blakemann i think that byob is talking about many things... like when they says " Breaking into Fort Knox stealing our intentions" I think that means that out intentions for the war in iraq is only the money involved in it. When they say "Everybody is going to the party Have a real good time Dancing in the desert Blowing up the sunshine" I think that mean that the "party" is the war and how the army is showing all the glory that is in war but not showing how its still just killing people and about how the government is giving war a face of glory instead of death And about Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they send the poor? well i think thats kinda self explanitory i agree completely. 3nodding

I love every song on the new album, but Toxicity will always be the best one in my opinion. <3
Onto The meanings. This is going to sound really weird, but Sad Statue makes me think of Columbine and things like that. I'm not even sure why, but I remember that's what came to mind like, the very first time I heard it. I'd like to hear what others think the song means. sweatdrop

[Luvvie] I''d like to hear what others think the song means. sweatdrop I could tell ya, but I won''t be able to go very in-depth, just the basic idea (I liked your interpretation btw). Pretty much, people in the future will probably think of the current America as shameful (because of war and what not). Quote: You and me, we'll all go down in history with a sad Statue of Liberty

I know System of a Down sounds rough, but this thread proves the sound of a song doesn't have anything to do with the meaning beyond the hard core "screaming" that people hear. If only enough people took the time to think about the lyrics they hear. Cigaro perfect example as pleanty of people have mentioned, it doesnt have to do with their c**k, but ego. sure its offencive but hey it does have meaning. Though this song isnt on Mesmerize, the song that touched me the most was Boom! I mean their opinion on war and the video was just, I don't know how to say it but, it just connected with the people. I'd like to see some pop stars do that with their mellow music that isn't 'scary'.

I don't like the anti-war songs as much, at least the ones on Steal this Album, the Mezmerize anti-war songs were good, though. Anyway, I don't think LIH is that general, it sounds way to specific, like there may be someone that someone knew or liked tht fell into this trap. Also, This Cocain Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song has to be from experience, you can't just make up "Don't let your stepson eat the fish."

I dunno, alot of System's political stances bother me. the whole Bush thing for example. It seams like EVERYBODY has jumped on this "we hate Bush" bandwagon for little or no reason beyond what other people have told them and it just bothers me. If you have a truly genuine reason to hate a political figure, then fine, but most just hate somebody just because everybody else does and it bothers the hell out of me...
