Tommy couldn't help but flinch back at the hiss...it didn't stop him from glaring at the snake man afterwards though. "Regardless of how 'bad off' he is, it's clear that you're only making it worse!" Tommy couldn't believe the snake-man...what did he think was going to happen when you wrap an already panicky frog with a natural predator! He wanted to scream and rail at Thom's obtuse attitude...but fought it back. It wouldn't help matters any...
Instead, he turned his attention back to Victor and Newt. "Victor...just back off for a minute. The last thing I think Newton needs to see are either of our mugs. Let him hide in his corner for a moment...see if he calms down on his own now that the snake is gone."

Victor frowned at being told to 'back off' away from Newt so the Frogman could calm down on his own in his hiding spot without seeing his, or tommy's faces. For a moment Victor didn't go anywhere, just sitting there and watching Newt before turning away with a small huff, and crawling back to the other side of the bar and out of Newt's sight
"Not like I wasss intentually trying to ssscare him Tommy" Victor crawled his way back onto a barstool to sit, leaning against the beachbar's edge, tapping the fingers of his four hands, and the claws of his forelegs irritably on the bartop. "Now what are we going to do if he decidesss not to come out at all?"

Indeed it seemed letting the frog man cower quietly without the threat of natural predators pressing in from all sides was far more effective than squeezing the spook out of him. His whimpers and croaks turned into a weary sort of panting before he finally went quiet. Slowly, slowly, his mind began working again. As various facts slowly processed and the events clarified a bit more over the roar of instinct, the quiet turned into a strangled sobbing noise. He was quick to try to stifle it, though- crying was not allowed in front of the guys.

Tommy just sighed while half-heartedly pouring himself another blood and bourbon. "Don't be like that, Victor...You know damn well what I meant. The last thing Newton needs to see are fangs and claws, alright? That's all I meant. And see? He's calming down."
He slowly allowed himself to sip from his drink before calling over softly toward Newt. "Hey...Newton...you alright, man? Just take a minute and collect yourself...We were just worried about you, is all."

"Alright Tommy" Victor grumbled mostly to himself, and quit tapping his fingers and claws while he listened to Newt sobbing from under the bar. Jeeze, was this Newt guy really that nervious and high strung? The lizardman admitted to himself probably getting coiled up by Thom would indeed be a very frightening thing.
"You might want to offer him ssssome water or sssomething" Victor told Tommy with a sigh, leaning up on the bar and trying to see the other side if Newt tried to come out of hiding.
"How you doing back there Newton?"

When he seemed to be able to speak again, the frog's timid stammer and accent drifted up from under the table a few moments before the tip of his snout poked out. "I... I... I'm n-not entirely s-sure...!" He managed, particularly proud of how level he kept his voice all things considered. Guilt slammed the frog in his gullet repetitively, the snout disappearing again as he physically winced at the memory of Dee's face. Her lips... her eyes... the strange markings but more predominantly, the teeth and the coat of sweat and the IV. What had happened when he last saw her? He should have stayed. She needed him but he had been a coward he was ALWAYS a coward what was wrong with him that it was so hard to just... do the right thing...
His gaze dropped down to the marks on his stomach as he sat up behind the bar, running a webbed finger along the dotted line and his breathing quickened again. What were they going to do? Would they come try to find him? He didn't particularly WANT to be dissected.

Tommy blinked as the frog-man's snout continued to poke up from under the table. He just shook his head, wondering what could have happened to this person in his life to make him that nervous. However, he was surprised when Newt finally managed to sit up behind the bar. Tommy grinned, glad that the Newton had finally calmed down enough to act semi-normal.
The bat-man nodded to Victor before looking back to Newt. "Yeah, you want some water or something?" he asked, while a small part of him laughed at the situation. Nothing around here made sense. He eyed the markings on Newt's stomach and frowned. "Looks like permanent marker...but, in all honesty, I wouldn't be that worried, Newt. I've been developing a theory as to what exactly happened...and I think it's just a hoax pulled by the labs to keep us unsettled."

"Would be like them too.... jussst another way for them to Messss with usss all" Victor said as he started tapping the bartop with the large claws of his foreleg again, this time slowly and deliberately before pushing some napkins to the other side of the bartop, just a bit over the edge in case Newt wanted some.
"Other than thosse linesss that got drawn on you, whatsss going on Newt? why are you upsssset?" The Lizardman asked curiously

At the calm, seemingly nonchalant and dismissive tone in both the other subject's voice, the frogman's head popped up over the side of the bar, wide frog eyes as boggled as ever, "Wh-wh-wh-what on Earth are y-y-y-you ta-ta-talking about?" Out of politeness, he kept his gaze mostly on the more familiar bat-man than the scaled... gentleman across from him. The offer for water finally sank in, his throat trembling while he thought before he managed to gather his thoughts, "Ah... p-p-please, wa-water... woo-woo-would be... ah... lovely..." He cleared his throat, dipping down out of sight again timidly.

Tommy nodded a few times and went about the trouble of filling up a glass of water for Newt. It took him a moment, due to the clumsiness of his hands, but he eventually was able to push the glass across the table toward the side where Newt was. "Think about it...it seems everyone's missing roughly five months of time...according to our calenders. I, myself, have a sore shoulder in the exact same spot where I was attacked by a boar back in March. Coincidence? Also...what was the last day you remember...March 31st, right? I don't know if you have April fools day in England...but in all honesty...knowing Sabin and the rest of the sick ******** in the lab...wouldn't it be keeping with their style to pull a sick joke like this?"
Tommy grinned, hoping he sounded convincing. In all honesty, he was trying to convince himself moreso than anyone else. He was terrified of the prospect of it being August...and that injection mark on the inside of his elbow.

Tommy's arguement was fairly convincing, it was likely just a prank or scheme by the Labs to test them or just mess with them.
"Tommy isss probably right Newt" Victor said, opening and closing his second jaw a couple times. "Itsss not good if thatsss whatsss been done thatss for sssure" The Lizardman tapped his claws on the bar, thinking to himself a bit before looking over the bar top and the numberous bottles of liquor
"If it had been that long... wouldn't the bar, bottlessss and everything here be covered in dussst too? they look fairly clean." Victor was pretty sure of that. "Newt why don't you come out? relaxs and have a drink, and could you get me a diet coke from in back there?" Victor asked as he pulled a bottle of Bacardi rum over to himself and a tall glass

Newt had attributed the dust to the fact he hadn't been in his duplex in weeks, and hadn't thought to look at a calender in ages. What did a swamp creature swimming about in a pond care about days of the week? Yesterday and Tomorrow were unclear enough as is. He emptied the glass into his wide maw, rubbing at the lines on his stomach uneasily, "I.... I d-don't... " Obviously these two were trying to egg him on, like the guards had, like Jordan and Sabin had, like everyone had, and the frog was at his wit's end. "N-n-now y-y-y-yo-yo-you listen to me! I've... I've had q-quite enough of... of... pe-pe-pe-pe-people t-trying to... to con-con-confuse me f-further and... and I'm... I sh-should really be... KrrrIIIT!" fleeing in terror to hide under a rock, "g-going!"

Tommy drained his third glass of bourbon and blood...and couldn't help but grin. The alcohol had begun working finally and a pleasant fog began to seep into his mind. He shook his head, still grinning. So, it was no surprise that it took a moment for Newton's words to seep through his radar-like ears to his muddled brain.
"Wait...wha..? Why the hell'd we try'n confuse you, man? We're all in this ******** of a situation together...like we were taught in Basic Training...always look out for yer wingman, yaknow?"

"Newt, we aren't trying to trick or confusssse you, I haven't even met you before today ssso why would I want to do that?" Victor asked as he shuffled himself down from the barstool he was on with a grunt as he lowered himself to the ground, and scuttled over to grab himself a can of diet coke, his tail flicking around as he looked over his shoulder at Newt before crawling his way back to the barstool and struggle his way back up, nearly slipping in the process. But he did manage to get back up, and crack open the can and pour himself a rum and coke.
"You ought to lisssten to Tommy Newt, we're all in thisss together, and need to look out for each other"

Newt gaped, his wide mouth hanging open as his eyes twitched from the bat-creature to the lizard... centipede... type... creature and back again. Drunk and... and clueless! That's what they were! The frog rubbed at the lines harder, as though trying to scrape them off with his knobbly fingers, "Y-y-you... you d-don't know what you're ta-ta-ta-talking about!" He croaked, backing out from behind the bar away from them. "Y-you... you... you have n-no idea...!"
