Trucks and cars are horseless wagons that go as fast as an arrow. Buses are bigger ones that we can get rides on, for a few coins. I'm working on getting a job. We need more income."

"Of course I can read, only peasants cannot. And how can you have a horseless wagon? Is everything running downhill? And what kind of power?"

Eolo sighed. "Look, Red- The horseless wagons have engines in them, like the enginework inside a windmill, but they run on power too. Power like lightning, like static... Like this." He holds his hands out and abruptly crackling white light leaps betwn his palms.

"Like magic, but they've only got this one kind of power figured out here, and they don't have magi."

Jack grinned and perked up. "There's magic in your world? I have a little bit myself... nothing big but I can see magic and ... stuff.... Like I can see through illusions, and see past the surface basically. We called it magesight back home. My world is rather like this one but we have an underground of nonmundane things..." Then she paused trying to remember what she was talking about before. "Well anyway, we need to earn more money so we can stay here under this roof and have food to eat. We earn money by getting jobs, now this section of the newspaper here is called the classified ads, here people post about things they want or have or need, and people like us can look through them and can find things like furniture, jobs, cars, or animals, sometimes even housing, I found this place for rent in one of them. You can also find them on the internet, but we don't have money for computer or phonelines yet." Jack was quiet again giving the ma chance to reply and to sort thorugh all that she said to see if she'd skipped anything. "Oh and what about your clothes? You didn't answer before. I think I might have a sundress if you're uncomfortable about the whole woman in pants thing."

"No...no, women in pants are fine...I need to sit down. And my name is Khorae, not Red." She looks around and goes over to the living room and sits on the couch, dazed.

"Ah, good, I'll just get you a t-shirt and jeans to borrow, should fit....might be a little snug in places. And pick a room since I suppose you'll be staying here. Granted that means you're going to have to find a job and help pay rent and buy groceries and stuff." She said more seriously before departing to her own room. She returned some time later with said articles. As she stated they would be tight. Very tight perhaps in some places. Looking from her clothes to Khorae, Jack made a slight face. "Yeah, once you change, we're going shopping, these aren't going to work for long term. But," She said, shifting the items to pull out a pair of cheap sandals. "Flip-flops are just about one size fits all."

Her hands were on either side of her head and she doesn't even look up, ignoring half of what Jack is saying because Jack didn't seem to understand something important here. "Look, I don't know about you, but I'm not used to being dropped out of nowhere to a place I know nothing about, being told I have to do a bunch of things--words with no meaning I know of!--without five minutes to breathe!! Gods, will you just silence your tongue for one bleeding moment!!!"

OOC: Khorae would sound like she has a British accent. It's her dialectal equivalent from her home world and particular region.

((jack would know Eolo is a mage and that he's from a place with magic. She's been living with him for nearly a month. and.. um......Could you please put some paragraph breaks in your solid text blocks? Thx. And if you could go with say Navy Blue instead of red text it'd help my eyes immensely. *beggy kitty eyes*))

Eolo sighed and rolled his eyes at Jack. "Less of the chattering hm? Look, Khorae, why don't you go upstairs, have Jack show you how to work the plumbing and draw a nice bath, get yourself clean and take a nap? There are two beds in Jack's room- You can sleep on one. "

"Alright...Does this place at least still have normal bedclothes?" Khorae stands a little shakily, honestly she was probably going to cry but her pride would only let her do that in private.

Eolo began to actually pity the girl- something he doesn't do often but he's not made of ice ya know. He passed her a glass of water.
"Yes, yes they do. Sheets and blankets and a nice bed. And in the morning I'll have something cooked for breakfast, maybe hot rolls and jam."

He turned to Jack. "Can you help her with the bathroom plumbing or d'you want me to?"

((Yeah the red is really bright, I was going to do dark red but it's a little too close to brown in color. ANd as for the block thing, I get carried away, Jack is one long run on sentence if I don't watch it. She doesn't shut up. Unless it's morning but we'll get to that.))

Jack paused looking a little unsettled and bewildered. Uncertainly she looked around. "Uh, yeah, I'll help her draw a bath...And I have a 2XL shirt for night...dunno if I have any extra pj pants...I could let you borrow a pair of boxers..." The teen continued, trying to be comforting but failing. Her skills were not with helping people slow down and take a break. She scratched the back of her neck and then fiddled with an ear piercing. She had always lived a fast paced life herself, jumping right from one situation to another with no time to second guess. She'd always just taken to hitting life head on and not waiting for it to come to her. She'd never been able to just sit still. She figured that rest could wait until she was dead, which given her heritage was likely to be young. Of course most other people of Vampiric lines tended to have the opposite outlook, but most of them ended up with a stake through the heart. Her thinking time had always been while running on a treadmill, climbing a rock wall or doing weight training. She had to stay fit, had to keep her wits and reflexes sharp about her. In her life, she wouldn't have time to slow down and be caught off guard.

OOC: Yup, Jack's a little bit paranoid. People want her dead on principle alone. According to many she is an abomination who should never have existed to start with, also her parents both kill vampires which makes her unpopular with them by association. She also is a punk teenager, which does not help her case.

Reluctantly, Khorae follows the girl who still wouldn't shut up upstairs, hands over her ears about halfway up as they turn on the landing to take the second section of the small flight of stairs up the second floor. They walk and come into the miniature hallway/balcony over the stairs, pass the linen closet and turn to go into the larger bedroom (technically the master). In it's large bathroom, the bath is drawn and clothes left for Khorae to change into, and the door is shut, finally leaving blessed quiet.

Undressing slowly, she paused once or twice to wipe her face free of tears, sniffling a little. How was she ever going to adapt? How was she ever going to get home? Was she not? Would she be stuck here? Well, it isn't as though she had too many reasons to want to return...

"Sham...poo?" Turning the bottle in her hands she noticed it had directions. "People put this in their hair?" Oh, bathing was going to take awhile.

Downstairs in the tiny kitchenspace, Eolo sighed, filled the sink, and started washing dishes. Jack insisted the machine under the counter could wash them, but this was easier for him. Gave him time to think. With one more person in the condo, they'd need work more than ever, and his stint of yardwork was bound to run out soon, leaving him again with no job.
